    spicy guacamole burger ($15)
    Melissa T.

I stopped by for lunch and it gets BUSY. Food came out in ~15 minutes. You can place your order at the cashier and they'll bring the food to you. Free wifi and outlets available for studying (bring headphones as it can get super loud). For parking, there is a small lot in the front (unsure how much they charge/hr) or you can park on the street. Spicy Guacamole Burger (specials menu) - This sandwich is HUGE. It came on the house-baked pretzel roll which was soft and fluffy. The patty itself was a bit dry but not bad. My only complaint was that there was no spice to it at all...I was expecting a small kick to the burger but it tasted just like a regular burger. It came with french fries which I have to say were suprisingly super good! I would be back just to order a side of fries Lime Cilantro Chicken Wrap ($15) - I personally don't like cilantro so I ordered this without cilantro. I'm not sure if the cilantro was part of the sauce but the wrap itself was a bit dry. Butternut Squash Soup ($6.75) - super mushy texture, watered down flavor - wouldn't get again Freshly squeezed orange juice ($4.95/small) Iced Tea ($4.25/large) Overall, I would come back here again. They have lots of options and also waffles I would love to try.

    Turkey and avocado

Cute place. Nice menu. Loved my turkey and avocado sandwich on their crispy roll. Very tasty. It's like they squeezed lime on the avocado. Had such a nice flavor. Bread delicious. Massive sandwich. Prob should put on a smaller plate as it looks like it's missing something (Note first picture). Would be nice to get a few chips with it on the plate. Bags of Chips are at the counter if you want them for extra. Sort of a long line at lunchtime so the girl at the counter wasn't super friendly. You order there then go sit. Prob waited 10 minutes for my food. Not too bad. Reviews are correct on seating. Not super comfy seating but it is what it is. You aren't dining in for hours. I sat in corner area at a small table and the area to put your feet is weird as the bottom of the table has a massive bottom to it. Nice that they have a little self serve water station. Nice touch. Matcha was good. Love when places do the little designs. Cute. Would come back.

I stopped by this cafe while I was picking up an order nearby at a bakery. Needed some caffeine!! I ordered the Iced Belgian Mocha Latte and it was soooo tasty!!! It was a weekday around noon and the Cafe was packed! Seemed very popular. I would definitely come back to try other menu items! Very cute interior and plenty of seating.

MOST disrespectful job interview I have ever had in my life. I would not recommend no one either be a customer or an employee here: First, the blondy register girl working at the counter just straight up PRETENDED not to understand me because I have an accent from another country. Then, she was like "he is up here early", which is not a bad thing; to go early for an interview. THEN, when I tried to introduce myself to the owner, Marika, SHE POINTED AT SOME TABLE WITH HER ARM WITHOUT EVEN SAYING HELLO as if she is directing an animal towards some point. Completely RUDE and ARROGANT. It is hard to believe this "lady" is actually from Europe... THEN, she did not want to shake my hand before we start a conversation. I really wonder what type of "European" culture she belongs to. Why would you INVITE someone to have an interview with you if you do not want to shake hands or offer some water in the middle of July heat. THEN, she did not want to believe that I am from Istanbul ( I am Black and it must be her first time seeing a mixed-race person from Europe I guess. ) Just RACIST and DISCRIMINATIVE behaviour. They are so arrogant that they must be thinking they are the only one with a 400 sq.ft ish coffee shop/bakery with some 10-15 tables throughout North America Just DO NOT SPEND MONEY HERE THINKING YOU WILL EXPERIENCE UPSCALE EUROPEAN SERVICE. They are nowhere near how they commercialize themselves.

I would consider my visit a Moderately busy afternoon, the staff however was inattentive and slow, My order was charged wrong, Coffee was cold!!! The coffee station was out of sugar and cream, never to get that fixed!!! That's ok because my coffee was so cold that if I added cream, I may have just had milk.....tables were all dirty and full of crumbs that we went outside to sit...! Never again!!!

    loaded avocado & vanilla latte

Super yummy food, great portions, and very filling! A solid breakfast spot! I can see myself coming here a lot once I start grad school! As you walk in, the place is super spacious, well lit, and has a lot of seating (tables and stools). I love the ambiance and aesthetic of the place! A lot of the reviews on here are bad because of the wait time, however in my instance, I only waited 10 minutes to order and 10 minutes for my food and latte. And I happened to have came in on a Sunday morning. You first line up to order and then grab a table. The service was good as well! For food and drinks, I got a vanilla latte and the loaded avocado. The latte was super good! Great body, good layer of foam, and just the right amount of sweetness. The loaded avocado was equally as tasty. I wish there was a bit more salt, but overall it was delicious. Plus it was a huge portion! I'm looking forward to coming back to this place!

    Cappuccino

Came here 2x for breakfast. Amazing dark roast full-bodied cappuccino, not the bland like most coffee shops in the US where they serve light-bodied tea-like coffee. It tastes very European! Loved the nice ambiance with floor-to-ceiling windows, the whole space feels so light and airy. Met the owner, a Belgian from Brussels , super friendly, just like the staff!

Cashier was rude (maybe because we came in an hour before closing), drinks were watered down, latte was burnt, apple pie was ok.

We walked in with no reservation on Valentine's Day (bold), and the manager couldn't have been more welcoming. Super friendly, got us seated quickly, and set the tone right away. That kind of hospitality matters. The vibe? Cool, modern, slightly moody -- perfect accidental Valentine's dinner energy. The service was on point all night. Attentive, smooth, and genuinely warm. Now let's talk about the moment that activated my Dominican DNA. I ordered the Sweet Plantains with Cilantro Aioli as an appetizer and when I saw plátanos on that menu? República Dominicana presente. . I felt seen. For my main, I had the Temple Salad and added a burger patty (because balance is important ). Fresh, flavorful, satisfying. My son ordered a burger with truffle fries and I am STILL thinking about those fries today. Crispy. Perfect salt. That truffle flavor hit just right. Those fries deserve their own review. And because it was Valentine's Day and I believe in celebrating myself too, I had the Pineapple Express. Divine. Tropical. Smooth. The kind of drink that keeps the gozadera going. They said they could not guarantee the patio. But we were lucky to be able to sit outside anyway. The water is magical at night. More importantly, they have a very interesting bar program and delicious food. Lots of flavors going on and they balanced extreme well. Very delicious, vacation-like, and sophisticated. The bread here was also delicious as well the butter and the black salt it was served with. They have a whole vegan menu, but there were also some vegetarian things on the main menu so I stick with that. The beet salad was incredible. Huge portion, and some very delicious blue cheese which was in the dressing. It was very filling and I still had some to take back to my hotel. The wild mushroom "bolognese" (meatless) was tasty too, but it had a little too much of an herb (thyme?). Otherwise the meal was so very delicious and the setting was beautiful. It was founded by restaurateurs Daniel Kay, Marc Knight, and Robert Bolduc. Knight and Bolduc had previously had success when they opened the popular southwestern restaurant Geronimo Tequila Bar & Southwest Grill in the Elm City in November 2007. Kay had spent nearly 15 years serving as the president of Connecticut Fluid Power. In 2015, the three business partners came together to open a new venture at New Haven's historic City Point. The location (on the ground level below the Pequonnock Yacht Club) had been home to several restaurants for decades (most recently to Sage American Grill & Oyster Bar). After a complete remodel, they opened Shell & Bones. The trio brought in the award-winning executive chef Arturo Franco Camacho to serve as the culinary director. My wife and I recently had a lunch date at Shell & Bones. The restaurant had been on our bucket list for some time. We loved the nautical theme of the decor as well as the amazing views of New Haven Harbor. We were seated in the indoor patio; it was a little too cold and rainy during our visit for al fresco dining. For drinks, I ordered "The Breakfast Bloody Mary" (Ostreida oyster vodka, Tres Agaves Bloody Mary mix, chorizo, cocktail shrimp, bacon, cornichon, olives) while my wife had the "Lavender Limoncello Spritzer". The cocktails were just as visually pleasing as they were delicious. From the raw bar, we shared four "Lucky Lady" oysters, which were super light and smooth. For our entrées, I had the "Crab Cake B.L.T." (sweet & spicy bacon, romaine, tomato, chipotle mayo, brioche roll) and my wife had the "Shell & Bones Lobster Roll" (served hot w/ house-made Lobster Butter). For our sides, we both ordered "Hand Cut Truffle Parmesan Fries". My sandwich was bursting with flavor, my wife's lobster roll was one of the best we ever had, and the fries were just the icing on the cake. We looked over the dessert menu (which looked great), but we were way too full. We had a fantastic experience at Shell & Bones and look forward to returning!
