We've been to M&F a few times since they opened and we really enjoy it. Unfortunately due to the hours, it isn't a good breakfast option for us but we like mid-day coffee breaks and lunch. The empanadas are fantastic. The staff at M&F is what sets them apart, very personable and attentive staff that genuinely seems to want to be there. Joking, smiling and having a playful attitude with the customers while still being very professional is something that is rare - a huge shout out to you Veronica! The only thing I'd change is earlier hours so we might be able to consider makers for breakfast. read more

Second time visiting this location, second poor experience. First time was shortly after they opened so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I get it, I work in hospitality and openings are tough. Today I ordered three empanadas to-go and waited in the restaurant. 30 minutes go by and I still don't have my food. I asked the barista to check and see how long ago my order was put in and her response was sometimes "they take a little bit of time". I insisted that she go check. Manager comes over and says sorry we got a massive to go order right before your order was placed. That's not a me problem. I understand that things like this can happen, but the lack of awareness and hospitality has left a bad taste in my mouth. Will not be patronizing this location again. The restaurant is in a great location for me and Mt family, and the aesthetic was so cute, but the food was not as expected. The service was great, we even had the manager check on us and our waitress was nice, it just seemed like she didn't know the menu. My husband ordered a burrito and she asked what meat he wanted but only listed 2 options and neither were on the menu. I ordered a skillet, expecting it to be layered or mixed up and it was just 3 peices of bacon, roasted potatoes and eggs on a skillet plate. The weird thing was that none of the food had flavor, and 50$ for two people breakfasts was a little high for what it was. I wish I had a better experience with the food to try it again but I'm sad to say we won't be returning. read more

first time coming here and i got to say that i am going to remarry my wife again for bringing me here. the latin hash skillet i thought was small when they dropped it off at table but i am seriously full. it was a good amount. abby was our server and she provided good service even tho we didn't require much. the feel of the place is very nice, very comfortable and easy to relax and enjoy food and time with company. will be back soon. read more

Finally a Makers in Henderson. Coffee amazing. Mimosa flight with new flavors so pretty and tasty. My kiddos came along and the waffles did not disappoint really big my boys finished them at home. The service was great, friendly and nice. Ambiance was good, go early if you don't like crowds. Everyone is town knows of this place now so the wait can be a little long. My family & I considered this place one of our favorites...the last three times we have come here has been very disappointing. I don't know if it has new owners or under new management, but the service leaves a lot to be desired & the food, that was top notch, is no longer, in our opinion...such a bummer. Today, the server was running around completely overwhelmed...the manager (I'm guessing) came to our table asking who ordered the mushroom empanada, none of us ordered a mushroom empanada, he had the most miserable/annoyed look on his face! My husband ordered fries & they gave him fruit instead, when he told the server, she snatched up the little bowl of fruit so fast LOL. I had to ask 3 times for a refill on my drink & my empanada was mostly the shell. There are too many other empanada places to try to keep going back to this place & wishing we hadn't. read more

UPDATE: I posted my thoughts on my Instagram. They DM'd me back wanting to make it right with a round of drinks AND/OR free appetizer. We spent $70 for 2 people and the food was subpar anyways. The service left a bad taste in my mouth. I can live with bad food, but crap service could never be made up with a $6 coffee. I always wanted to try Makers & Finders, but the other locations were further away from me so I was excited that they opened one in Henderson closer to my side of town. When we walked in the hostess was very nice, we were able to sit right away because they had the bar top open. The server came to us right away to take our order. We specifically ordered a burrito with NO sour cream. I don't know if she heard us, but when the burrito came out there was sour cream in it as well as on the side. We asked her nicely if we could have them re-make it because we did ask for no sour cream. They were able to re-make it. However, sitting on the bar top meant sitting right in front of the line cooks. We can see them making the burrito and as they are grabbing things especially in front of us, they were slamming things making us feel uncomfortable. The other stuff we ordered was good and for the price we paid, I think the least we can do is to have our order correct when it's given to us. Lastly, service from our server. Not only did she put our order in wrong, she decided she was going to go on break before paying us out. Keep in mind the staff take breaks on the bar top which happened to be right next to us. She did not let us know she was going on break, if we knew we would have asked for our check. She sat there inattentive that we were literally sitting there waiting. We waited about 10 minutes before we asked a passing server if we could have someone bring our check. That server told our server and again no sense of urgency. We had to wait another 10 minutes for our server to be done with her break to get our check. I don't know if it's just this location, lack of good staff training, but I will not come and spend my money here again. read more

If I were rating on coffee alone it would be 5 stars, but unfortunately the food and table service drags this place down. We visited today for brunch and we were so disappointed about the entire experience. The service was VERY slow. It took over 40 minutes after arrival to receive our food. When the food did arrive, it was not great. I ordered the breakfast empanada skillet, the bacon looked as though it had gone bad and tasted worse than it looked. The eggs were very hard and flavor was also "off". The empanada shell was decent and was the only part I felt comfortable eating. Rice and beans were flavorless. My husband ordered a chicken arepa which was okay on flavor, but was a stack, not an arepa. We will probably be back to grab a coffee on the go, but won't be dining here again. read more

I walked in and the first thing the hostess said, can I help you? And I replied can I eat. I did notice with the other guest the hostess with the oversized combat boots welcome them in. I had the special pumpkin spice french toast. It was ok. I really couldn't taste the pumpkin. The place is very nice the tables are black so you really could see all the dust. I probably will not return which is a bummer because it is down the street. First time on a Sunday morning, sat without a wait at 9:10am, 10 min wait to order and by 10am still no food. We took our food to go, as we had places to go, received our food at 10:10. Today we gave it another shot in the afternoon. Party of 6, sat us promptly everything else was down hill. 10 min wait to order with the front server. Appetizers served and we had to eat with no silverware. No person ever came back by to check on us, so no opportunity to ask. Entrees arrived. It took 5 mins to serve 6 people's food, as the food came out 2 dishes at a time. At this point I asked for silverware. Food was decent, aspects of it better than others. Server dropped the check and said thank you with 4 empty plates in front of us and 2 plates half gone. We had to ask for the boxes, and then a few mins later someone came to start clearing the table. The kicker was 20% auto gratuity on parties of 5 or more. We saw the disclaimer from the beginning and that was fine, but the service was barely par for 15%. I went ahead and gave the 20%, but for piece of mind pointed out to the manager that if you're going to make someone pay 20%, ensure they are getting 20% worthy service. I did F&B for a long time, I have always had high standards that I have learned to drop down with today's world of servers, but this one felt like service that was tip guaranteed, so nothing extra was going to be done to ensure an excellent dining experience. Yummm! We are here for the first time. We decided to sit at the bar. Zack and a Taylor took extremely great care of us. They recommended the Empanadas Flight and Chilaquiles. We took them up on their recommendations and also had the Churro waffle. Everything was so flavorful and amazing! The waffle was fluffy on the inside yet crispy on the outside! So damn delicious! This was my first time in a makers & finders, overall it was pretty good. Being colombian myself, I thought it was really cool that they made their own version of Colombian dishes. The empanadas were really good! I wish the bandeja paisa had chorizo on it as they normally do. The beans were just okay as well. The chicharron was amazing!! I also had La paisa arepa, and while it was good it didn't really taste like a typical arepa. For dessert, we had the espresso flan which was delicious, however it felt like it was being drowned in the espresso. We have loved the Makers & Finders Arts District location for a while now and I was so excited to see them open up a location closer to us in Henderson! The lattes are amazing every time and the food is always awesome. I absolutely love the breakfast empanadas, so much so that I missed snapping a picture because I was too busy devouring them. They are crispy and delicious. I will say that I think it's a better bang for your buck to get the empanadas a la carte rather than in the skillet as the rice and beans are good but not necessarily worth the extra money. The sauce it comes with is excellent though. We also got the Maduros and they were insane and everyone at the table loved them. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious food and good vibes! read more

I ordered the dulce de leche French toast and to be honest, it was nothing like dulce de leche. The toast was gross and the matcha was chunky. The toast had a dulce whip on top but it tasted like nothing. Also, it took way too long to bring out two pieces of toast cut in half. The berries were sour and I could barely swallow it. We also ordered chiliquiles and the pork belly skillet, the serving was small and could feed my five year old. Both skillets were cold and the bottom of the food was also cold. How can you call something a skillet if it clearly wasn't cooked in a skillet. Ordered a side of fries and got a handful of fries for 6$, asked for ketchup and got the tiniest portion. The food was extremely disappointing for the price they were charging. The iced drinks were warm and chunky. And the 20% gratituity charge was ridiculous, my five year old literally only had fries and damn ketchup. Pancakes were not on the menu, even the kids menu. Never coming again. read more

You have to try the empanada flight because they didn't disappoint. The chipotle and chicken salads topped off our meal BUT... What happened with this location? I've been here before and had good service and good food, but this time was the exact opposite. Went for breakfast, and upon arriving only 3 tables of 2 each in the restaurant. So 3 tables and 1 waitress- We sat for over 10 minutes before the waitress even approached, brought water and took our coffee order. Then another 10 + before the coffee arrived and we placed our order. When the food came she dropped it off and never returned. My friends breakfast potatoes were cold upon arrival, but couldn't even get her attention and there were no more people arriving. Seemed as if she wasn't familiar with checking back with customers and just disappeared. When she finally returned we had finished breakfast about 10 minutes prior and she brought the check. He told her and she deducted $1.50 from the bill. No apology, just "I can bring you more", but we had long since finished eating. I had the "morning power skillet" and added sausage patties for $4 more. Glad I did as without them the breakfast would have been very minimal. Be aware the menu has a $ "add" for everything- you want toast add $3, you want sausage, add $4, you want jelly or jam - not served. read more

Ok, we've been here a few times. Mainly during the week and early. We thought this was going to be a cool new coffee shop/cafe......but.... This place is really just a Latin restaurant with a side counter and wait area for drinks. So.... Good first impression when you walk in, but overall a little cold once you're in. The seating is cramped in the main area which makes normal conversation a challenge. It's also a bit uncomfortable. We had very good service the times we went. But, The food was very expensive and just ok. We've tried several breakfast items, including the empanadas. The lattes are good. I don't care for their plain house coffee. Overall, we are disappointed. We were hoping this would be a weekly morning place since we live close by. We don't find the space that inviting and the price point just isn't worth it, especially for mediocre food. They also push cocktails which is fine for weekend brunch. They do have a happy hour, but they close at 5. Lol read more
