11/04 Majestic Diner is unequivocally the best restaurant in the area, confirm by renowned elites of Long Island Yelp Elite Squad; Cynthia, Bill, Joel, and Joe, all of whom I am connected with. Arriving at this restaurant my plus 1 seemed to be a real treat. The parking lot was packed to full, so we parked on the side street. Walking inside I felt comfortable and cozy with a splash of excitement due to the retro setting. I can appreciate the beautiful aesthetics and the comfortable environment. The service was quick, and the staff was attentive. Our waitress was gregarious and very kind. I tried the farmers omelette, turkey sausage, home fries, and whole wheat toast. The omelette was impeccable fresh, a true delight to my palate. The turkey sausage was an added treat, plump and juicy. The home fries were delectable given its balance of being crispy and soft at the same time. The toast is a standard taste everywhere unless you get stale bread. My plus one had the BLT which she really enjoyed but her home fries weren't to her liking due to the temperature of the food. I've been here before many times and as a years went on I questioned why I would go back and spend the money. But a family member really wanted diner food so we went. And I was craving a standard BLT. And this hit the mark so well. Right amount of everything on it I even got fries or cheese. Something basic like this is what I think a diner is good for. We also had a milkshake that was just sweet enough. I would recommend for an easy meal. read more

I've been in town for a couple weeks for work and been wanting to go to this diner. Upon entering your greeted by servers who will see you and it has a very old-school diner vibe. We seated at a booth and greeted promptly by a server. Red through the menu and decided on a Spanish omelette. Unfortunately, some of their items don't have descriptions. I assumed a Spanish omelette would have some kind of taco meat, Spanish vegetables, etc. When it came out, it had vegetables that were sautéed in a red sauce, which were good, but there were mushrooms, which I cannot eat so I had to pick them out. If there was a proper description in the menu, I would have avoided this omelette. I did end up eating the rest of it and it was very tasty as worth the home fries and the bacon and toast were crisp and hot. They were not really quick with refills on the coffee so I am deducting a star for that. But I would definitely recommend this establishment. Just make sure you ask questions if you have them about the menu. It was also a very clean restaurant and it felt really clean while you were sitting in there. read more

Majestic Diner - Westbury We were driving by and saw the Majestic Diner and we decided to stop in for a quick bite and was really impressed! I ordered the BLT with home fries, the bacon was crispy, the lettuce and tomato were fresh, and the toast was perfectly golden. The home fries were nicely seasoned and cooked just right, with a good mix of crispy edges and soft centers, however it was like warm, preferences would have been hot. The service was friendly and very efficient our food came out fast, and the staff checked on us to make sure everything was good. The diner itself has that classic, cozy feeling, with clean booths and a relaxed atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you feel welcome the moment you walk in. With a vast menu ranging between breakfast, lunch and dinner Majestic delivers large portions on all. The aesthetic of the diner is fairly standard and when we last ate there, the ceiling started leaking. Despite all that though, the service is there is the staff does attempt to make things right and good. Another rainy day, another diner. It was 2pm and it was nearly empty. I never saw a diner empty like that. The ambiance was like moat diners - decent lighting, different rooms, tables and booths. When the first, greasy looking waiter came over, I asked if they had a turkey BLT with avocado. He looked at me condescendingly and said a BLT is Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato. I did not like his attitude towards me and I said, "I KNOW what a BLT is". From that point on, I wasn't comfortable. Luckily, we had 2 other waiters who were nice and polite and gave me what I wanted. My water was refilled as was my hubby's decaf. He had a Crab Benedict with large crabcakes and a rich Hollandaise with fries. Because he loves me, he gave me his crispiest fry. True love. For the first few years post Covid it has been quite depressing to go to a diner. Before Covid diners would give you some type of courtesy appetizer like carrot sticks, celery sticks, chickpeas, and we have seen nothing but Diners going out of business. Diners have to provide value. I was pleased to say Majestic diner in Westbury has started to provide value. They provided cursory snacks with your dinner. They provided chickpeas with some pickles and a coleslaw. Wow maybe Covid is officially over. They also offer a Monday to Friday breakfast special. It's not offered over the weekend which I did tell management they should start considering that as Well. I had chicken souvlaki and my guest had French toast. Both were delicious. Gigantic portions fairly priced. You get a lot for your money. The food is as good as any diner in the area

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I had a very disappointing experience at this diner. The owners were extremely rude and argumentative. Instead of trying to help, they talked back and even started to fight with us over simple questions. They were no help whatsoever, and the overall customer service was horrible. Communication skills were lacking, and it felt like they didn't care about their customers at all. On top of that, the food was terrible, we do not eat pork and were served pork after making it very clear with our all turkey request. On top of that, we were charged for the turkey as if it was extra meat we were ordering. Nothing about the experience made me want to return. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Just over 34 years ago, this was my first Long Island diner when I was here interviewing for a job at Adelphi. The food and service were great, but I was especially impressed by their desserts case. Now, they have been through several iterations, but this is still high on our list of diners in the county. For breakfast, I am quite impressed with their Oscar omelette, with generous portions of asparagus and topped with holandaise sauce. My wife loves their vegetable quesadilla. The service is always spot on. A perfect oasis of food when we are out shopping. read more

It seems that I have repeatedly been prompted to review Majestic Diner, of which there are seemingly two on Long Island. That said, I must start out with a slogan with 5 words. "LAWN GILAND" DINER FEATURING ABBONDANZA There is a silver lining in some clouds and this was the silver lining on an overnight stay in this area using points for lodging. When you leave one of the 2 NYC airports in Queens and board the LIRR to stay this far out, the hassle and work involved might outweigh the savings. (I learned that the Northern New Jersey lodging options make more sense, since you can use NJ Transit at very reasonable prices and it will put you right into Port Authority in Manhattan.) At any rate, I looked at my phone for diner food and Majestic Diner came up. With its metallic exterior and photos of bodacious and abundant food, I was interested. It was about a mile to get there, which I did on foot, complete with an umbrella, and it's on a major boulevard that has all the malls and big box shopping. Once inside, it's decked out as an old school diner, and perhaps even nicer than most adhering to this theme. There are many booths and, because of the big windows and good lighting, it's bright inside, which is what I prefer. I asked for a booth adjacent to a window so I could savor "Lawn Giland" street life. I saw the portions going to customers after sitting down ... and after seeing the menu board specials. These are not $15 packaged deals, given that this is a more expensive area and, well, not Buffalo. However, it's a good value and, coming in at mid-afternoon, the meal served as lunch and dinner. The meal consisted of chicken breasts in a tasty sauce atop a bed of pasta, a salad, cole slaw with a pickle spear, bread, a large slice of chocolate cheesecake, and refillable coffee. Everything on that list fetches at least 4 stars. Also, the ingredients were very fresh and I especially noticed this with the salad. I would have liked to have given the chocolate cheesecake 5 stars, but that is reserved for the now gone Concord Diner in Valley Stream, also on Long Island, where the chocolate was drizzled in to look marbled and which I ate during a lot of rumbling, which, as a Californian, made me think of an earthquake when it was just the LIRR going by. That was the best cheesecake I've eaten to date. The service at Majestic Diner was friendly and attentive. Could it be that taking photos tends to ratchet up the level of service? I ponder this every now and then. The patrons were also friendly. As I took photos, these two ladies from Brooklyn, but native to Poland, began conversing with me from their adjacent table, which was also pleasant. This also makes me ponder if I have a sign saying "foreigners, talk to me," since my friends observe this dynamic and state that it rarely happens to them! Continuing with the armchair sociology, many people have a knee jerk reaction to dislike and distrust anything related to the tri-state New York area. What I notice is that people in this area have routinely been more animated and more friendly to me than anyone in, say, Chicagoland or other Midwestern metropolitan areas has ever been and which is the inverse of the stereotypes. With the food being abundant, I was glad that I walked a mile to and from Majestic Diner. Not only that, I got to size up Long Island better and, for the most part, was amazed that many of the major streets are as large, or larger, than those in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley. It's time to wrap this up. So, here is what we have: 1) tasty food, 2) plenty of it, 3) wait staff that is amicable, 4) potential value - depending on what and how you order, and 5) an elaborate and nicely put together old school diner that I found appealing both inside and out. Came here with a friend after catching a movie since not too many places open late. We both got burgers, he got the Twin burger Deluxe and I got the Texas Burger Deluxe. This place has so much nostalgia for me because we used to take the kids here when they were little before we got really busy with their travel sports over a decade ago. We started coming here because they had the best sausages. Not skinny anorexic links or those mystery flat discs. Fat juicy sausages. They seem a little shorter than I remember but at least their girth is still the same. Kids got blueberry pancakes and banana pancakes, and wifey got challah French toast. I got over easy eggs, home fries and toast to go with the sausages. Home fries have peppers and onions, and are just greasy enough to be tasty but not disgusting. I was very happy with my dish although the banana pancakes and French toast only got meh reviews. Blueberry pancakes got a better reception. Prices have gone up a lot since we were last here but what else is new. Service was good with many refills of our coffees. They also redid the interior so it does not look dated. If it was just me, I would give the full 4 stars but based on rest of my family, probably more like 3.5 stars. So order appropriately and you will not be disappointed here! read more

I was planning on leaving a four star review, except I'm disabled. I can't walk and the handicap parking space had an orange cone blocking it and a wheel barrel with a couple of bags of cement parked in it. Other wise this was definitely a four star diner. Our server was pretty good, he kept the coffee full all the time, was able answer questions quickly, mad sure we had everything we asked for and clearly out the dishes really fast. What we ate. My daughter had one of the lunch specials. Macaroni and cheese, it came with a choice of soups, she had matzoball soup, a drink and dessert. She must have liked it, she ate every last bit. My wife had avocado toast on an English muffin. She said it was good. And I had the steak fajita bowl. It was served in a tortilla bowl over rice. It's a bit spicy but very good. So disappointing on multiple levels!! My pepper jack cheese omelette had a paper thin layer of egg with an obvious pre-sliced processed piece of cheese which was not even melted! The hash browns that came with it tasted like grease! Additionally, it was a breakfast special that was supposed to come with juice which the waiter never even asked us, what we wanted and we had to check the menu to make sure it was part of it. This review comes from a foodie who lives in Oklahoma. I travel regularly for work and when in this part of thr country I make it a point to frequent these types of diners. We just don't have them like this at home. The Majestic Diner is EXACTLY what I was looking for and it made my day........ twice. I came in one morning for breakfast and enjoyed a fantastic and gargantuan omelette. It was waaaaaaay more than I could eat by myself and was super yummy. Being from the south I prefer hashbrowns with breakfast but they simply don't exist here. I like a good change of pace though and the home style taters were good with some tobasco sauce. My second time in was a late night venture where I simply wanted to enjoy some desert out of the display case and splurge a little before my flight home the next day. I was NOT disappointed. The NY cheesecake was simply phenomenal and this triple chocolate cake I sampled with it nearly out ne in a food coma!!! So glad I had a hot cup of coffee to keep me this side of awake to wash it down with. For me this is an easy 5 stars. Great location, super friendly staff and amazing food!!! read more

I've driven by this diner at least 1000 times, never gave it any thought. After the Billy Joel New Years Eve concert, I'm thinking what my sister in law said the second I started the car: Diner? I know of one place that advertises open 24 hours and that's Majestic Diner on Old Country Rd. We walk into a typical diner dotted across Long Island. Lots of neon and liquor bottles by the register. I have to ask, who are these folks ordering cocktails at a family restaurant? I ask my wife, what do you think I'm ordering? Without question she says Challah French Toast with fat sausage links. My wife think she knows me so well? They better be fat links or I'm not ordering them! Haha A nice waiter comes to our table. I ask about the links, he says links links. Yes but are they fat?! If they're skinny that's no bueno. He said links links again and places our order with the kitchen. My wife? Somehow has the giggles at 2am. My sister in law is laughing, I smile because my plate is now coming to meeeee! Perfectly cooked diner challah French Toast with hefty sausage links. And packets of syrup.... This why I don't like diners. The fake ass syrup packets.. why. Why!!! I tear into the packets and pour away. My brother in law is eating a responsible, heart healthy turkey burger. If he wants to start 2019 being boring, then it's on him. I'm rockin' this French Toast like it's 1999 up in here. The crowd of patrons were nice Long Island folks, everyone enjoying their meals. I was not impressed by the strawberry cheesecake but the apple crumb cake was really good. I really wanted apple pie which they didn't have but I'm glad I got the apple crumb cake. Everyone knows diner food is not the greatest, but this place, oh my goodness. Not to mention the wait staff that isn't familiar with the written menu. After pointing out that he didn't bring the sides that went with her turkey dinner, he asked my sister to show him on the menu where it says that mashed potatoes and green beans come with it. Then he went to the manager to check that it was correct. My "famous garden salad" was iceburg with unripe tomatoes and cucumbers. Famous for its steep price, I guess: $17! Check my reviews, and you will see that this is the first negative review I ever have given in the many years since posting my first Yelp review. That is NOT because I have not had a bad experience, but because when it comes to restaurants and other small businesses, I generally give the benefit of the doubt and live by the motto that if I cannot say something nice, I don't say anything at all. Not this time. This morning my wife and I had the distinct displeasure of having breakfast at the Majestic Diner. It certainly was not the first time I (or we) experienced horrible food and/or service. The eggs were so greasy as to be virtually inedible (I had a cheese omelet and my wife just scrambled eggs), and even the toast was for all practical purposes inedible (clearly stale, hard-as-a-rock bread that was nevertheless toasted and served). Further, after putting down the food the waiter never once returned to ask if we needed anything else, or how the food was (perhaps he knew not to ask). But none of that is not the reason I am posting this negative review. Rather, the reason for this negative review, and the reason that my wife and I never will return to the Majestic Diner, is that the manager, who identified himself as "George," literally lied to us in response to a specific question that I asked him regarding the freshness of the French fries that were served to my wife. I caught him red-handed, and red-faced -- and even recorded the conversation for posterity (and for purposes of defending any claim brought by the Majestic Diner in response to this review). Specifically, the French fries served to my wife looked like they were downright old -- the sort of fries that look like they were left over in the fryer the night before and refried in the morning. (The last time I worked in a restaurant was about 40 years ago when I was in college, but I still remember what old French fries looked like that we did not serve and discarded.) Absolutely disgusting. We would have asked the waiter about the fries, but he never returned. At one point, I flagged down another restaurant employee and asked him to ask the manager to come to our table. "George" (I don't know if that's his real name) then came to our table, and we showed him the French fries in question. He told us that the fries had a "special corn starch coating" that was very popular at the Majestic Diner and others on Long Island. I told George that we had been to many other diners on Long Island over the last few decades, and had never seen French fries like those -- George said he did not know what to tell us, but that those are the fries that they serve, and that they are very popular with that "coating." My wife and I then ate a few, but they were disgusting, and so we did not eat more. I hope we don't get ill. After we finished our "food," and got up to leave the diner, we noticed that NONE of the other French fries on other diners' tables looked like those served to us (my wife). None of them appeared to have the alleged "special corn starch coating" .... to the contrary, the fries looked fresh and normal. So when we got to the front of the restaurant, and after I stupidly paid the bill in full out of habit while George was on the phone, I waited to ask George again about the French fries. But this time, having felt there was a good possibility that George had lied to me, I recorded the conversation using an app on my phone. When George finished his call, I again asked him why our fries looked as they did, when none of the fries on the other diners' tables looked like ours. I offered George the opportunity to walk through the diner with me to take a look if he was unsure of what I was describing. George said he did not need to look, and instead changed his told me that he had "no idea" why our fries looked as they did -- and in response to several questions that I asked him he repeated that he had "no idea" why our fries looked as they did. Most outrageous, George stated (still on the recording) that had we asked him about the fries "nicely," that he would have offered to get us replacement fries when we first called him over!!!!! But we were not rude in any way -- we just asked that he come over to our table and when he arrived and asked "how is everything" we simply told him of the bad service and asked him about the way the fries looked. In fact, when George lied and told us that the fries had a "special corn starch coating" and that they were "very popular that way," I LITERALLY APOLOGIZED for questioning the fries, and told him that I had just never seen that before. In reliance on George's lie, my wife and I tried those fries. I don't know about you, but in my humble opinion, if the Majestic Diner served those putrid fries, it probably would serve any old and/or spoiled food. And if George would lie to us, he'd lie to you!
