Ended up here looking for a place to eat late at night that had gluten, soy and dairy free options for my friend. Apollo had gluten free penne that could be used with any of the sauces they had. My friend decided to get her gluten free pasta with white clam sauce and she seemed to be satisfied. As for me I got the eggplant parmigiana that came with a side pasta and soup or salad. Portions were generous and I had enough for lunch the next day. Eggplant parmigiana was executed well with thin sliced, breadcrumb coated eggplant that was properly fried, coated with a mild marinara sauce and topped with melted cheese. Side pasta was overcooked. The red sauce was standard. The size of the plate made it difficult to mix the sauce and pasta without spilling some off of the plate. Had a sip of another friend's Bloody Mary that was decent and was spicer than others I tried. She also offered to try some of her baked clams that had a nice blend of breadcrumbs, clams and spices. I didn't get to try the buffalo burger. My friend seemed to be ok with it but not thrilled either. Service was average. The bathroom was clean but the major issue was the temperature inside which was at least 15 degrees colder than the rest of the restaurant. Not sure why that was the case. read more

The food and service here is top notched. I'm always skeptical of what will be served in a diner but the staff is super friendly and the food is served nice and hot. The portion size is generous and you are guaranteed to leave with a doggie bag. My omelette was excellent but my friend's burger stole the show. It was med well and juicy. Update - this time it was dinner at the diner. Both girls had the salmon "high and dry" and well done, with a steamed veggie (broccoli pictured), plus a salad appetizer with challah and sesame breadsticks basket (not pictured). My buddy had the Manhattan clam chowder plus the fisherman's platter with a baked potato. I think I may have stolen the show with my stack of large banana walnut whole wheat pancakes (and they had sugar-free syrup). For my wife and I only $52 including tax - very good deal - very good food, but the decaf coffee was just okay. Large parking lot and clean restrooms were the highlight. Waitress was friendly and service was fast and accurate. I had the special zucchini omelette with toast and home fries. I was disappointed as there were only some sautéed/lightly grilled zucchini on top of the omelette. Nothing else no flavoring at all. The potatoes were the same, just sliced boiled potatoes that were fried on one side. I was excited to find two microscopic green peppers. Salt and pepper weren't able to help. They serve margarine not butter for the toast. The chicken teriyaki sandwich was good but messy two pieces of chicken. The fries that came with it were good. Went into the Apollo at seated instantly into a very busy dining room. Always good to see that they're busy you know the food is fresh. The service is always good. I went with burger. That was very good. Unfortunately they didn't give me lettuce or tomato and everything is extra. The burger was good, but the presentation I would imagine would be much better if you just added a leaf of lettuce and a slice of tomato and an onion slice. They're not that expensive and they get good money for the burger so I was a little weirded out by that but the food was amazing as usual my friend got a Greek salad that was over the top. I go to this establishment pretty frequently. In my experience, this place has never disappointed. Enjoy the casual diner vibes. The staff is friendly and prompt. The menu is large finding something that will fit your mood is very likely. My favorite thing to have is two sunny side eggs, turkey bacon, and avocado. But I have also had sandwiches, soups and muffins as well. Went cuz of a rec but was really disappointed. Got the lunch special deal which comes with a drink, soup, entree, & dessert. I got an iced tea. It tasted weird, the flavor was off. How do you go wrong with iced tea? I got lobster bisque soup which had too much flour. It was ok otherwise. For entree, I got stuffed mushroom with crab. This comes with 3 stuffed mushrooms, what seemed to me like saag paneer sitting on top of half a tomato. Apparently, it was feta with some other spinach thing, Greek style. It was sour, so I liked it. There are 2 leafy greens, 3 slices of lemon & a slice of orange. The stuffed mushroom with crab was too salty. My coworker got a burger which he liked. The curly fries & onion rings were good. My other coworker got ravioli which I think she liked. My last coworker got chicken Parmesan with spaghetti on another dish. The spaghetti has some type of tomato based sauce on top. Didn't seem like marinara cuz it was too bland. For dessert, we got, chocolate mousse cake, chocolate pudding, & bread pudding. The latter 2 come with whipped cream on top. The chocolate pudding looked good & I think my coworker enjoyed it. I didn't try it cuz I wasn't sure it if contains gelatin, & the server didn't know, nor did he try to find out. I really liked the bread pudding. It was sweet, strongly scented & flavorful. My coworker didn't like it. I didn't like the chocolate mousse cake. It honestly tasted like chocolate buttercream cake. The mousse definitely didn't taste like mousse. My sister came here for a quick bite to eat after visiting a family member at the Oceanside hospital. We both were in the mood for French Onion Soup, and it's funny because we called Baldwin Coach Diner first (because it was closer) and they don't sell FOS, but Apollo did, so just like the greek god himself, we took our Chariot to the diner. My dog's name is Apollo too, so really, anything "Apollo" piques my interest. Obv, fate brought us here (besides FOS). Long story short, this is some of the best french onion soup I've ever had. A full crock, a tender slice of Italian bread, gooey cheese. We also split a Grecian wrap (differs from the Greek salad wrap because Grecian has chicken, though both are the exact same price). It came with fries and our server gave us each coleslaw and a pickle...and when a pickle is good... YUM. It was a half-sour and crisp. Next time, I'll order extra pickles because those were so delish. Overall, two soups and a wrap split between two people was just right, and we had leftover fries and coleslaw! My friend and I hiked to this diner! A 20 minute walk to be exact. We love this place. It feels like one of those authentic "All-American" diners that seem to be dwindling down with time. The place is huge, parking available and clean! The minute we sat down we were given everything we needed (menu, napkins, utensils) including water without asking (which we appreciated). The menu is huge and full of variety, a little if everything for anyone. Between ordering and getting our food it was about 40 mins which we also appreciated because we felt that not everything was popped in a microwave. The eggs were fresh and the bacon was GREAT. Well I'll start with the food. Portions are generous, food is delicious!! I had on 3 occasions a Caesar salad which is delicious! Huge chunks of Parmesan cheese, Caesar dressing. And croutons that are freshly made by Apollo. Absolutely delicious. I have on several occasions ordered chicken fettuccine Alfredo which is ridiculously the best Alfredo I've eaten in years. It doesn't disappoint. Service is quick for takeout and the place is super clean and the dining room and all areas are well maintained and modern decor. This is now my favorite diner!! read more

When you and your hubby can't agree on what to eat, the best place to go is the diner. The Apollo is our local diner and is open 24 hours. The ambiance is like most diners with multiple rooms, tables, and booths. I noticed this is the place groups of older women and groups of guys go to have their time with friends. They also don't add salt to a lot of foods as most of us have or will get high blood pressure. The service is almost always excellent as it was today. They will get you or make you anything you want, even if it's not on the huge menu. The food is always satisfying. The portions are huge. My drink was a chocolate egg cream. I got a turkey BLT with a baked potato instead of fries. Perfect. I could only eat a quarter of it, but we like leftovers, so we're good. Hubby got a turkey platter with fresh, delicious turkey with an apple stuffing, cranberry sauce, sauteed zucchini, baked potato, huge Greek salad which he packed to go before it hit the table, matzoh ball soup, a real cherry Coke (cherry syrup in Coke), and a chocolate cigar pastry. There are enough leftovers for 2 more meals at least. This was all included in his complete feast, uh... I mean, dinner. The only thing I don't like is the prices have skyrocketed over the years - as have most prices. The 2 of us went to this place after dropping the kids off. There are plenty of parking space at the parking lot. We are greeted & seated right away. No wait at all. We ordered corned beef hash with sunny side eggs, and eggs Florentine Benedict. The food is great - the hollandaise sauce is well seasoned, poached eggs are just right; corned beef hash is, well, corned beef hash. It's good. The only thing that brings down to 4 stars was their bathroom - It's already smelly at 10 in the morning. I will be back for the food, hope their bathroom gets better next time. read more

This place is fantastic and everything a hungry out of towner could want in a breakfast diner. Friendly staff, fast service, a great menu, and of COURSE wonderful food. We also went with a black and white cookie to go and WOWZA - I think that whole pastry/dessert counter could be a party in and of itself. I went with an feta tomato omelette with home fries and a bagel. Did I turn the omelette into a dreamy breakfast sandwich? The answer is YES. Highly recommend, though not for the faint of heart. It is a LOT of food. My date enjoyed the heck out of his pancakes and sides, and our coffees were piping hot. Our servers and the host took great care of us considering it was a busy Saturday morning. They sat us right away and we're on their A game. I just had cannoli French toast from them. And if you love cannolis, you have to try this. I also never heard of cannoli French toast until today . This was l the best French toast I ever had , You don't even need syrup. It was sweet enough from the cannoli filling and it's really filling. I only ate half and took the other French toast home. Had breakfast here Easter morning and the food was very delicious. What stood out more was that the coffee guy asked if we needed coffee all the time, and he had a great smile on his face. You have to respect a place that stays open when most places are closed. I had the Nutella Pancakes and Eggs Benedict, both were perfect and the plates were warm, and they came out right away. Coffee was solid, they used half and half and whole milk options because we all know those oil based creamers are bad for your health. The dining tables are super nice, maybe quartz top. Classy. The bathrooms are the cleanest diner bathrooms I have ever experienced. I am not worthy to go here. Also, I can add my daughter goes here with her friends frequently and highly recommended it. I eat lunch here about five times a week. The food is always good and fresh cooked. I estimate about fifty percent of customers are regulars, who eat here frequently. The staff, both servers and bussers are very friendly and efficient. There is always adequate parking available. They don't nickle dime customers with sharing charges, or egg price updates. They daily post specials, which include soup or salad, entree, beverage and desert which is a major bargain. Spouse and I are seniors and sometimes linger to get out of our house. I came to apollo diner right after I dropped my son to school. I was greeted immediately, and seated almost immediately. The waiter was very nice and kind, gave me time to look over the menu and I did not feel rushed. The place was clean, the utensils were clean, and it was nice and bright in the dining area. Once I placed my order, I was constantly checked on and asked if I wanted a refill on my coffee, I got corn beef and eggs, with home fries. It came with toast and coffee. Everything was delicious. Very disappointed! Ordered a few burgers, one of which was a deluxe. In past times they would serve it with Cole slaw and a pickle, not this time. The chicken wings were beyond bad. It was as if they fried them on reused oil. No celery, carrots or blue cheese which wings are usually served with. The strawberry milk was made with strawberry syrup. I would've appreciate it if the waiter said that's what they had. I thought I was getting strawberry quick. The service was meh. Regardless of your affiliation they shouldn't drop comments and DEliveries are dropping food on the back driveway area where there's dirt, dust e.t.c. the fruits/ vegetables were literally dropped on the ground. However I recently ate there and was really disappointed for lunch. There were flies in the booth I was seated in. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger - medium and it came out well done and nearly inedible. The bacon was chewy, not crispy. Even the soda tasted flat. The fries tasted frozen.
