My niece raved about this place so we decided to try it out for dinner last night. We ordered via Yelp which made ordering and paying a cinch. Our order was ready before the time they sent us, so that was a plus because there is no street parking on Union. We ordered a Combo 1 (naked and mild) The naked still had a small kick to it, but chicken was fried well and seasoning was tasty. The bun is what really did it for me. Sandwich was yummy and will definitely have it again. Crinkly fries were okay. I would have liked it more if it was soggy. The presentation lacked...it looked like they tossed the entire combo together, sandwich was all over the place, and coming out of its wrapper. Probably one of the best chicken sandwiches in the game. Have to try their dark meat sandwich. Crunchy, spicy, and juicy. It's way better than any restaurant spicy chicken sandwich! I always order off grubhub and it's there when I pick it up. Even after taking it home the chicken sandwich is still hot, crunchy, and heavenly. The customer service is spot on, friendly, helpful, and quick. They even wipe down the table outside for us. They have hand sanitizers for us to use too. It's in downtown so park on the street (metered) or in the lot. We got lucky and parking was free bc we came on a holiday. Food was great, we got medium spicy level and that was perfect. Fried were crispy, chicken crunchy and juicy, mac and cheese were good but nothing unique so probably won't get it again. I wouldve given it 5 star if chicken wasnt dripping in chili oil. So, I have been waiting for this place to open for quite some time! In fact, I tried the one over in Sawtelle back in January or February for the first time, and I have been patiently waiting for this Pasadena location to open, as it is pretty darn close to me! I tried it for the first time on Friday, July 24 at about 7pm. The online ordering system was not working Friday evening, so I went and ordered in person. Two Combo 1's, please! The wait time was quoted as about 30 minutes; however, it ended up only being about 10 minutes. As my first visit was to the other location, I still rate this on the top end of the hot friend chicken game. The sandwich and the fries were oh so super good. My big problem with this order is that they forgot my SAUCE!!! AHHHHHH!! I didn't feel like going back and finding parking again, so I went without it. Main Chick Hot Chicken definitely has one of the best hot chicken sandwiches I've tried so far -- maybe even the best after Howlin's!! The chicken was extremely juicy, and had a nice crunch on the outside. The mild had tons of flavor and some slight spice. The bun was tasty and the slaw wasn't too runny. Everything just blended together and held together so well, and it wasn't super messy to eat! The fries were crinkle cut, nothing extraordinary, and wish they were a bit more crispy, but I ended up eating all of them anyway because it was a good side to the sandwich haha. In my opinion, the only thing setting it back from 5 stars is that it's pretty expensive and the sandwiches are so, sooo tiny :( it was $15 for a combo of 2 sandwiches/fries and $13 for a combo of sandwich/tender/fries. Some other chicken places are way cheaper for the same combinations with bigger sandwiches. However, that would not stop me from coming back!! Just can't come back as often as I'd like to with those prices haha. They do have a check in offer for 10% off your order, which is really nice! Main Chick is located in a busy part of Pasadena where parking is a little difficult and cost money -- we had to park a bit farther away and walk there. They are taking good safety precautions -- plexiglass barrier between cash register and customer, no one is allowed inside the store, card only, no cash!! and they have a code you can scan to look at the menu on your phone. Highly recommend this spot for their juicy and tender chicken! They have a challenge spicy level which I haven't tried but I definitely will soon. Their spicy level has a good amount of heat and kick so I recommend getting a lower level if you can't eat spicy foods. It was everything I was craving for. Online ordering was super easy and saved a lot of time. My family and I got the Combo 1 & Combo 4. Note: Medium is spicy! Or at least for the chicken tenders, it was. Because of the heat and drinking lots of water, I was only able to enjoy 1 chicken tender for lunch (oh and lots of fries) guess that's why it's called hot chicken. Plus the size of the chicken tender is also quite large, so it's no surprise I could only eat 1. Had the leftovers for dinner and it was still just as delicious. The chicken tenders looked like normal sized chicken breast portions, with a crisp coating and no deep fried dryness. Plus, this is the first time I've seen a restaurant give more meat than fries. Been to this Main chick 3-4 times since they have opened and the food is on par with the other places in LA. Pricing for a 3 tender combo is 14 bucks. I get 2nd highest spice level as usual (spicy). Not as hot compared to some of the other but it's all relative. Service unfortunately fell short on my last visit. I order through their site to help out restaurants so they don't get screwed by the 3rd party fees. I went to pick up the food at the promised time, was told it wasn't ready by the girl up front. Ended up being 20 mins after the promised time and the manager found my Order that was sitting on the shelf. We headed out and the parking genie was smiling on us that day because we found an open space very close to the front door. Being the less adventuresome, in the spicy department, I took the mild version of the red-orange dusted and crispy chicken sandwiches before us. Biting in we found the chicken was tender and juicy, accompanied by yummy cool slaw and pickles, hugged by a sweet soft bun.
