For my first time here, it was quite interesting. I had no idea where to order, I thought it was at the counter when you first walk in but that was for order pick up. I was told by the guy who was at the pick up counter where to order. This is a cash only establishment so bring your bills. I got myself a catfish and shrimp combo with no fries. I heard that the catfish was the star and Ive had plenty of whiting that pretty much all are basic. So I wanted to try out their catfish. Now heres where it gets interesting. That same guy at the pick up counter offered me a sample tasting of both whiting, catfish and shrimp options when he realized it was my first time visiting. I wish I would have received that sample before I made my order because I would have passed on buying the shrimp. I think it was fried to perfection but somehow it had a sweet flavor that was off putting to me. I took it home for my daughter to enjoy. The catfish was extra meaty and delicious but the whiting was the real star. Boom Bam Pow! It was so fresh, so full of flavor and crunchy. Ive had plenty of store brought whiting before, but this took me back to my childhood, when I was a teenager and we would have fried fish Fridays and family and friends would come over to play cards and other games, hang out and eat fish and salad. What a nostalgic moment! I think the prices are quite pricey for some fish but what isn't these days. It was so worth it! They "can make my fish" anytime and that is exactly what I would return for. I wouldn't stay to eat here although they had a tabletop with some stools but it not a comfy environment. I wanna say thanks again to the guy who took the time to speak to me and give me the samples for the first time customers, although I don't know if I would have received it if I didn't look so confused and asked a bunch of questions lol. Overall really good experience and I would recommend. Thumbs up and Happy Yelping!

Looking for fresh fried seafood... this is it. Very fresh and crunchy even the next day it was even better after warming it up in the air fryer. The shrimp were nice and large in size. Big pieces of catfish and whiting the fries were really good as well. Tartar sauce was nice and chunky I highly recommend

Pro tip pour the hot sauce in the tartar for maximum flavor.Ask for the wheat bread to make a fish sandwich later.

Harlem local gem!! Perfectly seasoned and fried seafood. Shrimp more savory than salted but delicious. No buttermilk. Owner was nice and gave use a sample tray. He has roots in the south My friends and I proceeded to order 2 whiting sandwiches and a shrimp and fries basket. Fries could use some salt and/or any kind of seasoning. I swear it's about 6 filets on the sandwiches. Definitely recommend and would go back. But only to this location. No bathroom, cash only, and limited space to sit and eat.

It's local, it's a whole in the wall and we like it just fine. I got the fried fish and M&C - Fish has great flavor, not greasy, and not overly battered. Emphasis on not overly battered because that is a thing at some places. I don't wanna feel guilty eating fish. Great portion size (please keep the portion size the same) and it re-heats well. Next day with some grits, perfect! - M&C gives a homemade feel, it's good and simple. I had to hold off on one start because the 3 times that I've been there's a disturbing smell. I'm thinking it's the floor mats in the waiting space. I'm hoping this will get checked. The staff is cool, familiar family vibe, straight to the point running their business and it's all good. I'll return again and again.

Love, love, love the food here. Can not believe I have never given this place a try! The fried shrimp, mac & cheese are my favorite. The whiting fish, and their tartar sauce was great. Loved the prices, it was very busy, not a long wait. The atmosphere was lively and music rocking!

The absolute best fried fish this side of the Mississippi! We were on our way to Central Park and my friends asked if I wanted some fried fish and shrimp. I looooove seafood, I had no idea what I was in for. This place is the absolute best. I got the fish, shrimp and fries. He gave me hot sauce, tartar sauce and bread to go with it. This place reminds me of my childhood. I will always make it a point to eat here when I come to NY. The food was perfectly seasoned, with flavor in every bite. It was hot and it did not take a long time to get the food. My friend got the chicken wings, they were seasoned to perfection. I will absolutely be back. Like as soon as I land I will be heading to Make My Fish so they can make my fish!!! Looking forward to trying the sides next time.

Amazing food and extremely friendly customer service. Came for a trip with work and ordered the catfish with shrimp and a side of Mac and cheese and collard greens. The catfish and shrimp were fried to perfection, Mac and cheese cheesy and yummy and the collard greens had a great smoky taste. Also ordered an Arnold Palmer it was good but on the sweet side. As for the portion I had enough to eat for dinner left overs.

Easily the best cat fish I've ever eaten in New York. Savory to say the least. Seasoned to perfection. I'm not a catfish enthusiast at all but being able to compare this with the whiting were an excellent combination. The grits were made not too salty, as well as the candied yams that were in abundance. I had dinner for the night and was able to make two sandwiches for lunch and an early dinner the next day with the amount of portions I had! First time I visited and I will absolutely be back soon.

The wait wasn't long at all, even though it was crowded a sign of good food! The catfish was perfectly seasoned with a crisp golden coating and tender, flaky meat inside. The mac & cheese was rich, cheesy, and comforting, and the greens were seasoned just right. Portions were generous. I was pleasantly surprised. Classic Harlem spot with an old-school vibe. I'll definitely be back!

This is a takeout only place and service was prompt for me on a recent snowy Saturday afternoon. I ordered the $18 catfish and chips along with $22 eleven piece scallops. They were very generous with the fries accompanying the catfish. The fries were very good, not top flight, but very good. You can do far worse. The catfish was good, but there is competition in Harlem that puts this catfish in the rearview mirror. The batter is not as crisp and seasoned and the catfish fillet strips are a bit on the thin side. They give you about seven or eight strips, which is satisfying enough for $18, but you can do better in Harlem. The scallops were a bit more numerous that eleven pieces, probably around fourteen or fifteen pieces, but these need to be more numerous, given their teeny tiny size. You can spend $22 far more wisely here or anywhere in Harlem. They are tasty little fried scallops. If you have lemon and cocktail sauce with the radish at home, that would add to their impact considerably. However, nothing can make up for their diminutive size. Here, size matters. A Taste of Seafood offers good seafood and a clean environment with friendly service. I told them not to overcook the scallops and they did not overcook the scallops. So I give points for that discretion in the kitchen. 3.3 stars!

Sea and Sea is great, especially if you want to feed your family or a small group of friends. This…read moreis for all the seafood lovers and pescaterians. Tired of beef steaks, come get your fish steaks. The salmon looks great here. Everything looks great here. Walk in through the front doors and notice something? No fishy odor, just fresh fish. Let's cover the layout and ground rules. On your left, you have immediately the whole fish. Further back on your left, you have the fillets and steaks. All the usual suspects are here. All the way back on your left, you will find the various sized farm raised shrimp. Around that left corner, moving from left to right you will find the wild caught shrimp. In the middle at the back, is the register where you will eventually pay. Immediately below and in front of the register are the veggies: broccoli, carrots, corn, onions. To the right of the register in the back are the mussels, scallops, and clams. On the right as you walk in, there is one of the busiest counters with a guy steaming all your orders in a giant steamer behind the counter. Walk a little further toward the back on the right side is a guy who is busy frying fish and French fries, making fish sandwiches, and frying whatever whiting, catfish or shrimp you desire. Further back on your right toward the back is where you can obtain your crab legs and lobster. Given this was my first time, I am laying out the ground rules and procedures. Use the tongs everywhere to load your seafood in the steel bowls by the seafood on your left or in the middle of the store on a few tables. You take your bowl or bowls to the guy at the register in the back and pay for your items by weight and their various price rates. Most things are between $10-$20 per pound. Cash is King, but I believe they take Master and Visa, not American Express. Tell the guy how you want your seafood prepared: fried or steamed. He will slice your fillets and chop your corn, placing everything in a plastic basket if you want it steamed together or separately if you're going to fry certain things. He will give you a number for every basket and place the identical number in each basket for tracking. If you're frying, take that basket to the second station or counter on the right. If you're steaming, take your basket to the first station on your right as you enter. The guy at the steaming counter with liberally add the Old Bay, garlic and other seasonings to your seafood. If want low sodium, this is where you tell him to limit the salt. This is also in retrospect, when I would emphasize to the steaming guy not to overcook your seafood. Many of my people (African Americans) and from what I observe among the Latino community like everything cooked well: steaks medium well to well done, eggs scrambled hard, veggies cooked to death and seafood cooked well done. So this is the default expectation and the guy will steam to that degree. The cooking and steaming will continue on your way home, so I would in retrospect advise cutting the steam time by at least five minutes. Your shrimp will suffer the most from over steaming and this would likely apply to your lobster as well. Keep this is mind and let the guy at the steamer know you wish to limit the steam time. My overcooked shrimp is reflected in this rating, but there is more upside when I return. When the steaming is done or overdone, he will announce your number and bag your seafood. You can and should ask him to add laddles of melted butter to your bag of seafood. Tell him how many laddles of butter you want added to your bag(s). He will add more seasoning at this point as well if you ask him. He will twist the bag(s) closed and place them in a plastic container with rubber bands for the trip home. It's all so very delicious and I will return. Two fillets of catfish, two fillets of cod, about a dozen Tiger shrimp and at least a dozen large scallops with the veggies came to $71. I find this quite reasonable and it tastes so good. If you want your shrimp deveined, they have the ones with the shells taken off and deveined. Go home, crack a beer and devour! 3.8 stars!
