This review is for Chloe Lomeli, the stylist I had been seeing for two years. While I have no complaints about her skill--she's good at what she does--my issue lies with her customer service. My mother was hospitalized with COVID, and I was her primary caretaker. Given the circumstances, I called to reschedule my appointment, as I needed to be with her in the hospital and was at high risk of contracting the virus. Despite this, Chloe insisted I pay 50% of the fee, even though it was a health emergency. I went ahead with the appointment, but the next morning, I tested positive for COVID. I understand the fragile nature of a stylist's revenue stream and respect her need to protect it. However, in this case, insisting that I come in during a health crisis felt unreasonable, especially since I had only requested to reschedule once before. What made this more hurtful was that I had always been flexible and accommodating when Chloe needed to reschedule at short notice. Again, Chloe is a talented hairstylist, so if you're looking for a skilled professional, you won't go wrong there. But be aware that life events may not always be met with the same understanding when it comes to rescheduling. I've been going to Teresa at Main St for years. She listens to what I want and is able to execute exactly what I envision. I wouldn't go to anyone else for my color or cut. Teresa is excellent with color. I typically get highlights and the color is always excellent, and grows out so well. Reached out to Chloe in November 2022 (after years of not seeing her as I moved out of state). Receptionist told me she is fully booked == basically, for the rest of my lifetime! Sweet Chloe must have heard about that -- because she texted me from her private number - saying she would fit me in. Unfortunately, my health was on a downward slide and I crashed. After 2 and half years, I've haven't chemically treated my black black Asian hair that's down to nearly the top of my rear so I could go blonde... So trust and believe I was on the hunt for a MASTER COLORIST/STYLIST! Through a recommendation of a friend that has gone through all the colors and all different hairstyles with Jenn. I had so many recommendations from everybody else but I had my heart set with Jenn through my friends own transformations and experiences. Asian hair is one of the toughest to work with when going blonde and this is a known fact as I'm in the beauty industry, myself and my job is giving beauty advice and tips all the time. All the worries of burnt hair, damaged beyond repair and all the sessions.. For my 1st appointment, I started off with a haircut from Jenn and that was also a consult for me at the same time. Even though I was 30 minutes late, and Jenn had another client. She was able to accommodate me and her other client at the same time, never making us feel pushed to the side. I showed Jenn the picture of the hair color I wanted and she gave me the run down-2 sessions and what it would take and what she would use on my hair and that it is possible. Fast forward to today, one month after my initial appointment. Im in blonde heaven and have better hair than my inspiration pic! OMG! The compliments from all my friends, coworkers, my beauty mogul boss, and beauty guru reps, I've received, have not stopped! It took only two appointments - 10 hours total and no breakage, no dry outs, or damages to my hair at all! JennO was awesome every step of the way. Asking my advice and talking me through every step of her transformation, so I can be the "GOT - mother of dragons blonde!" I trusted her so much that with the end result that I let her tone my hair, adding her flair and I ended up with violet tones, warm tones, and ash tones to give my hair dimension. And I didn't for a while, but my hair stopped growing and started to break so I knew it was time. I read a lot of the reviews and the three stylist that stood out the most were Syndney, Long Hong, and Nick. I was offered an appointment for the same day with Eve and I was a bit skeptical because he's not even named on their website. First of all making the appointment was easy and fast, everyone was nice but most importantly Eve was amazing! He knew exactly what I wanted. I've had two haircuts by him and I will continue to go back! He leaves my hair feeling brand new, without cutting much of the length. My hair has been growing pretty fast also so I'm pretty thankful. I really want to like this place, I want to support local businesses. (Especially during this time during the pandemic, it'a been especially hard on businesses like hairdressers barbers artists contractors, folks that have to carry the cost of their business because they are the sole employee, as well as employer.) This is why it astounds me that when you make an appointment here consistently the hairdressers that I have had run late. My first appointment-there was someone in the seat and they were nowhere near done so I waited 20 minutes. Because I was in a time crunch they said to come back said for the rest of my haircut which included a blow dry. When I came to get that blow out, the stylist was 15 minutes late. When I indicated that it was not OK that the reason why I was there was because they were late previously, There was no apology, click care less, indicated I could leave if I want it. I had already paid $150. I was going to get a blow out. They proceeded to blow dry my hair from the top down. At some point they stop blow drying my hair put some product on my hair and I think they want me on the way out, when I indicated my hair was still wet/damp, They dried it some more. It was the worst blow drying job I have ever gotten. My hair still damp. I've never had someone dry my hair from the top to the bottom. I have a lot of hair my hair is very very long, she did not even section it. So what you get is a somewhat lazy blowout that's damp underneath. I could've done at home. That's a haircut and a blow dry for $150 which included tip, total time two days 40 minutes each time. Don't waste your time. read more

Long Hong is the guy to go to for your hair needs! My grays are starting to come in at the top of head and I was in desperate need to find a colorist who would be able to fit me in my crazy schedule and was good with both color and cut. I trusted Long with my hair and I am absolutely beyond happy with my hair. Not only did he recommend a color that matched my skin toned but it instantly made my dull skin brighter and made me look younger! My cut was just right and I have the perfect bounce in my layers. Long also explained to me how to best utilize my time at the salon as I do not like to sit in the salon chair for too long. He suggested breaking up touch ups every 2-3 months, getting my baby lights done every 4-5 months. Not I only do I appreciate the way Long did my hair and cut my hair but I really appreciated his recommendations on how to make the process easier for me. Chloe is the best!! I've been seeing Chloe for about 4 years now (followed her from Umbrella Salon). Even though she is a little further away from me now, she is so worth driving all way to Los Gatos to go see! She is the best hair stylist, always knows how I want my hair cut, keeps my hair nicely balayage and gives me the best tips on how to keep my color last longer and more voluminous. She is super nice and we always have great conversations. Highly recommend Chloe! Tip: If you park your car in the street you have to move it every 2 hours, so do yourself a favor and park your car in the parking lot behind the salon. This is a review for Blair, one of the stylists here. One of my girlfriends always has fabulously colored hair, and I was interested in getting something a little different done to mine. I have long, past the shoulders, straight brunette hair, and I was interested in coloring the bottom layers so that color peeked through my regular color. I asked her where she got her hair done and she said she treks down to Los Gatos to see this fantastic, super nice stylist. So I got the stylist's card and gave her a call to see if my idea could even hold water, having only dyed my hair professionally one other time. Blair was great from the start. She helped me see in the nicest way that my idea was slightly retarded, but was a good start, and let me in on some hair coloring knowledge so I could see for myself why it wouldn't work. However, she said the idea would work well another way. (I wanted to dye my lower layers red, orange, blue, but they would mix together and become muddy colored - and instead I did turquoise and purple). My friend made the appointment as she was going to see her as well so we could drive down together. We had a great time hanging out at the salon with Blair all day! I have gone back several times now, doing the drive on my own (which is actually nice, a little trip out of foggy SF is nice in the summer) and I have had a super enjoyable experience with Blair each time. She loves what she does, she is passionate about hair and doing it right, and she is very personable and fun to chat with. Every time I leave I feel like a rock star! With that said, what counts at the end of the day is the haircut. During our first appointment, we discussed what haircut I had in mind, and the length then it's off to wash and cut. No additional consultation regarding how I usually care for my hair, how much time would I be willing to spend on maintaining the haircut, how dramatic do I want the cut to be, if I want to continue highlighting my hair, what kind of products do I use now. I travel often between SoCal and Bay Area but Long will definitely be the one I come to for my hair coloring & cuts from now on. I am extremely picky when it comes to my hair especially when it comes to color. My natural hair color is dark brown so it is very hard to get the perfect ash brown tones and natural looking highlights. People that have colored my hair in the past always seem to make it reddish-orangish (brassy/copper tone), which is so terrible looking. LONG is the best stylist! He made me feel and look like a million bucks! He is very professional, such a nice guy, detail-oriented, & knows exactly what tones suit my complexion and cut to make my hair look voluminously healthy. My hair was really dry before coming to Long, he suggested a deep conditioning treatment which made a huge difference! He spent a lot of time and effort in getting the right color. He asked me , "What kind of cut do you want?" I told him, "Do whatever you think will make me look good!" I can tell he knows his stuff & I totally trust him with my hair! Oh yea, I love how when he shampoos my hair, he is gentle, and he gives the best scalp massage. I literally fell asleep in the chair because I felt so relaxed! I never know what would look good on me, let alone what I want with my hair. I came in this morning and just told Long that I don't want any of this orange in my hair. And BAM! Total transformation. I returned a few days later with some additional requests and he squeezed me in at the end of his day, and even stayed late to make my dreams come true. I'm pretty low maintenance and haven't cut my hair in 9 months, and it's been 6 years since my last color. Long made sure my hair didn't get damaged during the lightening process and did everything I wanted and more. He made his own suggestions but ultimately left it up to me when deciding to add some more light areas in my hair. I stumbled upon Main St Annex by happy accident a couple of years ago and have made a point of coming into Los Gatos to get my hair done whenever the fates allow. Yes, I will admit it... sometimes I go on business trips with my husband just to get my hair done. Anyway, on that day I first started coming to Main St Annex it just so happened that Lauren had been stood up by a no show client. Just my luck! Lauren is a great stylist and has a great sense about color and what looks good on people (thanks for deterring me away from getting bangs). I have never been disappointed with my cut/color and always walk away feeling like a supermodel. The price point at this salon isn't bad for the area. They carry the Kerastase (my favorite) line as well as a couple others. The salon itself is really nice - clean, bright and everyone seems to be having fun. They even have internet stations you can sit at while waiting for your color to develop. It's upscale but doesn't come off as snooty at all. Parking can be a bit of an issue (only a couple of times but still), so give yourself a couple extra minutes. read more

Main Annex Overview: Now that I'm no longer a college student I can afford to go to a reputable salon (instead of the student academies eek!) to get a stylist who knows what they are doing. Main Annex is by far the best and most consistent salon I've experienced. They are clean, timely and kind. I started with Charise, who specializes in short hair. After a couple rounds I recommended my mom (who has medium length fine hair) to try Main Annex and she worked with Julie. My sister also got her hair done at Main Annex ( although I don't remember the stylist). Always great results!! Everyone has really listened to our needs and goals. The don't push their own agendas or give you a hard time. Extensions: Of my experience at Main Annex the person who shines the most is Rachel. She is magical. No really, I think she has super powers. Rachel is one of two people in the surrounding area who does keratin extensions, which are the individually bonded pieces. This is a VERY expensive treatment (there are more cost effective options) BUT this is the best of the best. Rachel has 10+ year of experience with extensions. She will talk you through your options. She explains how the method she uses does NOT damage you hair. She is extremely committed to making your hair look great, sometimes even at her own expense. As an added bonus, Rachel was formerly a color specialist which is kind of like finding out that LaBron James can play baseball like Barry Bonds. There are a couple of things that make her really stand out beyond the rest. I came in for my first appointment with her and had a fairly rebellious and ambitious idea for a dramatic color. We talked for a solid half hour about what we were going to do, how we would achieve it, potential setbacks.... she made sure that I was incredibly well informed every single step of the process, and that I was entirely on board with ALL mitigating factors that come into play with vibrant red-violet hair. My appointment was at 7pm and we ended up being at the salon until about 11pm, just the two of us. When all other stylists go home for the day, Deborah is there, working with YOUR schedule, taking her time to give you exactly what you want. She is not only a savvy businesswoman -- she really loves what she does and is dedicated to it to the core, which means she takes the results as seriously as you do. I've been bouncing around stylists for a while now. I think that all the stylists at Main Street Annex are wonderful, and that this salon doesn't have a weak link on the whole team.
