Date night. Great time! Picked out a reservation for this place based on the ambiance. Huge fan of the white palettes against the lighting fixtures they had. Not a big place, felt cozy, laid-back but still sleek. Onto the food itself, we got the cheese board as an app, with the Honey Lavender Duck Breast and Maison Wagyu Burger as our entrees. My partner and I were unfamiliar with duck so we rolled with that and were very happy with the result, partner can't stop thinking about it after dinner. As for the burger, I asked if I could remove the bun because I wanted to keep it low-carb and our server accommodated that by subbing the bun/fries with soy-glazed Brussels Sprouts which combined with the burger was definitely tasty. Here's a story: If The food had been spiced and properly seasoned, we would've given this five stars. It is unfortunate, because the ambience of the restaurant, the service, and the location were all great. However, my husband ordered a steak frites which was a beautiful cut of beef but completely unseasoned. Also, the green peppercorn sauce had no peppercorns! I ordered the Seabass in a curry sauce. Anybody knows Seabass knows it does not need a heavy sauce. So while the sauce was delicious, it completely overcame the fish. We'd love to give this place another shot. However, there are lots of really good restaurants in the area. read more

Maison more like Lameson. Just kidding it's actually really good. So the number one thing is this place is very pricy. For 1 app two entrees two drinks and dessert it was around 150$. The food was delicious though it's a very safe bet. I had the scallop pasta thing that was awesome and was a solid portion. Appetizer was not a solid portion but again it tasted great. Drinks however were not very good but that might be more of a me thing hating all bitter liquor and DC in its entirety only having dark liquors for some reason. Service was also really good, I only saw two people in the whole restaurant but they were very on top of everything. I'm going to give it a 4.3/5. If your parents are coming into town and want to take you somewhere nice, this is a good safe place to take them that's fancy enough. We will be back! Great food and service, not too crowded, nice atmosphere. Unlike many places in the neighborhood, we could actually hear each other. So, if it's date night or you'd like to catch up with friends, Maison Cheryl is a good choice. I enjoyed my salad and my husband loved the tempura shrimp appetizer. He had the salmon and I had the duck -- both delicious, but ask for a steak knife if you get the duck. We shared the amazing lava cake for dessert and only wished for a cup of tea or coffee to go with it. Otherwise, it was a wonderful dinner with just the right balance between elegant and comfortable. Heritage was our go-to place, so to be honest, we were skeptical, but we wound up being pleasantly surprised. We plan to return for drinks with friends because it's still a good place to hang out and we're looking forward to trying more appetizers. read more

Ben always has a great cocktail recommendation to pair with the food, although at this point , he knows what to make me without being asked. 18 months after my first visit to Maison Cheryl, I went back for dinner on a Sunday night. The service was 100x better than it was in September 2021. We did not have to wait long to place our order, food came out timely, and our server constantly checked on us. We ordered the cauliflower and shrimp tempura as appetizers and they were both delicious. Huge disappointment for a high price tag. There were numerous issues with our service (orders not submitted or submitted incorrectly, leading to long waits and water refills were essentially nonexistent), but the real issue here was the food. I spent over $100 for fatty, tough steak and raw dough. Three quarters of my food was inedible... this is sadly not an exaggeration. Others in my party were served cold food or items they didn't order. The singular highlight was the Pinot Grigio. Absolutely delicious. It would've been a better investment to get 5 glasses of that and actually enjoy what I'm paying for! read more

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.... First the good - nice menu, good food and wine choices, attentive service and most of the food was fresh and tasty. The bad - The sea bass dish one person ordered in my party was dropped on the floor and so the rest of us were served our dinner while they re-cooked the sea bass. 10-12 minutes later (while the rest of us were halfway if not more done) the fish arrived. Maison Cheryl did nothing to compensate us. The bass was still charged, desserts were not comped...nada. Not a good way to run your restaurant. The ugly - Person who ordered the sea bass had horrible food poisoning early the next morning. She thought the fish was undercooked..... read more

I've been to Maison Cheryl somewhere in the ball-park of a dozen times since it's opening and each time has been more delicious than the last. The atmosphere is charming -sleek modern and elegant. The staff has always been kind and professional. Then there's the food. Overall the menu is incredible! Tons of unique and interesting choices that make you want to keep coming back to try them all. One of my particular favorites is the Bucatini with fried Burrata. A true indulgence to be sure! Already one of my favorite pastas, the dish is a masterful blend of a light, bright and complex sauce with the decadence of the fried cheese on top. It's something I've never seen anywhere else! My husband and I went here last night for dinner. The atmosphere is really nice, but we were not impressed with the food/drinks. The wine was very warm, for red wine it shouldn't be warmer than the room you are sitting in... it was almost hot. The Buffalo cauliflower appetizer was good no complaints there. However our entrees were a big issue. My husband got the steak frites which is $45. We had to send the steak back to the kitchen because it was raw. They recooked it for us and it was still super rare. There were no fries with it, it's actually potatoes so keep that in mind. Green beans were not good. For $45, he ate only a few bites of the dish... back to my dinner. I chose the salmon. The flavor was good but it was the skinniest salmon I had ever seen. It was so thin, by the time I got the skin off there wasn't much left. We usually get dessert but we were just ready to get out of there after our entrees. So for $150, we had a few bites of super rare steak, a skinny salmon filet, and two glasses of some super warm red wine. And as of this morning my husband has been very sick to his stomach probably from the very rare steak. read more

We had a delightful Christmas Eve dinner at Maison Cheryl. It's a cozy restaurant, and the service was warm and attentive with just the right touch of added festivity. And the food - oh the food! I splurged on the seabass, which was delicious and memorable. I've never had fish cooked so perfectly! And the coconut rice and delicious green curry sauce were unforgettable as well. We also loved the crispy cauliflower as an appetizer. The baby scallop and shrimp orecchiette pasta was the least impressive item of our feast. My friends and I had a very nice dinner at Maison Cheryl - a first for all 5 of us. The drink menu included a small, but nice selection of mocktails. As a non-drinker this is something that was a pleasant surprise and not something you find often. Off to a great start! We had the truffle fries and brussel sprouts for starters - truffle fries were good but the brussels were delicious! I was honestly sad I had to share them with my friends :) For the main course I ordered the ratatouille and polenta, which was good but the flavor could be bigger and better. It was the weak point of the meal for me. Two of my friends really enjoyed their wagyu burgers and said they were delicious. The other friend had the bucatini and burrata and wasn't wowed - she ate the burrata but left half of the bucatini. For dessert we wanted to order the croissant donuts but they were already all sold out at 8:30 - and it was not very busy. Very disappointing! Instead we ordered a slice of chocolate cheesecake and some Madelines - both were very good, but the baked-to-order Madelines were so yummy! I'd like to come back and give the restaurant another try, but it's rather overpriced especially for such a casual spot. read more

My friend and I arrived for dinner at Maison Cheryl and were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The bistro was clean and visually appealing. Tables were sanitized. The server went out of his way to get to know us and make us feel like old friends. The service was impeccable, and the individuals with whom we interacted were friendly and very knowledgeable. Before perusing the menu, we chatted for a while over a couple of the house cocktails, which were amazing! With dinner, we enjoyed an incredibly delicious and uncharacteristically bold Pinot Noir (Belle Glos) -- This is coming from someone who has never before met a Pinot Noir that she liked! Dinner was delicious! As main courses, we ordered the steak frites and the duck breast. Both were cooked perfectly to order and were mouthwatering. Unlike a typical steak frites, this steak was huge, thick and juicy -- not a hangar steak. The sauces on both the steak and the duck were delicious and not overpowering. (A nearby diner raved about how incredible the bucatini with burrata and herb sauce tasted, so I'm anxious to return and try that dish!) Sadly, we were too full for dessert. The server not only brought us a box for the leftover steak, but he offered to wrap it in Saran Wrap so that none of the delicious sauce would leak. For sports lovers, there were two TVs broadcasting the Sunday night games (with the volume muted) over the bar, which could be seen from any of the dining tables. Despite the lovely variety of offerings, we settled on the French Scrambled Egg platters and the Breakfast BLTs. Every bite was delicious and plates were presented beautifully--terrific service, too. Madison Cheryl is a very welcome and wonderful addition to the DC, Arlington and Clarendon areas. The space is beautiful and inviting, full of warm spirit and definitely love of Parisian cuisine. The service when we dined at the bar was perfect.  We ordered the seared Salmon with Roasted New Potato, Trumpet Mushroom, Piquillo Peppers, Baby Heirloom Tomato, Tarragon Beurre Blanc. It was light and flavorful. We also ordered the Maison Wagyu Burger. The flavor and seasoning as well as the fries were spectacular. Although full from our entrees we indulged in the made to order Madeleines. They did not make it to a to go box. We can't wait to return and also recommend it highly. read more

Have to agree with Chris. The staff was super nice but the food was not what it said it was. Caesar salad had a weird orange dressing and shrimp tempura was served covered in sauce. And the prices are STEEP - $45 for steak frites?! We told the manager what we thought - he was very nice - but still were given the full bill. We won't be back anytime soon. We've stopped in here before for app's and drinks and this time tried the dinner meals. Cheese plate, Tomato Tartine, Seabass and Scallop/Shrimp Orechiette...all good. But we were surprised to see that the Old Fashion's my wife had ordered with the rye, Whistlepig, was $50 each drink; she had 3 in the night. Surprise, the Whistlepig she had asked for, well they only had 10 yr Whistlepig. But that rye at other places we frequent costs ~ $17 a shot. ?? Bill says the Cocktail was $6 and the Whistlepig was $44. So lesson learned. With so many other places available around there or a short drive to Trio, not sure if/when we'll be back. Note: if you go to this place; ask how much the drinks cost IN ADVANCE; or keep walking. read more

Came here for a date and shared a few "snacks" (shishito peppers and the cheese plate), one appetizer (the beet and citrus salad), an entree (the sea bass), and dessert (pot de crème). All were terrific; the cocktails were even better. Service on a Wednesday evening was great: food pacing was good and the waiter (who said he was also the bartender) was the right amount of attentive and helpful. We liked the ambience, it was pretty low-key. It wasn't cheap (but with all we ate and drank we weren't expecting it to be), but we will be back. read more

Delicious meal and great service at Maison Cheryl last night. We started with a couple of Old Fashioneds which had the right proportion of bourbon, sweet and bitters. Shared the shrimp tempura and Brussels with bacon and goat cheese. Both very good and generous portions. I finished with the boulebaisse which had a goodly amount of mussels and shrimp in a tasty broth. My companions had the sea bass and ratatouille which were equally good. Finished with the flourless chocolate cake and espresso crème brûlée. All in all a very fine meal. We will be back. read more

Absolutely phenomenal!! The bucatini is to die for and the Madeline's...OH MY GOSH!! I cannot put into words how good the Madeline's are.
