A different tech was dispatched and proceeded to tell us the thermostat was somehow to blame. That tech then ineptly rewired our compressor and told us the reversing valve was bad and that the overflow was because the whole AC unit was due for a $10k replacement. After a lot of frustration and worry, I decided to do my own work. I bought equipment to blow out the drain myself and sure enough, the first tech had managed to clog it, because once I did it myself, the system ran fine for the rest of the cooling season. Dry as a bone; not a single pan overflow. There was $10k saved. When it came time to switch to heat mode, the system wouldn't switch. Since I was told the reversing valve was bad, I thought that might be it. So I called a different company. Their tech took one look at the compressor and said "This is wired incorrectly, someone jumped your heat and ac lines together." The tech from a different company rewired it and the system entered heat mode with no issue. They say, don't attribute to malice that which can be attributed incompetence. So when one Atlantic Coastal tech clogs the drain line, then the second incorrectly rewires the compressor before telling me the whole system needs replacement... The nicest thing I can do is attribute it to incompetence.

It's really just an…read moreexcuse for them to make a sales call twice a year. 6 years ago, when they installed a new high-efficiency HVAC for the house, it took them days to get it working and 3 visits from the county to pass inspection. Subsequent Glenmont techs were confused by various aspects of the installation, to the point of making changes in an attempt to get it working properly. This past year, they determined the CO output level was too high and shut down the furnace completely during the coldest week of January. They said they'd get back to me that day. They did not return my calls for 6 days! Where was my "Comfort"? Must be the comfort of the owners that is mentioned in the name of the contract! The kicker? They could have just switched us over to electric heat for the week, but they took more joy in just letting us freeze. Sales calls were very hit-or-miss with the level of the technician assigned: -One tech told me I had the wrong thermostat for my system and wanted to sell me a new one. -One tech told me my blower motor was rusted out because the drip pan had backed up and was about to fail. I told him no and used it for another 6 years. -One tech disconnected the overflow pan sensor on my attic air conditioner, causing a flood that dripped out of the light fixtures in my foyer. However, the Service calls were consistent! They got more expensive every year! Regularly, the cheap starter capacitors on the outside heat pumps would blow on very hot days. Glenmont would come out and replace them with another $45 capacitor and charge between $172, and $452 (this past cooling season).

Jary (who helped us when we first moved in) came out on Tuesday and said we had a leak somewhere since the closed-system unit was totally out of coolant. He came back Weds. to do the leak detection and found the leak, recommended a new coil. We had the new coil installed on Friday; this time it was Ricardo and team that did the work installing the coil. They did a great job and a couple hours later our house was back to normal temperature. Gabriel helped us with all the coordination and estimates and seeing if the part was still under warranty (it wasn't, but I didn't expect it would be honestly.) No one likes spending a bunch of money on repairs but I'm very confident that the recommendations Jary made were sound and correct. He did not attempt to upsell me at all, which is greatly appreciated. (The estimates Gabriel sent did include options for replacing the unit, but that wasn't necessary at this time and there was no pressure to do so.) I will continue to call them if we have issues in future with our HVAC system.

My problem simple and complex but didn't require a visit, I just needed to ask a question to rule something out but they couldn't be bothered and were quite rue about it the next day. I'm not surprised - it's sort the way of the (non) service industry today and especially in this area with its incredible wealth and overpopulated area - there's always more customers so there is not much effort to keep customers or even treat very long term customers with respect. In any case, I'm loyal but when I'm mistreated m, I'll shift my loyalty. I know D&D doesn't care. I unfortunately have a contract for another with them but I'll be calling others as my AC unit is quite and I know it needs to be replaced in next few years and I need a reliable HVAC company.
