Delicious food and fast service! Personally can't stop eating the Chicken Pad Thai, I get one to-go almost every week! The Vietnamese Meatballs are awesome as well. I do sometimes feel that the portion sizes are smaller when you order to-go though, compared to when you dine in. read more

I don't generally write yelp reviews but I'm glad to make an exception in this case. The service here was one of the best I've seen. We were promptly seated in the table of our choice and given a complimentary dish to try out. The waiters were very friendly and made us feel very comfortable. The portions are generous. I ordered a small vegetarian soup but didn't like the taste too much. Upon hearing that our waitress asked if I'd like to have it replaced and I politely declined since I'd already finished half of it. Few minutes later the manager dropped by and offered to take it out and have anything else of our choice. Since there wasn't another vegetarian soup she offered us an entree of our choice - on the house (though it wasn't necessary at all)! We also loved the Thai iced tea here. I had the yellow curry but I'll probably try something else next time. Overall I recommend this restaurant for its exceptional service. Though the food wasn't to my liking I'd attribute it to my taste buds than the quality of the food. We'll probably be back to try something else. :-) read more

Love this place and love the food and location! It's seasoned well and very flavorful. Good mix of Thai and Vietnamese food. I suggest ordering mild food and getting the chili paste/sauce on the side unless you like it extremely hot. Great atmosphere also. Small restaurant, but you can make reservations. Maybe the worst interpretation of pho I have ever tasted. They should take it off the menu or go try a bowl some place else and rethink it because it is real bad and not even close. Holy Cow! This place is phenomenal. Our server Lilly was knowledgeable, passionate and genuine. The food was remarkable. We had the sampler as an appetizer and it's a perfect way to start. Not too much food but a flavor explosion. I had the brunch Thai Eggs Benedict and it was by far the most delicious I have ever tasted. Shrimp, curried Hollindaise, spinach, basil and a lite coconut biscuit. My husband had the Iron Pot Green Curry Chicken. Again, a flavor explosion and so fresh. All foods and sauces are made in house and bought locally. The green curry takes 4 hours to make and you can definitely taste the love. The cocktails are also extraordinary. I had the Thai Margarita that had fresh ginger and thai chilies and my husband had The Vang which is ginger beer and thai spiced rum with fresh mint, ginger and basil. Oh lord was it good. The service is on point and the atmosphere is welcoming and chill. We will become regulars for sure. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality and myriad of perfectly blended ingredients. A must! Who would ever think that a Thai Vietnamese would have brunch. My husband and I went here for dinner on. Tuesday night. The place was not very busy but good amount of diners for a Tuesday. The staff were very attentive and they refill drinks pretty fast. Husband had Panang Duck Breast -- duck was tender and flavorful, sauce was rich but not overbearing. There was too much sauce though but one can leave it behind, so no biggie. Lemongrass Chicken was really good -- thin slices of chicken, onions, scallions, long strips of carrots (looks like short noodles), light asian sauce infused with lemongrass flavor. Full of flavor and texture but very light. I can taste nuts but I can't see them. We ended our meal with Mango Stick Rice for dessert. We were so full before we ordered dessert so we decided to split --- ahh, heaven! Very creative take on Mango Sticky Rice. Layers of rice crispies, sticky rice and mango, poured with sweet warm oconut milk. Needless to say, we'll be coming back! read more

A Great Find! We found this restaurant in the West Village a year ago when we moved into the area. It is the best! The atmosphere inside has booths, tables and a couple of TVs. The outdoor patio is enclosed in the winter and open on nice days. The best of both worlds. The service is exactly what your looking for. Patty, is a manager who is delightful and oversees a very efficient, customer friendly and knowledgeable staff. June, our favorite server, knows every dish and has guided us through so many wonderful meals! We have brought many friends to Malai and they are all so impressed with the great food and wonderful selections of wines. My favorites were ruby trout and the Thai tacos ( pork medium spice) and my husband was a Drunken noodle and scallops with the best noodles I have ever eaten! When we did get a dessert it was a coconut cream pie that was heavenly and the banana pots of cream. Delicious .This is by far the best restaurant and it has a wonderful menu. Don't miss it! Malai is awesome! The decor is cool and vibey with super comfy booths, great music and a really cool bar! Our server was stellar and the wait staff worked together to make sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The Lemongrass Fizz that I ordered was fun, reasonably priced, and very tasty. Our entrees were delicious and the portions were very impressive for the price! For desert we had chocolate wontons with a plum jam, they were to die for. Really! Came for late lunch Shrimp pad Thai was good, had just 4 shrimp, lacked flavor. Chicken sate appetizer only had 3 small skewers and served with peanut sauce and salsa. Sea bass was good, wished it was poached instead of fried. Why salsa in an Asian restaurant? House made siracha was a hit. Very tangy. Not very clean. Just left Malai Kitchen. The service was horrible. One person took my drink order. I tracked down another person to place our food order. And then the sweet waitress training a new employee noticed our disgruntled looks and asked if we needed our checks. We also never received the complimentary sticky rice. While the food was good the service would deter us from coming back. Two stars are for the food and the one waitress that knew how to do her job. read more

Not really impressed. Some friends and I went for dinner last week and left with a feeling of why would we go back. The service was not great leaving my drink empty sometimes. My friend and I ordered the clay pot green curry based upon the waiter's recommendation and the fact we both loved green curry. It was sad to say it was the worst green curry I have ever had and the most expensive at $15. Just flavorless, boring and tons of lemongrass 'strings' in it. My other friend ordered a special they had of yellow curry and that was decent. Maybe I would go back for a drink on the patio and appetizer but really nothing special here and expensive. read more

I had dinner last Thursday evening. I have visited many other times with a good experience for both the service and food. However, this time I took a double hit and overall not good. The Chicken Satay and the sweet and sour crispy noodles were both cold. The service was extremely perfunctory, "drop and go", no check backs and we felt servers and manager type they could careless if we dining as their guests. No individual plates were served or offered with our appetizer. I had to ask for the sticky rice but none was brought. I would be very hard pressed to visit again. read more

Our valentines day dinner was amazing. We had the stake special. The crust on that thing was AWESOME. I don't think i've had such flavor and texture as I have had on that stake.
