It was so flavorful, moist, and perfectly seasoned! I loved how the prices/menu were short and straight to the point! Simple and easy to order as soon as you arrive. I ordered combo 3 (two Nashville chicken sandwiches, with crinkle cut fries. The Mac n cheese would tell me if this place was top tier so I went ahead and added that to my order. I'm glad I did. The Mac n cheese was 'bussin bussin'! Deliciously flavored, creamy, and prepared so nicely. Yummy hot chicken goodness! I came with a few of my friends to give this place a try recently and I love everything about this place! Like most chicken establishments, they have spice levels ranging from no spice to really spicy for you masochistic spice freaks. Service was pretty good; the girl who took my order was very courteous and polite. The menu was fairly easy to read. I ordered a the Combo #3 for myself and it came with 2 sliders at mild spice, 2 MC sauces, and seasoned fries. This is enough to feed two people. I enjoyed everything about this meal and I'm a fan of their sauce and seasonings. Yay! My friend ordered chicken tenders for himself at medium spice level. Craving a fried chicken sandwich while in Pasadena, I found Main Chick Hot Chicken on Yelp. I quickly scanned the photos on their Yelp page and knew I had to order from them. Main Chick makes it easy on their website with online ordering. As an added plus, you can even set a pick-up time. We ordered: -Combo 3: two chicken sandwiches (medium), fries, and MC sauce -Combo 3: two dark meat chicken sandwiches (medium), fries, and MC sauce -2 extra MC sauce (because it looked too delicious to only get one each) When I arrived at the restaurant around my pick-up time, my order was waiting for me in a stapled-shut paper bag. We swapped a sandwich each, so we could try both types. My favorite was the white meat chicken sandwich because there was less breading and more chicken to bun ratio. However, some parts of the sandwich only had a silver of chicken. The medium spice was true to its name and easy to handle while still giving a little kick. The star of the meal was by far the MC sauce. It went deliciously with everything- the sandwich, the fries, chicken, etc. I strongly suggest everyone order the extra MC sauce! The only downside of Main Chick is the location and parking. True to all Pasadena restaurants, parking was difficult to find on the street and I didn't want to pay for parking when I was just picking up food. I've tried them all...daves, howlin, popeyes, chick fila, chicken koop, almost all of them, but nothing really compares to this.. The seasoning main chick uses has a really strong flavor. It's intense and so powerful that you feel like licking the seasoning off the box. Incredible. I first learned about this place via doordash, and no place has yet to take this down. I typically order the two chicken sandwich combo, with fries, either medium or mild, and a side of the leg quarter. Obviously this is a lot of food, I usually eat half and save the other half for another meal, but it is just so good. I think a lot of people sleep on their leg quarter, it has got to be the best fried chicken I've ever had. The seasoning, crisp, everything is on point. They use their seasoning on the fries, so you already know the fries are delicious. Lastly, their sauce is AMAZING as well. I've compared other sauces from other places, and main chick's sauce just is the best. I like how this place has many options including dark meat sandwiches, and the leg quarters. I generally get the standard breast sandwiches but you must ALWAYS get the leg quarter. It's amazing. The only hard part is this place is in Pasadena, so parking isn't the best. There is a structure but when I want to pick it up to go, but it's a hassle to park in the structure just to pick up the takeout order. Tried to call in my order yesterday, but the phone number just went straight to voicemail - but it was too full to even leave a message! It's usually always better to call restaurants directly to place your order so they don't have to pay extra fees when you use a 3rd party... Additionally, I wanted to use yelp check-in 10% off and be able to just pay and pickup the food. Obviously can't use the 10% off if I just order online. Another downside was when ordering the chicken online, there was no option for supreme spicy? I didn't realize that and thought spicy was the hottest, until I got the box and I realized there was a next level. Best customer service though - they provided me with the Supreme spicy chicken sandwich order once I mentioned it. I'd definitely go again, but hopefully the phone is working next time... Which is WHYY the Main Chick Pasadena gets a Meh review. First and foremost the Nashville Hot chix craze isn't going anywhere and rightfully so. At the same time it's clear that some take the art of flavor to their tenders more seriously than others. The issue with main chick is simple. They don't care enough at this site to do anything with the food. The sandwich generally doesn't have anything special. Some pickles no slaw or very little. The bun is meh. Last but not least, the tender. It may be good. It may be bad. I can never tell because in the 3 times I've eaten at this specific location they will not listen to my spice/heat level request. Want it hot or extra hot? Great. Face is red and I'm gasping. Good stuff. Want it medium? Then Extra Hot it is!!! Mild you said? XXX Hot it is for you sir!!! I've had this place a couple times. Chicken sandwich is pretty good but definitely on the smaller side compared to other chicken sandwiches. The mac and cheese however was alright, but had a weird moldy aftertaste I had to throw it away. It is a very delicious, ever-shrinking sandwich. I've been ordering from Main Chick semi-regularly ever since they opened. At first the combo meals were a great value. If you got dark meat (thighs), they were particularly generous with the meat. Then a few months later I'm pretty sure they began slicing the thighs in half before frying. Then a few months later the tenders got smaller, and today I think the delicious buns (a nice, mildly-sweet brioche) are 10-15% smaller. All in all, it's still good, just not quite what it used to be when it opened. read more

We were in the area looking for a place to get lunch after killing some time at Target waiting for Tiffany's to open up again. We optioned different places but decided we wanted to try a chicken sandwich place. We were glad we found Main Chick Hot Chicken pop up. My wife, two kids and I decided to share the chicken tenders combination box as well as the combo box with 2 sandwiches and fries. So after picking up our food, we decided to just park at Target and just eat there before we went into Target. We also didn't want the food to get cold driving back home. First thing was the chicken tender non-spicy since we were sharing with our kids. I'm not a real fan of chicken tenders to begin with but probably comparable to Raising Cane's where it's not dry. Dip it in their sauce which the sauce is also similar to other places and it makes it that much better. The fries was just as good. Nice sized portion for the combos which brings me to the main reason I came; their chicken sandwich. Nice sized portion chicken sandwich which wasn't dry at all. I had minimal spice on it which was perfect. Mix the chicken with the bun and definitely one of the best chicken sandwiches I've tried. Definitely need to come again soon. Only bad part is parking but if your food is ready for pick up when you arrive, you can just pull to the side, hit your emergency blinkers and save money not having to find parking elsewhere. read more

I really like this place. I actually came here two days in a row. Haha...The best chicken sandwich I've had around the area so far. I've had both the dark chicken and regular chicken sandwiches. Personally I prefer the dark chicken, it's got a slightly more crunch feel to it. Dark chicken does have more fat in it. The chickens were juicy, not dried at all! They did burn the bottom of my bun as you can see in the picture. Next time I will ask for them to remake my sandwich. I hope it won't happen again. My only con of this place. :( The MC sauce is really good. It's like a spicy mayo sauce. I like putting it on the chicken sandwiches and sorta making the sandwiches wet from it. If you know me, you'll know I love spicy but even I was a bit nervous trying their Supreme level. Well, I wasn't nervous until they took out the waiver form for me to sign but I figured, wtheck, why not? Well, it's spicy. I ate half of it because I still wanted to try the other items but yeah, it was spicy. I think I have a slower reaction to spiciness because at first I didn't think it was that bad. After I finished half and was going to try the other sandwiches & fries... Then it hit me... yep... But, I like that adrenaline, endorphin rush that comes with eating something really spicy so overall, I liked it. Would I order that level of spicy again? There isn't parking in front of the store so I just got dropped off for a quick grab and go. Ordered combo 1 which comes with a spicy chicken sandwich, fries, dipping sauce, and one tender ($13). The portion size was decent and I felt really full by the end of the meal. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the fries, which are on the soggier side, the chicken sandwich was delicious! Before opening time, I placed my order online today at 10:45am. I specified order ready time for 12:30pm. No fuss, no muss. Really easy to do online using their website. Ordered two fried chicken quarters, one medium spicy and the other mild. Also ordered mac and cheese for $7, which interestingly costs more than a piece of chicken or a chicken sandwich. Altogether, my order cost $19.53. That includes tax and 10% tip. I'm Korean, but may as well have been from the good ole South in Dixieland, because I *cain't* resist fried chicken. I walked over to this place, and they had my order ready to go, neatly in a paper bag stapled shut with the receipt. The 2 employees at the register were great too. Today it seemed all the geeks and nerds were ordering from this place, and the employees handled all their whiny-sounding questions and orders with patience. When I got home, I saw the food was expertly packed. The fried chicken here is amazing. Simple as that. Look at the photos. I love and eat spicy all the time. But watch out, the medium spicy is eye-watering spicy! Other Yelpers have written medium isn't too spicy. At best, they may have gotten food that didn't have the same level of spice. Or they really do have super human levels of spicy tolerance, so that medium spicy here doesn't affect them. At worst, these people are total posers who for some bizarre reason want to talk big about their spice tolerance even though secretly they're on the crapper for hours afterward. When I heard this place was seriously the best, I knew I had to give it a try! I came on a Wednesday and it was not that busy. However, be prepared to wait around 20mins for your food because their food is made fresh! One of the workers recommended I try one of their newer combos on the menu Combo 5 that comes with fries, and 2 quarter legs. I also got a combo 1 that came with a slider as well as a chicken tender and fries. When it first came out, it was so hot and fresh I could smell the chicken. My mouth literally watered. I first tried the slider and my first reaction was that the chicken was seasoned and flavored so well, and the chicken was not dry at all. I loved how generous are with their pickles because IM OBSESSED with pickles. Next up, I tried the quarter leg... AND I was blown away! My first initial bite left me speechless. I just wanted to keep on eating because the spice was perfect and the flavoring was insane. Since it was a quarter leg, it was so juicy and crispy. Now I know why there's always a crowd outside their store whenever I drive by! They don't take phone orders but will take online orders. Their chicken is GOOD. I ordered the fried chicken leg quarter, mild spicy, and I loved the flavor and slight kick of spice. Although the amount of oil that you could see seeping through the togo box was worrisome for my arteries, this was definitely a great new lunch spot to try in Old Town. By the time it hits 11:30, the restaurant gets crowded and the line starts getting long. I got to use their check in offer 10% discount at checkout which was a nice perk. I know there are lots of people that enjoy Howlin Ray's (I enjoy Howlin Ray's, but not enough to wait in the line). I decided to order online and pick it up. There are various combos to choose from. I decided on the chicken tender and sandwich combo which comes with fries and sauce. I did the ASAP time, so I headed over once I ordered. If possible, I would suggest going with someone else. There is no street parking available. There is a lot near the restaurant if you are going by yourself. (Just a note, I would not leave your car there to pick up food. I saw a parking meter person going around giving tickets to cars that were unattended). The pick up was really easy and I was in and out. As for food, I have to say it is pretty good. The chicken was juicy and tender and I enjoyed the spices that they had. The only thing I didn't like about my meal was the fries. I thought it was a little undercooked and soggy. The sauce was good, very creamy (but, I have to say that I like the Howlin Ray's sauce better). But, aside from that, I enjoyed my meal immensely. Since I have been back, I have also tried the quarter chicken combo (this is probably the best opinion in my opinion) and the chicken tender combo also provides bigger chicken. But Main Chick is different. I ordered combo 1 and really enjoyed their MC sandwich that's more in between the size of a slider and full blown sandwich. The chicken tender was also perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy/tender on the inside AND not super fat like those hormone-injected-super-buff chicken tenders. I got the medium spice which wasn't spicy to me at all. But maybe it's because I'm Korean and all those years of training from eating Triple X Hot Cheetos. Next time, I'm definitely upgrading to the spicy or supreme. The fries were slightly over seasoned for my taste but still yummy and my favorite cut - crinkle cut what whattttt. Located on the new food strip along Union, Main Chick adds a third fried chicken sandwich shop to Old Town restaurant options. (Along with Crack Shack and that other one that I can never remember it's name) The sandwich is smaller than Crack Shack but it also costs much less and IMO less is more. Very flavorful chicken with a nice, almost slider size bun so the chicken sticks out on both ends. Despite the sandwich looking smallish, it's not. It's actually pretty filling. Me and the missus split the combo 3 which is 2 sandwiches and fries for $15. What a great deal!! It was plenty for us and you get a good amount of fries that were just right for us. Fries are well seasoned and crispy, best of all they're crinkle cut! The chicken is juicy and crispy on outside. We both got mild hotness which had just a hint of heat.
