The atmosphere is just like walking into grandmas house on Sunday. Fresh made bread and homemade everything! As soon as you walk in the friendliest lady filled my order for a deli sandwich.. I didn't know what I was in for the sandwich took me to my happy place. The price is nothing compared to the quality ingredients. The service was wonderful. I opted for the chicken salad sandwich and that chicken was not canned.. it's in the taste. I'm definitely coming back for another sandwich and bringing friends along. We drove over two hours to have lunch and buy some pastries. We couldn't decide what to order, you could see the food was not fresh, the steam table was full of water with grease and sausage floating in it. the pasta sauce looked burnt. My husband ordered a sub sandwich, my friends husband a sausage sandwich, my friend eggplant, i had spagetti marinara. The noodles were mush and cold and tasted so bad, were were afraid of food poisoning and left everything. The pastries were not refrigerated and needed be, the cookies were not from there fresh baked they were from Flora foods repackaged. I wanted to buy some ricotta cheese and the owner wanted to charge me $89.00 for two five pound container containers that cost about $15.00 each at one of the warehouses. Wonderful little family owned bakery. This is not fancy. Its a GREAT place to run in and get a sub as they are amazing. Also their fresh homemade breads and rolls are available daily. I just moved here from New York. Needed to find an Italian bakery to make a cassata cake (not cassada, or cassate, but cassatA) for my sons birthday. If you are going to try to make this, at least spell it right. That should've been my red flag. The fact that this place is situated next to a donut shop, but are selling Krispy Kreme's, that should've been a red flag too. But, I get in there, tell them I'm there to pick up a cassata cake. The lady at the counter barely knew what it was so she had to ask my name (did they have more than one order??). Now while waiting, my husband and I are looking around, we see a lone piece of sausage floating in a pot of grease. Next to it, meatballs that were like none I've ever seen before. Sorry but they're not supposed to be white, but maybe they sat there that long and that's why they were white? They claim to be a bakery but there were barely any baked goods. My mother went in to place this order and didn't look around much. She ordered eggplant, left with her order, by the time she got to her destination 10 minutes away, it soaked thru the paper. Now to get back to the cake, I called earlier today to ask to have chocolate shavings put in the outside instead. I was told they had chocolate chips. I said ok that's fine. When I opened the box, no chips, almonds. but they put it in a box that was too small so it squished the top. You can barely see the happy birthday on it. I cut it open when I got home, knowing I was not giving this to my son, the cake was soaked in rum so bad, that it tasted/smelled like very strong alcohol. Now anyone that knows, knows cassata cake should have the rum extract in the filling, not the cake. The cannoli cream was very bland and no taste. So we put it in the box it came in, drove to Publix, tossed it in their garbage can (I have video if anyone wants to see it going in the can), then went inside and luckily got a substitute cake for my son. So if you are thinking of going in, don't bother. $35 for a cake that ended up in the trash. Don't let this be you. read more

I made order over phone w/ Linda for Cassata cake. We went over the order & she said it was $50. I go to p/u cake & was told by the pleasant lady in front that Linda said is was an extra $8 for almonds. I said she should have said that on the phone when she quoted me the price. She goes to the back & tells Linda. She comes back & tells me she said there was no more almonds. I said the Cake is not as I ordered if there's no almonds on it. She goes back to Linda, returns & said, she said is $8 if you want almonds. At this point to my confusion I asked, do you or do you not have almonds? This $8 is not an issue, she should have just said it, I said fine I want almonds. At this point Linda comes from the back w/an arrogant attitude telling me that if I want almonds I had to pay for them because they're not free, she continues to say that they cost money & they're not free, that I have to pay for them if I want them. I didn't expect such rudeness & such condicending demeanor towards me.All she should have done is say I apologize for the confusion. I got upset at her rudeness & responded that I didn't expect them to be for free & that she should have told me the correct smount when we spoke. I said money is not the issue & I wasn't expecting anything for free. Even tho after all this my friend who recommended the place asked me if I got the free bread. Lol, I didn't even get respect. Is absurd sending that nice lady to lie for her about not having almonds, doing her dirty work. I should have walked away, but the cake was unfortunately expected. She mellowed down & decided to take cake to my car. As she walked to car she gave the excused that she was driving when she took my order that day, another lie because she put me on hold to care for a customer while I was listening on the phone. My friend found that odd when i called her so I look st cake & looks horrible, penmanship sloppy & cake lopsided. The rudeness of this lady towards me was so disgusting, & disrespectful that my friends who recommended the place of felt terrible. They are repeated customer who now opted to go to Betty's place for now on. she was so rude & nasty to her employee, the lady was so nice, doesn't deserve to be treated like less of a person either. She didn't want her to talk to me & did not care to express her rudeness to her in my presence. Shame on you Linda, you are a horrible person. You never know who's that person you treated like crap. So always be kind. I pray G-d can grant you peace in your rotten heart & give you a new attitude towards all people. read more

I went here for lunch after having a bad morning, everyone behind the counter was so delightful and welcoming. Once I saw the rainbow cookies it was over, I've been looking for them everywhere. They gave me a free one to try and I ended up buying a pound (and finished them within 3 days). I ordered the #3 sub and it was sooooo good. It's huge. While checking out they threw in a free loaf of Italian bread and that just sealed the deal. Day made. Loyal customer secured. I had to contact my bank and challenge a charge for an item (as listed in the email) that was not received. Since no response, I have to option but to post this review on various social media platforms. Here's the email: Apologies for the delay in writing this. I've been traveling and I also wanted to get information from guests that attended my mom's surprise 80th birthday party that you "catered" at the Saddleoak club. There are a number of failures on your part that I'd like to point out... 1. You were an hour late delivering the food... If I catered your event and was an hour late you wouldn't be happy either. 2. We ordered three sausage and pepper plates but only two were delivered. 3. You would know this had you come in after my group unloaded your vehicle and placed the food on the table... But instead you just left... You didn't even carry anything inside. 4. I'm glad we spoke beforehand and I ordered more food because if 75 guests had come there would not have been enough food. As it is, 55 guests arrived and there was barely enough food... The only items left were some of the cakes and sliders... And know that the majority of the guests were over 75 years of age so they don't eat much. 5. The $25 fruit bowl appeared to be canned fruit that you dumped into a bowl and added a few fresh sliced items. 6. Two guests pointed out and showed me a hair in their vanilla cake. 7. Guests complained that the sliders appeared to have a tablespoon of egg salad or tuna salad or chicken salad and a small piece of lettuce. 8. Everyone loved the rolls. Please take this as constructive criticism and ideally you'll learn from this. Based on my experience and the guests that attended, we probably wouldn't recommend Magnolia bakery...that saddens me... I've used this bakery a couple of times and it's hit and miss. This last time was for Easter. I ordered a Truffle cake. Their website says that it is chocolate sponge case soaked in rum with raspberry filled and buttercream frosting. What I got looked like something I could have baked myself. The cake was actually just a plain chocolate cake with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting. Not sponge cake, not soaked in rum. I also ordered some Italian rainbow (Neapolitan) cookies and they were good. I was very disappointed in the cake, though. Probably won't order cakes from there again. I had a meatball sub. These balls are a far cry from what I remember eating.from 2 years. It's possible these balls were frozen. Zero flavor. This day I ordered the antipasto salad. Unfortunate for me (and other customers) they were out of roast beef, mortadella, and artichokes that I am aware of. The salad was skimpy compared to others but that was fine. Problem was I became violently ill the rest of the day after ingesting it. This was the only food I had eaten for the day. In thinking back, I remember the employees taking cash from customers and not washing their hands afterwards. They were rubbing their unclean hands on the meats, touching the pastries and scooping food out of bowls with their bare hands. Very unsanitary and not something I care to witness again. read more

National Pie Day was January 23rd. I wanted to surprise my family with a banana cream pie. I called two other bakeries, knowing Publix didn't make them fresh. Magnolia bakery was so tickled that I was looking for a pie she agreed to make me one fresh THAT day. When I picked up my pie they have a "promotion" of free pizza dough with $8 purchase. The banana cream pie was so amazing no pictures were taken, it was devoured that quickly. However I was smart enough to take pictures of the Chicago style pizza I made in my cast iron. The pizza dough was the best we've used. They will have our business moving forward. read more

I LOVE Magnolia Bakery!! Every time I am in Ocala I make sure to stop by for lunch and some treats!! I also have family in Ocala and on special occasions I call to order goods to be delivered to them. My dad just finished his cancer treatments and I just ordered a beautiful cheese cake and will be there later today. They send me a photo of what I ordered and they are always perfect. Pricing is very fair. I know some people are not understanding when they are out of this or out of that, but with supply chain issues and making things fresh it is not easy to have every item in stock. Please give small businesses a break on the small stuff. AND Shop small business, they are the lifeblood of our communities. They are doing the best they can!! Been there twice, first and last time. Read reviews and since we were in the neighborhood I can't pass up a good bakery . Got there at lunch time. Usually not open on Monday but with all the holiday orders coming in they decided to open. Most of the items on their menu were not available. My husband had an eggplant parmesan sub and I had a meatball sub. Husband said his was OK. My sub was some parts warm and other spots cold. Being Sicilian I know my meatballs. These could make Chef Boy R Dee gourmet. Cupcakes came with meal. Again bland and frosting was lard (not to be confused with butter cream). Bought an Italian cheese cake. Saved the day. Well -where do I start- I hired Linda to do my wedding cake who I showed a picture of the cake I wanted that looked like tree stumps stacked on each other -she told me no problem she could do it. We then hired them to do our catering as well since Silver Springs was unable to due to Covid. She was suppose to be at the venue at 9:30 am with cake -and then the food between 4-4:30. She showed up with the cake around 3 when the ceremony was starting and did a horrible decorating job and then didnt show back up with the food until after 5:00 meanwhile the DJ had to try to stall-we had to have other people on the spur of the moment give speeches until she could get everything set up. Our food was suppose to be in elegant chaffing dishes and she put them in cheap tinfoil pans and the serving utensils were bright orange and looked so tacky.
