I had no problems with my order of Lobster Salad and it taste just fine. BUT and this is big BUT every body else ahead and behind me was waiting from what I heard was close to 20 mins. Its so rare to find a D'Angelos still open so naturally when I spotted this in the Hartford Airport I was extremely excited! It is just to the left of security. I stopped by here a couple of Fridays ago with my coworker for lunch. Since D'Angelo Grilled Sandwiches is located in an airport, there isn't too much to say about. It amounts to a food stand where you can order you food, watch it be cooked on a flattop and then assembled before your number is called to pick it up. Their slogan which is plastered around the restaurant is a somewhat amusing "grillelujah". On this day I decided to order the large southwest chicken grain bowl. There were three people working the front of the house and at least two more in the back. They were busy though and in somewhat of a disarray or so it seemed which made it so that our meals took about 10 minutes each to be made. It was bad enough that some of the people in front of me asked about their food and everyone got a generic shout about how "the chicken takes longer to cook than the steak". In the end the timing was merely a slight inconvenience to me since I had plenty of time to waste. Whenever I finally opened my dish I was pleased to see that it looked quite good. The menu describes the bowl as grilled chicken & onions, charred corn, black bean & pepper salad, bell peppers, pickled jalapenos and cilantro with a smoky chipotle sauce and a drizzle of ranch dressing all on top of grains consisting of quinoa, ulikan red rice, red jasmine rice, baby lentils and long-grain rice. The flavor of the bowl ended up being decent enough and everything about it was cooked properly. I would have maybe liked a little more taste to the bowl and possibly more of a better other ingredients to grains ratio. The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. While the wait for our food seemed long, especially for an airport, the food itself was decent enough and I would be interested in trying one of their sandwiches. read more

I wanted a somewhat healthy option prior to my flight so I opted for a sandwich from D'Angelo's. I wish I had just gone for McDonald's - this was a terrible sandwich and not worth the price. I asked for a hot Italian grinder and was given a sandwich with toasted bread and lukewarm meat. To be fair the bread was okay, but it could have been much better. Probably the quickest food you can get on your way to gates 20-30, other than candy /snack food. That said, be prepared to wait five or so minutes for your food (especially if you order a warm sandwich!) as sandwiches are made to order. I got the surf and turf (~4 inches of a lobster sandwich, and ~4in of a steak sandwich). The lobster isn't anything special; just cold claw meat with mayo and shredded lettuce. It doesn't skimp on the lobster though; you won't be left with mayo and lettuce sandwich for your last few bites, which I greatly appreciate. The steak sandwich was similar; nothing special but pretty solid for a fast warm sandwich. The only option I was asked about was wheat/white bread, but the steak sandwich has onions, mushrooms, peppers and cheese mixed in). If you don't like orange soda you won't like the water; it comes out of the fountain machine an unmistakably gross yellow and tastes like unsweetened flat soda. Perhaps the fountain machine needs a cleaning? Service is professional. Napkins and other amenities are restocked pretty quickly. Pricing is on par with airport food; I wouldn't normally spring for $13 for 8 inches of okay-level sandwich, but airports are airports. Just stuffed my face with the chicken Asian teriyaki sandwich. Pretty tasty for a fast food sub place in the airport. My normal go to is the thanksgiving turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes but glad I switched it up today. The sandwich was super cheesy and the teriyaki was not too sweet. The only thing that I didn't care for was that the manager was scolding the crew though they clearly had things under control. When there is a crowd, why embarrass people? After brilliantly skipping breakfasts to finish packing, I found myself early for my flight with a rumbling tummy (my empathies for the plight of Mr. Winnie the Pooh). The food was fast and came out in no particular order. It was slightly frustrating a single pattie burger came out after three later orders, and the food quality is pretty nondescript. Needed to grab something quick on my way to Gate A26. D'Angelo's was there, and there was a decent line of 2-3 folks waiting in line plus a handful of folks waiting for their orders. I mean, if so many other people are willing to eat their sandwiches, that's a sign that it can't be horrible, right? I got a Medium Vermonter with Sirloin Steak (Crispy Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, White Vermont Cheddar Cheese and Honey Mustard). I probably could've survived with a Small, but my eyes are always hungrier than my stomach. The steak was good enough; the bacon was actually crispy, but I couldn't taste any honey mustard.
