I stopped for breakfast today, and I enjoyed a delicious meal made from quality ingredients. The scrambled eggs were perfect, and the bacon was crispy. There was no sign of fat on it whatsoever. The grits were creamy and flavorful. As for the coffee, I enjoyed several cups, and it was robust and flavorful. The atmosphere was simple, yet cozy, and there was ample room between the tables. The dining areas were super clean, and the friendly wait staff kept checking to make certain that everything was as it should be. The bathroom was clean and stocked. This is in response to your comments regarding the review of Terri V. I happened to be in the company of Terri and her two grandchildren that day (Columbus Day) and you need to get your facts straight. You stated you seated us and took our beverage orders. The kids opted for smoothies. You took the beverage order and walked away. You did not explain what was in the smoothies and we did not look at the menu to see what was in the smoothies. You told us it was a berry smoothie. The waiter then came to take our lunch order. We were waiting for the smoothies to arrive which they hadn't and finally after 10 minutes or more we flagged a waitress to find out what happened to the smoothies. They had been sitting at the counter. She apologized. So your statement that they arrived timely is false. They took 1 sip and did not like the smoothie. Granted if the kids did not like their meal that would be on us and paying would not be a problem. This had nothing to do with money and for you to make a statement " I have never expected a restaurant to pick up the tab for my kids leftovers is an insult. Over the years I have spent quite a bit of money at your establishment and recommending friends but trust me friends and family will not be coming and as I said it wasn't about the money. I saw such great reviews I had to try this place. Friendly waitstaff. My biscuit breakfast sandwich wasn't really a sandwich. The sausage was tasteless. Hash browns both my girlfriend and I really enjoyed. My girlfriend ordered biscuits and gravy. She took a few bites and that was that. Not good at all. The biscuits just aren't good. My girlfriends Bloody Mary was awesome. Coffee was good. Never offered a refill though. I ordered a side of their homemade pickles. Very good. I ate here once before and had a lovely experience. This review is really a warning for groups/large parties. I made a reservation for 12 over a month in advance and called a few days before to re-confirm. Despite that, when our party arrived on Sunday morning for our 11am reservation, we were told that another party was still at the table and it would be at least a half hour. When I asked how this happened, the woman helping us was defensive and just said "they all ordered staggered, what do you want me to do". When I asked what was an alternative solution could be, the woman helping us reacted as if she was needing to do me some favor and that I was bothering her. We decided to eat outside but unfortunately the backyard was covered in bees. Finally we agreed that we could split our party up and be seated. We were seated close to 11:45 for an 11am reservation and the woman who was helping us was cold and standoffish and acted as if this reservation mishap was our fault. At no point did anyone offer us a biscuit or coffee while we waited (we did get comped a biscuit plate when the check came which was a nice gesture). This was our first visit. We went for breakfast over the weekend. The restaurant is very rustic and the wait was not bad. We tried the biscuit sampler to start. The biscuits are good but not earth shattering and instead of giving the butter and other toppings on the side to put on yourself, the biscuits come to the table already topped. Not the best idea. The eggs, hash browns and steak were very good but my poached eggs were a bit overcooked. The Bloody Mary looked great but the tomato juice was very thin and the drink lacked any real punch. The service overall was very spotty. The servers were friendly but needed to be found to ask for more hot water, ketchup, napkins etc.. Overall, Main Road Biscuit is a diamond in the rough that needs some polishing to be a real stand out. read more

I regret not posting a review after our first visit last month. We were a party of six included 2 kids. Although I can't remember specifically our menus selections, I know we sampled much of the breakfast menu between us. I do remember that the food was fresh, delicious, and I can't wait to return! The staff couldn't be friendlier or more accommodating. I do remember there was an item on the menu which wasn't what we expected, and although delicious, perhaps that should be explained in the menu description (esp since it was for one of the kids). We stopped by for lunch in the middle of a long bicycle tour of LI and it was amazing! I had the salmon & quinoa salad, the salmon was perfectly done with a nice crispy finish. We just went to Main Road Biscuit after pumpkin picking at Starkey's, and Jamesport came into mind for lunch. This place had great reviews and I have to say it was even better. The food and the service was great. We had a little of everything we were a party of 9. Everything was fresh and the waffle and chicken was delicious, everything was very flavorful. The burgers were not like regular burgers they just had a little extra flavor. The pancakes were like crepes, yummy....I have to say it's nice to have a meal that someone thought about all the details of freshness and flavor. Really good food I recommend this place 100% to any one who likes French toast and biscuits. I really like this places food taste. However, I have one thing that is a little bit annoying. The first time I was there I got eggs and grits. Everything tasted great but the quantity of eggs was nothing and their was way to much grits. The French toast with berries is what I had the last time. On that the quantity and the taste was both amazing. Up their with one of the best French toast I have ever had. While the food here is good, my latest experience is something I have never experienced before. I was put on the waitlist, through Yelp, and was told there was a 40 minute wait. When I got to the restaurant (35 minutes later) to check in, I was told they were not seating anyone and the wait would be an additional 1 hour, 30 minutes. The manager said they won't be doing the Yelp waitlist anymore and they likely were getting ready to send me a message that my name was being removed. Apparently a large party came in and they had no seating. After driving 40 minutes to get here, they were unwilling to make any accommodations for us. We were offered "food to go". My entire family lives in Jamesport and I was born and raised here. I can GUARANTEE you I will NEVER patronize this place again. This is not how you run a business. We came in with children and I was a little nervous when I saw the dinner menu because my children are picky. Um...NO NEED TO WORRY. This was seriously the best food we all ever had. Everything was yummy. I really liked the former establishment but this one is shockingly good. The "smashed potatoes" are amazing, the chicken was soo fresh and yummy, the Mac N Cheese-everything! My husband and I have been here a couple of times already. We live about 25 minutes away, but the food is worth the drive. I love how welcoming the decor and staff are when you walk in. We have had a few conversations with the owner, Marissa, and she has given us some great recommendations. I was craving something sweet, and she told me to get the French toast with Nutella. It was perfect! My husband had the Main Road Bennie. He loved the lemon in the Hollandaise. The ingredients are all fresh and local. When we left we picked up some mini biscuits to serve with dinner. This place is the REAL DEAL! We are never disappointed when we leave MRB. We have gone several times and always leave highly satisfied. I love to cook and MRB is very authentic. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and the Hollandaise sauce was perfection! It had just the right amount of lemon. Most hollandaise sauces I've had are too buttery. The owner is always nice to us and makes a point to greet us when we come in, speak with us at our table, and also say good-bye. Speaking of good-byes, you MUST grab something sweet at the counter and a coffee to go as you are leaving. It is the best way to start the day. The place is nice. I had the double brined fried chicken and I wasn't a fan - it was way too greasy and the flavor was bizarre, but my husband liked it. My husband had the shrimp and grits - they were hands down the best I have had anywhere. I wasn't impressed with the biscuits. I don't know why they aren't baked to order- that would be a huge improvement. Also wasnt impressed with the waitress who right off the bat said she didn't want to be working. My mom and I came in really excited to have a good meal here and were so utterly disappointed with how we were treated as well as the quality of the food we were served. Our waitress took our order and then left for 30+ minutes with no update on whether our food was coming out anytime soon (this was when the place was more than half empty mid afternoon). I ordered the biscuit breakfast and specifically asked for my biscuit to be heated, and my mom ordered the plain mac and cheese with a side of brussel sprouts. Over 30 min later our food comes and the brussel sprouts along with my buscuit and the hash brown in my order are ICE COLD as if they had been sitting there waiting to be given to us for a long long time. We asked our waitress if we could have the brussel sprouts heated up or remade and she took them and NEVER CAME BACK. Not one time from then till when we had to physically get up and ask for our check after eating because so much time had passed. A different waitress saw us waiting so long and got us to-go boxes and asked how we were, seeing us completely confused. Our brussel sprouts came back DRENCHED in oil to the point that it was so disgustingly inedible I can't imagine serving that to anyone let alone charging them $8 for it. What was also so upsetting was my same hash brown and biscuit with egg on top was thrown into an oven and drenched with oil once again then put back on the plate and given to me... I could barely eat half without feeling sick. We later found out that our waitress "had to leave" and actually LEFT the restaurant without anyone telling us or any other waitress coming and informing us that they would now be taking care of our order. My first time here when we arrived this morning. Colder inside the restaurant than outside. Asked the hostess if we could move and she said we do not have enough waitstaff. Horrific They serve a hard cold biscuit cut in half with a 1/4 pound pat of butter mixed with some crappy jelly. What happened to serving butter and jelly on the side?The muffin was inedible, hard, and cold. In this case even hot butter could not redeem these dry, cold, hard, tasteless supposed biscuits. Then we ordered oatmeal pancakes. They felt like lead cakes. Heavy and tasteless served with fake adulterated maple chemical syrup. My guest ordered poached eggs which were served after being cooked for about a minute. They were raw. All in all this place is a complete joke. When on the north fork keep driving to Mattituck and go to Love Lane Kitchen where they have heat, awesome food, and friendly and accommodating waitstaff. We have been going to the Maine. Street biscuit since it first opened and recommended to family and friends. On Columbus day I took my sister and my 2 grandchildren for lunch . I had the worst experience, the owner came over and ask what we would like to drink, she said she had smoothies for the the kids . We ordered 2 smoothies when they came ,they didn't taste good . I told the owner that they didn't like them and if they can have juice. When the bill came they charged $16 for them I ask to speak to the owner, when she came over she said there was nothing wrong with them, she had an attitude and was very rude and walked away and charged us. Most establishments would have taking that in consideration. and removed the 16.00 off the bill, we paid the 70,00 bill left the smoothies and walked out . I will never step foot in that place again. She really needs to learn how to speak to people and not walk around with such an attitude. For $16,00 not only have you lost my business but also my family and friends. I will never recommend your establishments to anyone.* read more
