Tried this place on a whim a few years ago and am sooooo glad I did! Great food, decent prices and I'm so happy they brought back the all you can eat salad bar. I usually eat myself stupid at the salad bar! The variety on their menu ensures you can always find something you're craving! The restaurant is always clean, all of the staff is very attentive and if something is wrong (which is rare), it is taken care of with immediately. Great food and great atmosphere. I was disappointed when we were served a drink that we didn't order and then were charged for it even after bringing it to our servers attention. Being a former waitress, when I made mistakes like that, I would apologize and not charge the customer for something they didn't order. We were there Tuesday, June 29th - reservation for 6:30 - we did not get our food until 8pm and we got served in intervals not food at one time! We were a party of 5 and two other tables got their food WAY BEFORE we did and one was sat same time and the other after???? The appetizers did not even come out together and it seems like the server forgot one and he had to come back after we ordered to make sure my friend ordered an appetizer?? We had a pasta dish, 2 fish, tacos and 1/2 slab ribs -- The perch was AWFUL!! NO FLAVOR, THE BAKED POT WAS BROWN AND THE BROCOLLI HAD NO TASTE!! The plates burning hot, food not hot - seems like the food was sitting in the window too long. The manager came over and apologized and took it off the bill, but no discount for the next time?? or let the manager know on your next visit if you need some extra care, etc... The server was not very concerned and seemed very aloof about the whole evening??? Maybe the server should not be in that restaurant business!! Our bill was $109.00 and I left him a $20 tip which he took without even a THANK YOU OR HAVE A NICE EVENING OR SORRY FOR THE SERVICE AND FOOD NOT BEING UP TO OUR STANDARDS! Made an online order and said it would be ready at 6:11, got a call from the restaurant that it's busy and order won't be ready until 7... I said that's fine... 7 pm I pull up call the restaurant for curbside, the girl on the phone said she'll check on my order and bring it to my car... 30 minutes later I called back to the restaurant and they forgot all about me.. now my food is cold on top of everything wasn't in my bag.. missing food, being forgotten about.. not great! Went there the first time on 7/30/23. Seated very fast, that was nice. Waitress took our order quickly. I had prime rib, my husband had perch. Food was brought in good time and we never saw our waitress again. No drink refills, no follow up on if we needed anything. Noticed every one around us getting rolls, we never got any. When my husband and I exchanged ideas on the food we both said the same thing. Tasteless. No flavor of any kind. Needless to say, we were very disappointed. $72.00 bill for Tasteless food and no service. Too bad, we were expecting so much more. read more

Ordered carryout recently and was pretty disappointed. I ordered the penne ala vodka but subbed marinara sauce. I assumed it would have still come with the spinach but it was literally penne and marinara. It was basically half a box of store bought pasta with a sub-average store bought marinara sauce, or at least that's what it tasted like. The Buffalo cauliflower was the only highlight of our order. Not sure I would try this place again given the lack of veg options and abundance of better restaurants in the area. read more

Visited for the second time last night, first time lunch, this time, a pre birthday dinner with my bride! I ordered the shaved prime rib sandwich, my wife ordered the fish and chips. Waitress must have been relatively new, didn't know the fish and chips came with "chips" and coke slaw, and actually entered my order as the prime rib dinner, but corrected it for the order. Nice ambience, busy bar side, worth visiting again! I should mention both meals were served hot, which I like, so that is worth a special mention, as so many restaurants end up serving hot prepared food lukewarm! I came in for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The service is super friendly and welcoming, even though I was only a table of one. This restaurant is a dream come true. The menu is extremely extensive; anyone could find something they like on this thing. I had the Friday special lunch buffet: backyard BBQ. Fantastic, fall-off-the-bone ribs, chicken wings, on-point mac 'n cheese, squash, and rib quesadillas. Plus the salad bar is everything you could ever ask for and more. Not horrible, not great. I've been here a few times since it changed over from Smokey's several years back. The food is decent, but not much better than what you might get at TGIFriday's or Chili's - and about as expensive if not more. Food is mediocre. The mac and cheese needs major help. The sauce is pretty thin and salty. Service is mediocre. I don't have anything really bad to say about the service, but I don't have anything great to say about it either. Location is good. Service was terrible. All the rest of the waitstaff seemed to be in high spirits but this one in particular was very off putting. Most instances this wouldn't be a big deal but the fact that it took 1.5 hours to make a "gourmet burger with fries" really set me off on the edge. Also wouldn't recommend sitting close to the door in their outdoor patio. If I wanted to freeze my butt off I would've set up camp outside. Food 7/10 will be back! read more

Just had what can only be described as the most amazing wedding shower catered exclusively by Major Biddle's. The mimosa bar was incredible, the breakfast buffet delicious, the omelette station with Alfredo the chef custom making every single omelette on demand was so tasty and fun and the muffins and danishes were to die for. To. Die. For. But all of that almost pales in comparison to the incredible service provided by Christine. She came in with a vision and turned the space into a beautiful flow for our guests. Not once did I have to worry or check on anything or ask for anything. It was all provided and handled so beautifully that I almost felt guilty at how little I had to do myself. I can't say enough about how incredibly happy I am with Major Biddle's and that I will most definitely look to them for any catering needs. And obviously for a heck of a good meal! read more

Major Biddles is beautifully remodeled. They have very versatile bar and dinner menus. They also have amazing homemade desserts. You want a good salad bar (like Ruby Tuesday's used to offer) then this is your place. Love what the did to the place. I had filet mignon and it was very yummy.. Don't salt it before trying it. It had a garlic butter sauce that was yummy and salty.. French onion soup was great, my side of mash and gravy was just ok.. Would of been much better with a wine sauce gravy instead of the boring brown gravy. My husband had fried shrimp. Went to this place trying to venture out to new places. It used to be called Smokey's and was a place I went to once for a rehearsal dinner. Food was decent, large portions. I had the swordfish and the tomato toppings had excellent flavor and my sides were great too. Hubby had the black bean burger which seemed to be just a microwaved store bought patty. Fried cauliflower was excellent. Smokin old fashion as well. Major Biddles - Group luncheon - American Near Me - Wyandotte, Michigan

This restaurant needs to decide what it wants to be. The menu is far too large & as a result, everyone suffers, from staff to diners. We(myself, spouse, & a friend) arrived at prime dining time, Sat. 6:00 PM, it was very busy. We were told by the obviously young & inexperienced hostess that the wait would be a reasonable 20 min. After about 45 min in the loud, tiny waiting area & several trips outside to get a break from the noise, our friend bailed to the one empty bar seat to get a drink. We were seated shortly after 7:00. After about 15 minutes in the equally loud dining room, at the back table, next to the inexplicably-placed "salad bar," a nice woman arrived to tell us that our server would be with us shortly. No water, no silver, no inquiry as to whether we would like a drink, although, on our way to the table, Previously Uninterested Hostess made a point of making sure that our friend had paid for the drink she'd gotten for herself. Ten minutes after that, the nice woman came back; the assigned server was "too busy," so she would take care of us. She was, BTW, very nice. She did a good job, double-checked our order before placing it, was very personable, etc. Did I mention that it was extremely loud? She had to keep walking back & forth as each of us spoke, as she could not hear people who were seated across the table from each other. We could barely hear each other. There's not a soft surface anywhere in this place; it's apparent that acoustics were not given consideration in the design. The menu. What can I say? They offer everything from two dozen appetizers, soups & salads, steaks, pasta, "BBQ," rice bowls, burgers, sandwiches, about a dozen sides, etc. In addition to the double-sided "regular" menu, there's a separate two-page beer menu, a large wine/cocktail menu, a dessert menu,a menu of specials, and the aforementioned salad bar, which is conveniently just slid in amongst the tables. For 3 people, we had about 12 pieces of paper and a couple leather-bound lists. Too. Much. This is important because... We finally managed to get drinks & order food. Our first choice for an appetizer was sold out so we ordered another, Southwest egg rolls. They arrived about a half hour later, & this is where things go downhill fast. I didn't eat them, but hubs & friend said they were good. We each ordered a cup of French onion soup, & hubs a salad. He ordered the Porterhouse, med-rare. I ordered the petite NY strip, also med-rare. Friend ordered rib combo. After the egg rolls & our drinks, & our water were gone, we waited. A long time. As a young man brought our entrees (Wait! No soup! No salad!), our server arrived, brought us water, asked about drinks (yes, please), & was as stunned as we that the entrees arrived before the other courses. It was obvious, not just from our table,that the kitchen was struggling. This is what happens when you try to do too many things: You don't do any of them really well. Most of the food was good. My steak was cooked correctly, green beans nice and green and crisp. I told the server to just skip the soup as I knew I'd never eat it *after* eating a steak & sides. She brought it anyway, though she did take it off the bill. I tried it, just to taste, was just "okay." Could have used a minute under the broiler, but as I said, the kitchen was obviously deep in the weeds. Friend's meal was okay as well, but those ribs, well, maybe it would be best just to leave that to folks who *do* BBQ. They seemed to have been either boiled before being waved over a smoker, or cooked earlier & stored/reheated. Hubby's steak, ordered medium rare, was seared on the outside but raw, and I mean, blue, inside. He ate what he could and we took the rest home for our German Shepherd, who really likes raw meat, so she says, "Thank you." We did order some dessert, which was good. Having arrived at 6:00, we left at 9:30. An hour or so of waiting to be seated, not horrendous for a weekend night, but I wouldn't do it a second time & it's not any place I'd think of far enough in advance to make a reservation. All in all, other than the steak, nothing was really bad or wrong, but I wasn't overly impressed, either. Service suffered because of a bloated menu and overwhelmed kitchen. General organization/supervision seems to be lacking. My advice would be to decide what few things you want to do, and do them well. Stop trying to do everything. The potential is there for delicious food, not "just okay" food. Cut the menu in half, then cut it in half again. Then take half of that, and make those items rotating or seasonal specials. Get that salad bar out of there (sitting right next to it for 2.5 hours, I saw exactly no one fill a plate, which means a LOT of food waste & money down the drain), hire someone to supervise the dining area to make sure guests are being tended to in a timely fashion, and maybe invest in some acoustic tiles. read more

Before you start reading this, please know that I do not enjoy leaving reviews like this and if I come across as angry, I am. If I could give this place 0 stars I would because one star seems to generous for the utter lack of attention to detail here. I Came here earlier this evening with 2 others in my family. One with a gluten allergy. We were told it would be ok, that every precaution is being taken. We talked with the owner, the waitress, and they confirmed with the cook that everything would be ok. They seemed to be taking everything seriously so we ate. What they failed to mention is that the Brussels sprouts are deep fried with the same food that is breaded. Cross contamination. 2 1/2 years I worked at McDoanlds and I have watched I have watched 15-16 year olds remember how cross contamination of certain foods are and that it can happen in deep fryers. On our way out we asked the owner the same question we asked our waitress and she said no the Brussels sprouts were deep fried and said next time tell them to sauté them. That's not our job to say that if the OWNER knew what was ordered, was involved in the ordering process, and knew off the back of her hand how the food was cooked and prepared, why wasn't that brought up??? I would say this is a one time mistake but it wasn't. 3/5 times we have came here something has been wrong. Now, we come back after learning the staff and making sure the staff knew about the allergy and yet a chef can't catch simple cross contamination? $33 meal and it was thrown up less than 15min later. Absolutely ridiculous. If you have an allergy, for your safety please avoid coming here. For what it's worth, my food was good. however one person getting sick especially when it's family, is a quick way to screw up dinner. Will not be coming back. read more

We had dinner at Major Biddles for the first time this evening. The interior of the restaurant looks fabulous. I loved the entire look. The bread they bring to the table was amazing. The French onion soup was great. I ordered the Beef Tips with shrimp and it was absolutely delicious. The beef was tender and the shrimp had to be cut they were so large! I loved the zip sauce! I had the Prime Rib and Shrimp Combo with green beans and cheesy potatoes. Everything was good but the Prime Rib. It had too much fat on it and the skin was so tough you couldn't chew it or put a knife through it to cut. I ordered it medium rare. Wasn't sure about this place until I tried it, sorry I waited so long. Have been there three times and each time ordered something completely different off of the menu. the menu is quite large. Each time they hit a home run. The one that surprised me the most was the Jambalaya. Very favorable with a little bit of heat, it was just perfect. Good selection of beers.
