This was my second visit since they opened. Most recently, my friend and I went for their all-you-can-eat lunch. I ordered roughly 40 pieces (in total) and a beer from draft. We came here for dinner around 6pm on a Wednesday. This place is rather new so the decor was fresh and clean. We were greeted and seated immediately. 6pm was a good time to come, because after we were seated it got really busy. Here you have the option of choosing the all you can eat menu or ordering options from the regular menu. Our drink order was taken and, we got our drinks quickly. They have the all you can eat( ayce)menus on the table for you to check off your sushi or hibachi options. It only takes a minute to check off what you want. It took 15 mins or so for the server to come back to grab our food ticket. This happened our entire visit. They make all of the orders to order, I undersrand that can take some time, it took a long time to get ourbfood each time we requested more. I frequently go to sushi restaurants and make my own nigiri + sashimi at home. Tonight was my first time trying Magic Sushi at the recommendation of my friends. I started off with a miso soup and agedashi tofu. My all time favorite thing to order is Salmon Sashimi, which are cleaned, de-boned slices of cured salmon. I ordered four. In the middle of eating the third, a very big piece of bone pierced my tongue. This is a very big choking and harmful hazard. My tongue bled for the remainder of my dinner and I was not able to enjoy it. I spoke to a manager and he seemed to be in a rush so all he did was discount my meal, but he did not take the salmon nigiri off my tab and quickly told me he would make sure next time it wont happen again. You can satiate your desire on trying a bunch of different things, usually for a fair price and decent quality. This place, like others have said, is pretty similar to Mr. Tokyo. I would dare say it pretty much is Mr. Tokyo. However, I did notice some differences that put the actual Mr. Tokyo over the top. For the sushi, the fish to me is of similar quality maybe a little less and the rice isn't as good as it could be in terms of taste and freshness. The rice seasoning could be improved and I wouldn't say the rice was old, but it wasn't that fresh. I'd pretty much say it's kinda average tasting. In terms of the menu (at least the lunch one) the variety isn't that good as my brother is allergic to shrimp and that severely limited his options. I'd definitely be interested in seeing their dinner menu though. Personally, the biggest strength this place has to me is the amount of space and tables they have. I'd say this place has quadruple the space of the original Mr. Tokyo in Pineville at least. But my next question is if this place can handle a full house. Overall, I welcome another AYCE place to Charlotte and I hope they can improve on some things to help them compete. Like I'd definitely come here if Mr. Tokyo has a long wait because I know this place can accommodate a bunch of people, especially larger groups. However I think I still prefer Mr. Tokyo for the slightly better overall quality of their food. The Aesthetic: Hip, family-friendly sushi restaurant with the option of all-you-can-eat sushi or regular service. This used to be Blacow, and it has been rebranded as Magic Sushi. The Price: It's in line with other all-you-can-eat options around the city, and you get a bang of your buck if you have a large appetite. I didn't do well with this on my first visit because I had a fried roll, and it was hard to finish my other orders, it was massive. The Parking: They have a huge dedicated lot, and it's never packed due to the location, they're quite hidden from any main roads. My Order: I tried it all in the hopes that it was the same quality as the sushi I used to order at Blacow. I will say that if you had a favorite roll at Blacow, you're going to be heavily disappointed because they changed a lot to be able to charge less for a larger amount of sushi. I was in love with their Volcano roll, and they made it into a completely different, extra fried, barely edible roll. The avocado salad I loved was the same, just a smaller version, which was good. The ginger dressing is still great. I'd highly recommend going for rolls that are less fried and covered in sauce because I was immediately filled up in the first couple bites when I tried the new Volcano roll, it's double the size of the old one, and it tasted off. The Philly roll, smaller rolls, hand rolls, nigiri and sashimi are all good options if you want to eat a good amount of sushi and not feel disgusting after. They shouldn't charge extra for the dessert options, no other all-you-can-eat concepts do that in town. I think they're going to need to do a lot more to stay competitive since they're so hidden from everything and they seem to be lacking business with the new opening. The service is still incredibly slow, and you can easily be in there for hours eating so you can't come here if you have an agenda after. The Conclusion: It's a good all-you-can-eat concept, but it definitely needs more love in the execution. Go in with a plan, so you're not overstuffed! read more

This place early on was not 4 stars for me, but it is easily 3-4 stars now. They were understaffed, but since have hired several people and the operation is running smoothly. I always just do the "All you can eat" sushi menu and it's worth it everytime. These rolls are HUGE! At other AYCE sushi spots the rolls are usually smaller, but not here. They're large and full of fresh fish and vegetables. I love the Summer Roll, no matter what I get, I always start with this. The Phoenix Roll is awesome as well! The nigiri is solid here too. Overall their sushi was good, (we also got their nigiri and sashimi, but forgot to take a picture. AND miso soup). Their sushi overall was good and fresh, their sashimi was especially good -salmon, tuna, and yellow tail. With them still being new their services were good, our waitress came to check up on us and was very sweet. Magic Sushi offers all you can eat sushi/other items on the menu. For their own convenience - as they state - the entire table must order either all you can eat OR a la carte. That means if I wanted AYCE sushi my husband could not order a la carte. My husband only likes a couple different sushi rolls, but fortunately the AYCE menu offered more than just sushi, so we decided to be seated. TL;DR The restaurant charges a lot for leftover food ON TOP of the $24.99 per person for AYCE, so there was an underlying anxiety to finish every bite. Even a leftover rice ball from a piece of sushi incurs a fee. This didn't allow for us to experiment to see what we liked or try anything new because of the fear of having to eat something nasty. That kind of ruined the experience, along with poor service, and hit-or-miss food. We went here on a Friday night to try there all you eat sushi. For dinner service the price was $25 a person. There was plenty of parking. When we arrive around 6pm there wasn't a wait. We were able to be seating quickly. Our server was nice. When you order off of the all you can eat menu they give you a sheet to fill out. They have hot options like chicken lo mein and many sushi rolls to choose from. Having hot options as part of the deal was great because my boyfriend doesn't care too much for raw food so this was great. We had chicken on a stick, steak lo mein, I had 3 sushi rolls with had about 6- 7 pieces in them. We even had room for dessert we had the fried cheesecake. They also had mochi which was nice to try the flavors were mango, strawberry, and green tea. The ambiance of the place was nice they had high top tables, booths, they had tvs in there with sports on.
