Don't come here expecting white gloved service and high end cocktails. This amazing, local, and dark watering hole is perfect for a few (to many) pints, mixed drinks and solid pub food with great fries. Yes, it's a very lived in bar but it's one of my favorites. I love everyone who works here especially the Irish guy who fills in from time to time. They have outdoor seating when the weather permits and a bunch of tables indoors. They just built an addition in the back that can host events and is used for extra seating. Great place to come before heading to see any shows.

Malachy's is a straight forward, no frills, Irish Pub. It's an affordable drink option if you want a beer and just to watch a game on the UWS. The food is also surprisingly good. They offer solid sandwiches and burgers and a variety of your standard beers. They also have white claw if you're into that. But there a couple of things that you will not get at Malachy's: - great lighting ( it's dark in here all times of the day. ) -speedy service ( it's run by great but older folk. And they're working hard but they are very slow and trying to manage the whole bar and the tables means they might take a while to get to you) In short, Malachy's is not the place you bring your parents when they come into town. It's the place where NYers go for cheap drink and a good time when they want a night out and some snacks.

What a great time in Manhattan again for Tom Jones at the Beacon. Got in a bit early so headed off to Malachy's for a couple of drinks. It's been years since we've been here and the place looks amazing. The remodel a fantastic hit with several large screen TV's and a really nice vibe. As always the people in the bar are nice and we had a few friendly conversations with some of the patrons. This is a very warm and welcoming bar where you don't have to worry about the usual Manhattan stuck up crowd. Theresa was behind the bar and she is a charming and funny bartendress. It was hard to tear ourselves away to head out for the show because we were having so much fun at the bar. We didn't eat this time, but I know the food is good and at great prices for this area, you can't go wrong at Malachy's. I can't wait to return during the day when Billy is at the Bar - he is the best in NYC.

Ask the Community - Malachy's Irish Pub

Until what time is the kitchen open, specifically on Friday nights?

On Thursday it closes before 11 PM. Pretty lame- not sure about other nights, sorry!

The "Perfect" Pint is apparently a far cry from reality…read more Our server, Ruffino, seemed perfectly cordial at first, but that changed rather quickly when we discovered a 20% automatic gratuity added to our bill without any prior notice. We didn't find out about this little surprise until the check was placed on our table. Nothing like discovering an extra charge at the end of your meal that apparently everyone was supposed to know about except the customers. We went downstairs to the host stand and asked to speak with a manager. We were informed that there was no manager on duty--apparently, just a staff of bartenders. When we questioned the automatic gratuity, we were told that all orders over $100 automatically receive a 20% gratuity. There was just one small problem: we had never been informed of this policy, nor did we see it posted anywhere. We politely asked for the charge to be removed since it had not been disclosed to us. We were told there was "nothing that could be done." Naturally, we then went back to Ruffino and asked to speak with his boss. We were promptly brought the exact same person we had already spoken with downstairs--who then proceeded to tell Ruffino to remove the gratuity. So apparently, there was something that could be done. Good to know. Unfortunately, the situation then went from questionable customer service to outright disrespect. During the interaction, our experience working in the food service industry was insulted, and we were told, and I quote: "I feel bad for whatever establishment you worked for because I know it was S**T. Get the F**K out and never return." Classy. For the record, there were only four people in our party. The establishment's own gratuity guidelines state that a 20% automatic gratuity applies to parties of six or more, not four. So let's recap: * A 20% gratuity was added without being disclosed. * We were told it applied because our order exceeded $100. * We were unable to find this policy posted anywhere. * We were initially told nothing could be done about the charge. * Someone subsequently instructed Ruffino to remove it, proving that something could, in fact, be done. * And when we questioned the situation, we were insulted and told to leave and never come back. Honestly, the last part was the easiest request to accommodate. If "Perfect" is supposed to describe the customer experience here, I'd hate to see what happens at an establishment that's merely average. As for the request to "never return"--don't worry. We won't. Some establishments manage to make that decision remarkably easy for you.

Service from the bartender was great. I ordered the fish and chips and a Bloody Mary. Everything was great up till then. Unfortunately, the food was a disappointment. Maybe it was a deep fat fryer thing, but I respectfully suggest the cook be given a little additional training. The fish batter was hard on the outside, and the fish was completely mushy on the inside. Like, gray mush. The fries were lukewarm. The mushy peas and the tartar sauce were served in little covered plastic disposable containers. I'm not a fan of that, but I get it is convenient. I truly wanted to like this place, and except for my one experience with the food, I would certainly return. People were having fun, and I did as well. I believe if they become a little more attentive in the kitchen, this place is a five star pub.

Apparently this beer is not as common in New York, but there were a couple Irish pubs that still sold them on draft and luckily there was one nearby my hotel. Very cool place! It's easy to miss walking by but once inside there's a bar on the main floor, restaurants in the next floor and a rooftop bar several stories up. The rooftop bar is a huge open atmosphere and once seated you have about 40 beers on tap to select from. The staff is incredibly friendly as well and knew exactly what I was looking for. I even had to flail my arms just to get the tab and I can tell that it's their routine to ignore a certain demographic. I was only here because my friend had to meet up with my work colleagues so I thought I would grab a seat at the bar and enjoy a quick burger before heading out for birthday festivities.
