brioche french toast
Stella G.

I came here for brunch over the weekend with a group of 4. It's definitely a dress to impress kinda place. The music is so loud; it's very hard to have a conversation here. But that's just the vibe of this place! I had very low expectations for the food, but it actually wasn't bad. Definitely overpriced though. We got the tuna tartare and the foie gras to share for the table. Both were fine, nothing amazing. I got the brioche french toast, and this was the absolute standout dish. I'm so happy I ordered this! The chantilly cream that comes with it is delicious too. During our meal, a magician came out to our table which I definitely wasn't expecting. He was actually pretty good! Towards the end, they started to close the curtains and start the show. We had to leave shortly after to catch a game, but I'm glad I got to see a little bit of it. It kinda feels like you're in a whole other world, and it's jarring to step outside afterwards. Overall, I'm happy I tried this place, but I don't feel the need to go back.

Is this restaurant in Miami? Ibiza? St. Barth's? Paris? No, it's in New York! SoHo to be exact. This is Maison Close, a French restaurant that basically turns into a club after 11 pm. There is no dining minimum for brunch or reservations before 10 pm but any reservation past 10 pm has a dining minimum per person and the exact amount depends on how large your party is. Just know if you have a 10 pm reservation and get there at 10 pm, you most likely will not be seated for another 20-30 minutes because the before 10 pm reservations are wrapping up. The atmosphere is loud, lively, and the staff are attentive. The music is electronic party music. We heard one afrobeats song that was edited into the electronic vibe, so that was cool. But overall we really did have a fun time. If you come here, be ready to dance! The gnocchi, lamb chops, and chicken were delicious. The truffle pasta was average and the filet was a tad bit overcooked but not bad. First time trying beef tartare and I thought it was okay. The cocktail shrimp was bland. The drinks were delicious!

We had a pleasant dinner at Maison Close. The restaurant has a really nice decorative ambiance. Food wise, it was decent. My favorite dish was the oysters. Service was alright! Glad, I finally got to try this restaurant out.

We visited this restaurant to celebrate my friend's birthday, which required a $150 spend per person. The prices are definitely on the higher side, but you're paying for the atmosphere and live performances rather than just the food. For appetizers, we had the ahi tuna, beef tartare, Maine lobster salad, escargot, and oysters. The ahi tuna and escargot were the highlights. For entrees, we tried the truffle pasta, ribeye, and French toast--all were good but didn't quite justify the price. This is a great spot for a fancy celebration, but I wouldn't return solely for the food. Service could've been better. We had to flag them down multiple times to order.

Incredible. I came for brunch around my birthday and came with a large party which is always a bit nerve wracking in terms of service. I can confidently say Maison Close nailed every aspect of our experience. The lobster croissant was impeccable, the escargot brought me back to Paris and the rest of my party had zero complaints about their dishes. The service was wonderful and warm and the ambiance was perfect for a brunch turned into celebration. I cannot wait to come back and have another wonderful experience.

I came here for a birthday dinner at 10. Immediately upon entering the spot was super vibey. People were super dressed up and the spot was really packed. There was loud music and it seemed like overall a great time. However, the host had told us all to rise within 15 minutes otherwise our table might be given away. We were not seated until 30 minutes into our reservation, which we paid $3k to reserve. The standing area was also super packed. I felt like I was really in the way and was overall not a great time. That being said once we were seated things were much better. We ordered a lot of different appetizers and entrées. I would say the orders include the foie gras, escargot, and oysters for the apps. For the main, I was a big fan of the steaks. Later on in the night, the spot turns into a burlesque show. These shows were definitely really interesting and nothing like the burlesque shows I've seen so far. For example, one of them was giving spring break vibes where the people came out in lingerie and facemasks. Also anytime anyone orders a bottle the bar service is super crazy and funny. Overall, even though the service wasn't great to start my friends and I ended up having a really good time. I think this is definitely a good spot for a birthday dinner.

I came back for brunch & I now can rest assure that this is my new favorite restaurant in the city! The service/ staff are absolutely phenomenal, this is the best time/ brunch I have ever had in a restaurant ever. My french toast was amazing!!!!! Whoever is managing please keep up the great work, this restaurant needs to be around forever!

Everything about this place was great! From the food, to the drinks, to the service. But the absolute best thing was their pornstar martinis! I really enjoyed this place! I recommend booking a 10pm resy for the show/party vibe on a Friday or Saturday.

To maximize your experience I would suggest you come with a group for a later reservation (for the burlesque show). After a certain time you have a minimum spend requirement. For our group of 3 there was a $150 minimum spend per person. If I came here alone and only ordered 1-2 items off the menu it could easily feel like my money isn't well spent because each item can be quite expensive and the portion sizes are on the smaller side. With a group and minimum spend you get to try a good range of items on the menu and get to experience the restaurant. We found it not too difficult to reach the spend minimum as we ordered 2 drinks per person, some appetizers to share, and our entrees. Our bill was about $220 per person at the end of the night (not including tip) Like I mentioned the portion sizes were small so there wasn't any food leftover to possibly take home. So keep that in mind if you're super hungry. The hostess and people standing by the door weren't too friendly when we walked up to the restaurant. Not a great first impression because they didn't really greet us they're just asking if you have a reservation like it's an exclusive club... However, the waiter and the bartenders were extremely nice and made our experience pleasant. As far as the food I highly recommend the lamb chops, truffle pasta, and escargot. I'm still thinking about the pasta! I ordered a lychee martini which was really good. And the pornstar martini was truly the highlight of my night!!! The show was short and decently entertaining, but it definitely changed the vibe of the restaurant and gave it more a of party vibe, making it a good place to start before your night out on the town. Within an hour of the show people start to clear out. I would definitely come again with a small to medium sized group!

Came here recently with high hopes the ambience was definitely a highlight, very chic and Instagram-worthy. Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ended. The food was just okay nothing memorable and definitely not worth the price tag. What really put us off was the service. We were told there was a 2-hour minimum, which made it seem like we could relax and enjoy our time, but the reality was the complete opposite. We felt VERY rushed from the moment we sat down. Plates were cleared quickly, the pacing was off, and the vibe felt more like we were being shuffled out than welcomed in. All in all, it was more style than substance. I don't think we'll be returning.

Absolutely loved this place ! We came to celebrate a friend's birthday and we loved it from the food to the service to the ambiance. Service was exceptional. All employees including bartenders are super friendly and cocktails were delicious. They actually serve the pornstar martini which is not on the menu but recommend to order! It's passion fruit, sweet but super refreshing. Food was also so delicious. I highly recommend the escargot and lamb chops top choice ! If you book dinner after 10pm you get to experience the burlesque show and partying. So be ready to dance. It's a great spot for a birthday celebration or group friends gathering. I would like to come for their brunch as well. I highly recommend to give it a try !

Oh, what a delight to stumble upon Marseille on a rainy day!…read more We stumbled into Marseille completely by chance. We were actually going to a different restaurant but the rain came down so hard, we needed to go somewhere closer. I want to come back and have a true meal here! (Apparently they do a discounted steak frites and that is my love language.) The staff very kindly accommodated us even thought we didn't have a reservation (we were only two). Everything in Marseille is done with a purpose. The waiters are all dressed in the same charming uniform. The cocktails are crafted with certain flavor profiles in mind. The menu is there to whisk you away to a little, remote village in France - except, you're on 9th Avenue in New York City and the street is littered with pushy walkers and....well, you get the drill. Anyway. Marseille begins the meal with the most excellent bread service. A fresh, hot sourdough roll is placed upon your table, along with herbed butter and oil. I could make a meal out of that bread alone. My cousin and I split the mushroom ravioli as an appetizer - a little salty, but excellent. The flavors were very well balanced and six was a good number for a dinner portion. We actually opted for the French onion soup as out main, and it was probably the best French onion soup we've ever had. There was also so much, we could not finish it. My Francais G&T was unbelievably good and came with a cornichon. Actually, shout out to our busser (I wish I got his name!) who accidentally took my drink-pickle away and had the waiter bring over more to make up for it. It was such a kind gesture and he deserves to be awarded for his attention to detail. (The wait staff overall was excellent. Kudos to the tall waiter with the snake ring and the shorter waitress with the great eyebrows. Again, I wish I got their names!) Oh, and as a bonus - they gave us some incredible truffles as a parting gift because we didn't stay for dessert. Like I said - the attention to detail here is on point! Overall, this is a fabulous spot. I would love to try brunch here!

Although I would've preferred to have been seated away from a family with 3 loud, ill-behaved kids, it was still a nice cozy table. On our table we found a nice Happy Anniversary card, which was very sweet! Our server Selma L. greeted us warmly and with a smile. Selma L. was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu and remained very available and checked in on us often throughout our meal. I knew I wanted the Escargots en Persillade(my favorites!), and we paired them with Mushroom&Ricotta ravioli, and the Branzino. Every dish was perfectly paired with sauces and flavors blended well together. The Branzino skin was perfectly crispy, the potatoes were a little softer than I'd personally like but were still tasty. We made sure to save room for dessert and I'm so glad we did. We tried the chocolate lava cake and the cheesecake and were gifted two glasses of dessert wine and truffles. Everything is made from scratch, in-house. The New York cheesecake stood out ahead of the lava cake but I would order both again. This restaurant is perfectly situated to accommodate you for a pre-show dinner, and offer discounted meals starting at 8pm-close. We'd definitely return to try other menu items, and enjoy another date night, albeit not surrounded by kids!!!

(This didn't affect me since on my first visit I only ordered soup.) Same thing happened this time, and there was a significant delay between our soup/salad course and entrees. We were told the kitchen was backed up. this is apparently the norm. For appetizers, the French onion soup was a gold star dish. My friend had the goat cheese salad which she said was also very good. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was good, and a hard-to-find dish in NYC. While eating our entrees, the server never checked on how things were or if we needed anything. Once finished, we sat there for a long time waiting for our plates to be cleared, and finally had to "announce" that we were done and request our dessert (as we had ordered the prix fixe menu). In all, the meal too 2.5 hours due to the slow service. The soup remains fantastic. I'm downgrading my review to recommend this spot only for soup and salad and not a full, hours-long meal.
