I am utterly disappointed with the service we received at this day spa during what was supposed to be a relaxing mother-daughter spa day. Frankly, I wish I had checked Yelp or Google reviews before even considering this establishment. Upon arrival, I couldn't help but notice the lackluster appearance of the facility. It seemed more like a hastily put together nail salon with a vague spa theme rather than a serene oasis. However, I decided to proceed because of the glowing remarks from a few customers who raved about their massages while we were waiting. Our massages were decent, I'll give them that. The therapist attending to me was attentive to my preferences regarding pressure, although the constantly shifting headrest and the unfortunate instances of my lips touching metal detracted from the experience. The real disappointment came with the facial. Not only was it subpar, but the products used felt like they were straight out of a deep fryer - oily and heavy. To make matters worse, both my daughter and I ended up breaking out afterward. For the hefty sum of $380 plus tip, I expected far better quality. Despite the lackluster facial, I tried to salvage the experience as quality time with my daughter. However, any semblance of enjoyment was shattered when the massage therapist had the audacity to show entitlement over the tip. When I suggested splitting the tip between her and the other lady, she had the nerve to claim she deserved more because she supposedly worked harder. The sheer arrogance in her tone and the dismissive "That's ok" that followed left me speechless and utterly disheartened. Needless to say, I will never set foot in that establishment again, nor will I recommend it to anyone seeking a genuinely enjoyable spa experience. I'm so so sorry I went in. A few years ago, I had a great experience. The girl who gave me a massage then was awesome. I was a little reluctant to go back because everyone in Coronado says that Jean, the owner, gives out happy ending massages. I heard she was dating some rich guy then when he lost all his money, she left him flat broke and ran off with another rich guy. I heard another rumor that she beat up her roommate in front of her roommate's son, and the police took her away. Coronado is a small town, and we all know each other. Are the rumors true? I'll get to that in a minute... One of my friends (not from Coronado) gave me a gift card to get a massage. I thought, ok, I'll go back to that girl from before. Sure enough, Jean is at the front desk area. I asked her for someone else. She said, no one else was available, and that's she's a very good masseuse. She said she had magic hands. There is no way that she was going to touch me. So, I told her that I didn't feel comfortable with her. She started rubbing my shoulders as if trying to prove that she was a good masseuse. I asked her to stop, and that's when she got mad. She started yelling at me. "Do you want massage or what?" She yelled that I was wasting her time and taking money away from her. I have never had such a rude person come at me like this. I was a customer for crying out loud. You don't yell at your customers! I yelled back, "I don't want a massage from a whore." That's when I walked out. Save your time and energy and don't go to this place. After this experience, I completely believe all of the rumors. I'm so sad that such a place exists in our small town. Horrible. Worst experience ever!!!! When I got there, Jean (I think she's the owner) was busy yelling at people and eating her food. She was eating with her mouth open and yelling. It was absolutely disgusting! ... I wonder if the Health Department knows about this? .. She told me to go to the room, but I was pretty grossed out at that point. I didn't want to do the massage anymore. I tried to be nice and told her that I could reschedule since I knew she was busy. Then she started yelling at me, "No. I do you now!" I couldn't believe she was yelling at a customer! I told her that I had a Groupon, and I shouldn't be forced do a massage when I'm grossed out by her lack of respect to her employees and eating with her mouth open. When Jean heard I had a Groupon, she said she would not honor it anymore. I walked out trembling. She was so rude. It was a complete waste of money and time. There wasn't any parking on 1st. So, I had to pay for parking at the Ferry Landing. Not to mention the drive to Coronado. I seriously don't know how this person could be in business. What an awful experience!! read more

I've been coming here for a few months now and each time I leave, I feel rejuvenated. Working 70-80 hours a week puts a toll on your body and mind, but every month when I step into Malahini Day Spa I feel like my body's odometer is being turned back. I have had multiple masseuses and though every one has their own style and strengths, none of them have weaknesses. I have literally left each massage session feeling absolutely revived no matter who worked on me that day. Professional, wondrous hands of healing. Come at least 15 minutes before you appointment as you may have to make the rounds to find a parking spot, but it's totally worth it. The environment is serene and the staff is so personable. I'm super stoked to have a found a place with flexible scheduling and multiple well-trained masseuses. read more

I wish i could add more stars. This place was my first stop after a long crowded flight. As soon as I dropped my luggage off at the hotel, I was off to Malahini. I was so stressed, I didn't even consider that I may need an appointment. I arrived, and they fit me in. My relaxation started from the moment i walked in to the door. It was quite, clean, calm, and the lady behind the desk was nice and determined to find a way to get me in that day. The massage i received was actually one of the best iv'e had in years, and was actually a lot cheaper than what I was expecting to pay. This lace is very nice, reasonably priced, and customer friendly. I will definitely return next time I am in California. read more

Brand new day-spa on Coronado! I went there 11/2/09 for a 90-minute deep-tissue massage, and can happily recommend it to everyone in the area. Comfy bed, very reasonable prices, great masseuse (much like Beverly Hot Springs's massages in L.A. if you've been there), small quiet rooms. If you prefer a certain type of music/nature cd, let them know; most of my massage was accompanied by Japanese easy-listening pop, which made me giggle (imagining it was playing in the PanAm terminal in 1960's Honolulu), but might not be to some people's taste. Great experience! The knots in my left shoulder and back are gone. The aches in the lower parts of my arms from many hours of computer use...gone! Shins and calf muscles...relaxed. Lower back tension...gone. I slept 10 hours the night of the massage and woke up with more energy than usual. Jean was excellent!! Her ability to work the muscle tissue...what did she say...her hands and mind were communicating with my body to resolve the stress..something like that. this is a good place for vacationer. i usually come here to visit my family in Coronado couple times a year. this is a must stop! always get the deep tissue massage,reasonable prices. jean never disappointed me. very relaxing, and feel brand new every time after the massage... jean knew exactly what she is doing. other staffs are very friendly... i don't know why there are many bad reviews about this spa... but trust me. you need to try this out... this is the best I've ever had in CA! Both Jean and Briana have given me a massage and they are both awesome. I really enjoy walking around the ferry landing before and afterwards. And one time, my husband and I got a couples massage and then went to Candelas for an appetizer, a drink and a relaxing view of the bay afterwards. What a life! I now have a membership there which gives me a $1 per minute massage and am enjoying the 90 minute massages :). I feel so spoiled. Enjoy! read more

I find Jean and her staff to be very professional and attentive. I live in east county so it is a bit of a drive for me, but I find it to be well worth the trip. I recommend this spa to everyone. This review if for Jean - a truly amazing therapist! Whilst on holiday in teh states I had 4 massages with Jean. I had a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders as a result of an intense job in London - in just 4 treatments it was sooo much better. The owner, Jean, has a terrible reputation on Coronado for not honoring Groupons and yelling at her employees in front of customers. I once walked in and she was eating in front of me, slurping her food. It was disgusting, and she said she would take me right away??!! No, thank you! I never went back. Just had a massage few days ago, it was a great experience. this was my first time here, the staffs of the front desk were very friendly. Deep tissue massage by Jean relieved my tight muscles and the hot towels before massaging very nice hot tub and relaxing music.. i would recommend this place to my friends, and will come back when i have the chance. read more
