    Grilled Maui Maui tacos
    Zach B.

I won't say bad, but I would say "not good." Seating is at a hotel pool, which adds some unnecessary confusion on how to order, where to sit, etc. Once you figure that out, you discover the food is only sort of passable. My fish tacos were undercooked (even somewhat cold when served), and the prices were comparable to what you would see at a much better local restaurant - take your pick.

    $40 Mai Tais

Food was average. I thought it was overpriced for what it is... but it is Maui! Ambiance is very loud and seating is outdoor. It's a bar in a hotel on the beach but it's hard to see the beach because there were tons of people blocking it. We did try their high end Mai Tai which is $40 each! It's good but couldn't differentiate that much from cheaper Mai tais I tried. Service was

Do NOT order seafood at this place. Better yet, avoid it all together. It's kind of a shame for a place in Hawaii to serve not fresh fish. Tuna salad made me throw up in the middle of the night. Mind you, I barely ever ever get food poisoning. Just go to Salt Rock, or any other place with high rating. Avoid this bar if you can. Also, drinks here are not impressive for the price at all.

Relaxing beachside at lunch. This is a pool/beach bar so bathing suits were OK!

Came to this hotel for late lunch after hanging out in the ocean in front of our hotel for a few hours. Had poke bowl, they let me sub the rice for arugula, so it was nice and light. Sat at a surfboard table high top overlooking the beach and the black rock jumpers, grabbed a few beers - great!

Awesome bar that is inside/outside and has sports on tv. We went for happy hour and the drinks were absolutely fantastic especially for the price. Inside is epic with a river and fish in them and the view of the ocean is amazing. You can sit outside and watch the sun go down. Def worth stopping by!

If I could give them a minus star, I would. Where shall I start? I was actually writing a review on my phone while I was there and had pictures to back up my mayonnaise story, but it somehow didn't upload. First, the worst mai tai ever. How does one screw up a mai tai in Hawaii? I guess they use canned juice because it was barely drinkable (actually, I think I sent mine back and the rest of the folks in my group didn't finish theirs either). The fresh pineapple wasn't even ripe. Oh, and it took f-o-r-e-v-e-r to get a drink. Second - and this is the most outrageous thing to me - they had plastic bottles of mayonnaise on a shelf (next to their other condiments) with the sun beating down on this particular shelf - for at least an hour (the entire time we were there to see the sunset show on the patio). I cannot believe the Sheraton would allow this yet, there they were - at least 10 plastic jars of mayo on prominent display in the bar with sun shining brightly on them. So not only would I never, ever eat their food, I will never, ever drink their crappy drinks. Stick with beer and leave as soon as you can.

    Smoked salmon with pita.

I noticed all bad reviews about the place and my experience was completely diffident and enjoyable. First, the location of the place is right on Kanaapali Beach, one of the top beaches in the world, so you can have a nice cold drink while enjoying such a wonderful view. So you have to pay the price for it. Second, our waitress was really friendly, she took our order right away, my husband had burger and I had smoked salmon on pita bread and smoothies. It took about 10 minutes for the order, our drinks came right away. The waiter was super nice and friendly, followed up on our order and even let us leave our wallets and phones so we can go back and snorkel after lunch. Smoothies were refreshing and my salmon on pita was super good. Maybe I was hungry after swimming all morning but it tasted soo good. The portion was a perfect size. The bill was around $50 for 2 smoothies, burger and smoked salmon on pita. But with the view and convenience that place offers, I was very happy. It is literally, 10 seconds walk from the beach, you can have a nice lunch and go back to the ocean.

Excellent service but the prices ( though not that surprised) are sky high. All the cocktails are $10 and to eat a quick lunch with cocktails for two people is going to be at least $50-60 plus tip. Glen was our server that took our food order and let us go wait on our lounge chairs. We had the option to eat there or the tables. He Was very friendly and very on top of his game makin sure not only did we have enough drinks, but refilled our waters without asking since it was such a hot day and provided us with some bar snacks later on to munch on (no charge for that). A cocktail cup of bar snacks included pretzels, sunchips, Doritos, and Flamin' Hot Cheetos - yummy!

We liked this bar! It's on the Sheraton resort property and they have a 10am -12am happy hour which is great! There are also great views of the ocean and black rock from here! Try the "cliff diver" it's great!

My entree was the ahi tuna slightly seared. This restaurant is one of the only places I know that can cook an ahi tuna right. Other places we've been too tends to overcook it. Hula grill got it right. It was delicious. My husband got the Mac nut fish, and he said it was ok. He said it needed a better beurre Blanc sauce. Maybe with some citrus. It lacked flavor. But the best thing here was the kids menu. When we went they had a $20 petite filet with mash potatoes. It was perfectly cooked. My 2 year old ate ALL 4oz of the filet! It was that good. I tried a little piece and hot damn, what a deal. The best kids menu deal when they have it available! Get it. It was our anniversary, so the server gave us a celebratory hula pie. So good. The restaurant was completely empty, yet the host told us they were fully booked for the entire evening and would not even allow us to put our names on a waiting list. We stayed nearby for another 30 minutes and watched only a few tables be seated while most of the restaurant remained empty. When we asked again, we received the same response: "We're fully booked." I understand that reservations need to be honored, but refusing customers while an empty dining room sits unused is frustrating and sends the message that appearances matter more than hospitality. No matter how good the food may be, treating potential customers this way is disappointing. Businesses that turn away willing patrons without reasonable accommodation risk losing not only those customers, but also the goodwill that helps them succeed.

Beautiful views, incredible food, and surprisingly family-friendly!…read more While visiting Maui, we made a reservation at The Plantation House, and it ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip. The setting alone is stunning--overlooking the Kapalua golf course with gorgeous ocean views--but the food absolutely lived up to the scenery. We started with a fresh house salad, which was simple but perfectly dressed and a great way to kick things off. For entrées: * My husband ordered the short rib, which was incredibly tender and rich with flavor. The sauce paired perfectly with the creamy mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. * My oldest son had the prime rib, and it was cooked beautifully with a great sear and topped with asparagus and a flavorful butter. * I chose the shrimp scampi, which was buttery, garlicky, and packed with shrimp. The pasta was coated in the most delicious creamy sauce and even came with toasted bread to soak up every bit of it. * My younger two ordered from the kids menu--the kids short rib and butter-and-cheese fettuccini--and both plates were generous and surprisingly elevated for kids' meals. Everything we ordered came out looking beautiful and tasting just as good. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and the whole experience felt relaxed but still upscale. If you're visiting Maui and want a spot that delivers great food, amazing views, and works well for families, The Plantation House is absolutely worth the reservation.
