This place has the best corned beef hash I've ever had. I also enjoyed the spinach cream cheese omelette, and the coffee served in nice, robust cups. I was on vacation from Ponca City, OK, and will definitely eat at Mahaney's again next time I come. Eggs were too dry, no turkey in the breakfast burrito, and corned beef was sweet and had a weird taste to it.

I'm sorry to say I was not impressed the service was the best thing there. tried the corned beef hash and eggs the hash was a heap of brown mush with very tough peaces of meat it tasted like some kind of stuffing not at all like corned beef hash. My husband had ham and eggs he said it was ok. not what we expected for such good reviews, could have made a better breakfast at home. with the tip the bill was over 21.00 with one cup of coffee, water and small OJ will not return. Just flew into town to visit some family, and we were starving as we left the airport! Decided to stop in here for breakfast and were so glad we did. The place is really cute, and all the staff were friendly. The food was delicious. I had the harvest omelette, and it was so good! Tried some of my mom's French toast, and it was good too. I would give this place 4 stars, but our service sucked wind. More on that in a second. I agree with all of the positive comments here so far-- Mahaney's is economically priced, and the portions are both large and really great! We tried a variety of omelets, toasts, and pancakes, and everything was pretty fabulous, great quality, and wanting for nothing. The owner was friendly and chatted with us, even though it was just our first time in. Except. I don't know if we caught our waitress on the worst day of her life, or what, but she did just about everything wrong. We were a party of four, and she forgot to put in two of our orders, ordered them incorrectly (we asked for omelets without meat, not a major inconvenience), and forgot all those little niceties that come along with an order, like providing cream and sugar for coffee, ketchup for home fries, etc. We weren't sure if we were supposed to help ourselves to someone else's stuff, or what, and she kept disappearing for fifteen minutes at a time so we couldn't just ask her or gesture, even though the place was 2/3 full (and it's a little place). She didn't even apologize or seem affected in any way-- just like she totally didn't care. We were saved by another server, though, which redeemed the meal somewhat. I would love to come back here, but my husband is totally turned off to Mahaney's now. Says a lot, especially since they served some of the best home fries he's ever had. read more

Mahaney's donated lunches to our WIN-TV children's television production camp and the kids were CRAZY for their huge, delicious sandwiches. Not only does Mahaney's have great food, but Eric and his staff are all wonderful to work with and eager to help out non-profit groups like us in the community when we really needed it. Very friendly and attentive staff. The omelets and home fries are very good, the harvest omelet is a healthy and excellent breakfast option. On first glance this place is really cute and old timey America, but I experienced beyond rude staff here. I have a tiny 3 pound poodle service dog who was in a carrying case and had his service dog tags attached to his bag. I have trained many service dogs, but this guy was beyond rude and acted really angry and hostile about the situation. I explained to him that he was a service dog and he demanded to see the paperwork in a rude way and loud way. I went out to the care to get the papers, then I realized it really wasn't worth it because I didn't want to spend any more time in the place with such a hostile environment. It's not that he asked for the papers, that's completely within reason, it was his attitude and anxiety fused way that created this situation. One extra star for okay food. read more

My boyfriend and I visited here this morning after coming across it on Yelp. It's a cute hometown sort of breakfast place and we were told to seat ourselves. The service was very very slow. Our waitress did tell us two people had called out but it was still too slow. We waited for over half an hour for our food to come out. I got blueberry and cream cheese stuffed French toast and a cheese Danish and both were great. The french toast portion was a small though and I wish the bread was better. My boyfriend got the Poquonock special. He thought it was pretty good overall but thought the pancakes were just okay. Overall we would give it another shot. read more

This is the kind of place you could miss if you weren't paying attention. It's in an out of the way location on RT75, and tucked away in a very small building. So if you don't go out of yoru way to find it, it's your loss. I have been here nearly half dozen times in the last eight months while visiting and helping my child get settled in the area, and frankly, it's amazing! The staff is very courteous and helpful about the menu, the food is absolutely terrific with everything cooked to perfection. And the Hash? Holy cats, if you like corned beef hash, you're going to love Mahaney's hash. Delicious is too thin a word for it. Go here once, and you'll come back again and again. read more

We were attending a computer class in Bloomfield, and when seeking a place for lunch, got lost and found Mahaney's. We were delighted at the find. I have a severe dairy allergy, and the owner was cooking that day and made everything dairy-free for me. For someone with food sensitivities and limitations, this spot was a real find. This is a great little place to have breakfast. I had the sausage and egg sandwich with cheese. The egg was cooked perfect for the sandwich. Not runny so it made a mess but it wasn't hard either. I would highly recommend this place. read more

I found this place, like many others online....It was a very pleasant surprise! breakfast anytime (GREAT breakfast btw) not that OTHER popular CT rest. the chef/owner is and beyond the norm.... if it exists in the place and you'd like it, he'll prepare it the way you'd like it, in whatever creation you'd like it:) SUPER awesome! It is tough to find a great breakfast place around here and this sure is a gem. Talk about feeling like you are with family. The staff is SO friendly. Every person working there either sat us, took our orders, brought our food out (even the cook brought out some food), or rang us up. Sometimes everyone doing too many things becomes disorderly but they all work together so smoothly! The food tastes fresh and so homey. The corned beef hash is probably the best I have ever had. It was so fresh and meaty and yummy. I love how all of the mugs and plates were all different giving this place so much charm. The decor is nothing special but you really could feel the love in the smiles and more importantly you could feel the love in the food. I just love this place and I am glad after 3 years of living in this area that we finally found our breakfast place. read more

I wish I was able to evaluate the food and the service in separate categories. I had the most amazing meal here and phenomenal service by everyone who wasn't my server. I have to give the one star due to how terrible my waitress was. She never even told me her name but she had red hair. She was only interested in herself. She sat down and began texting right in front of me and I had to get up to grab my own silverware and even get my own cream for my coffee. She was too busy texting to even look up and notice. She was incredibly rude to me and was way more interested in feeding herself than making sure the customers were all happy. I am sure the look on my face said it all when another employee came into the dining room because he asked me several times how things were this gentlemen should be running the dining room not this horrible woman. He was warm, kind and personable. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant and requesting that he be the one to help me! read more
