Last Friday my husband and I were looking for somewhere to order dinner and I pleasantly remembered eating here a few months ago and decided to try them again, this time for take out. We ordered shrimp pad Thai and shrimp Penang curry. We paid $28 for the shrimp dish and there were 3 shrimp in the dish. The meal tasted fine but I'd never order from them again. I celebrated my birthday here with my friends this past July. We liked it so much, we want to eat here on Christmas Day, if they are open. I remember it was a delightful evening in a cozy atmosphere. This restaurant is small but mighty. The food is outstanding. It was somewhat difficult to communicate with the server and host. They did not speak much English, but we managed to muddle through it. As it turned out, we allowed our waiter to order some dishes for us that were absolutely outstanding. Since this was 5 months ago, I do not quite remember what we ate, but I can tell you that it was delicious. I suspect all of their food is great. This restaurant has a darling ambiance. Try it. Wow, this is a little hidden gem! Ambiance is so cute with awesome decor for a true Thai experience. We got the Kobe Tuna and the Pork Skewers (daily special) as appetizers, the tuna was one of the best I've had with a crispy tempura breading and lightly cooked outside layer of the fish. Pork was good with a peanut dipping sauce. One of the Daily specials was crispy duck pad Thai and it was fantastic! We were worried it might be over cooked by the look of the skin but it's was perfectly juicy with extra crispy skin, so unique and delicious. As usual I found this place in Yelp.it sits in commercial area but is very beautiful and welcoming. The outdoor seating area is just beautiful with string lights and potted plants. They've outdoor area too. We chose inside, for no apparent reason. We've tried the following three dishes: - spareribs: chewy, the sauce is good; the redness is normal - drunken noodles - I'd call it 干炒牛河 yummy - Laab Kai/chicken salad: good too. We asked for #2 spicy out of 5 levels, which is just right. Singha beer is so so. The house white which is Woodbridge Chardonnay, is decent. All the veggies are crispy and fresh. The wood carvings on the bathroom doors are similar to the pieces I just ordered from Amazon, in darker color. I am new to the area and stumbled upon Malakor Thai Cafe for lunch. Honestly, the food served there was undoubtedly the best, most high quality Thai food I have had in a few years, maybe ever. I am not even going to single out any one dish or dishes....they are all full of fresh ingredients and the servings are plentiful. The brown rice is just excellent....not plain brown rice, but a mixture of whole grains that was hearty and delicious. No skimping here that I can tell! Great find, kind of in the bad place of west Palm beach area. Found through Yelp and saw the reviews so went out of my comfort zone. Was surprised to have a side salad that had romaine lettuce opposed to your typical cheap iceberg lettuce. You have option of ginger or peanut dressing. Ordered the Zumba roll that has spicy tuna, avocado with a yummy cilantro sauce. Very good! Will def come back. We were in the area and couldn't find anywhere to eat. Just so happened to find this place on maps and came in. We were seated immediately and the outdoor area was so cute. Our waiter was absolutely phenomenal and attentive. He brought us extra unsweetened tea when we told him our Thai iced tea was too sweet for us. He also brought us a whole bunch of different spices when we told him we liked spicy food. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because I didn't love the food. We got spicy edamame, which had areas it was super salty and we couldn't get it to mix properly. We got the red curry, 2 sushi rolls, and a crying tiger salad. The steak on the crying tiger salad was so chewy and cut so thick i simply gave up on chewing it. Maybe if it was cut thinner it would've helped. I will say it was cooked very well. The red curry felt like it lacked a lot of curry flavor. It seemed to be more cream based (see picture). Staff was very friendly and suggested lot of items to try as we were first time to the restaurant. They also offered a mosquito repellent spray when we sat in the patio dining. Their patio dining ambiance is really good. Coming to the food, I tried malakar bomb roll it is crispy and spicy. Found this gem on a weekend visit to West Palm Beach. It's some of the best Thai I've had. They don't serve hard liquor but their sale based cocktails are really good. We had the Lychee Martini. We started off with the Crispy fried Purses. Perfectly fine with a pineapple sauce that really enhances sweet potatoes mixed with curry. For entrees we had the fried rice, green curry w/ chicken and Yami Soba with beef. All them were absolutely delicious. The chicken in the rice and curry was really tender. I ordered the Green curry mild and it still has a bit of a kick to it. The staff is so friendly and they take great care of you. The retainer itself has a super eclectic fun vibe. Servers are wearing masks (kitchen didn't appear to), and there's lots of outdoor seating for those wary of focus. We ordered a whole fish that was fried and expertly filleted with an amazing sweet and sour sauce that had asparagus, pineapple, onions and peppers in it. We also shared crab fried rice, which was huge and flavorful. Our party also ordered Chang mai noodles and the shrimp pad prik khing and chiang mai noodles. We were visiting from out of town looking for a good Thai place near Ocean Drive (Singer Island) and came across this quaint restaurant in what seemed to be a re-developing area serving up authentic and flavorful dishes. I came here on Valentine's Day with my honey and we had a marvelous time. Even though we did not have a reservation, they seated us at a nice table outside for two. Service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and brought out our drinks and food in a timely manner. We shared a appetizer, sushi entree, and hot entree. All of it was so fresh and delicious. I have not tried one thing I didn't like here. Truly a special spot. It was a busy night too as it was a holiday and there was a large party outside next to us. A five star rating!! What a great place to dine and enjoy a fantastic Thai meal! It was an experience as the atmosphere was as wonderful as the food and a fellow Yelper recommended! I met a friend for lunch on a Friday at 12:30 pm. Luckily i found street parking but was advised of an overflow grass parking area across the street. Indoor dining was filled and they do not accept reservations but we were escorted to a covered tiki area in the back. The front entrance was filled with flowers, statues and a fountain; the tiki area was just as nice , with lights, tropical deco and a waterfall! I'm glad we chose the covered outdoor seating as we stayed dry when the afternoon rain came down. There was additional uncovered seating. The wait staff were running to serve everyone as they were clearly understaffed . As we were still deciding, all the outdoor tables filled. We were served our iced green tea and ordered a summer roll appetizer cut into 6 pieces. It was so fresh and delicious and served with a peanut sauce on the side. We took a long time to order which was probably unfair to the staff; they kept coming back to help us as we were enjoying the atmosphere and each others company. I settled on Red Curry w Shrimp and brown rice. My friend a Ginger stir fry also w shrimp and brown rice. Both came w a house salad w peanut or ginger dressing. It rook a little while to finally get our meals but it was worth the wait! We sampled each others dishes and agreed this would be a new fav place!! My curry was so good..a little more spicy than usual so be sure to ask for a little less heat if you prefer. The brown rice was also incredible. Can I give this restaurant 6 stars?! Everything about this place was PERFECT! How do I begin... The ambiance - we got here early enough so there was ample seating outdoors, which was incredible, I truly felt like I was back in Phuket. From the waterfall in the background, to the giant goldfish tank, to the table and chairs, and fans going above us, along with the bamboo walls (and the lovely FL summer heat), I truly truly felt like I was in Thailand. We sat down and ordered a bottle of wine - pricing was incredibly reasonable. Food wise: Crispy money bags: delicious. The sauce they came with was outrageous. The vegetable filling was delightful - one bite of this crispy pouch and the filling just oozed out into my mouth. Yum Kobe tuna: I've never had anything like this. Lightly seared tuna with tempura flake on it. The outside of the tuna was very lightly cooked. Delicious. Malakor role: I would eat this everyday for the rest of my life if I could. It was tuna, salmon, yellow tail, scallion, cream cheese topped with loads of spicy crab and eel sauce along with fried papaya. The crunch with the crab and the eel sauce, OMG. Crispy duck: Perfectly cooked in a delicious sauce with vegetables. Great dish. Sea Scallop Garlic Delight: the scallops were huge. This was my least favorite entree but only because I'm not used to scallops done that way and honestly, I was just so full, I ended up eating one scallop and a veggie. Service was great. Very hospitable, knowledgeable of the menu. I'm obsessed! I will be back soon! Give this place a shot! When I pulled up I was impressed, the restaurant is nicely decorated & very quaint & cozy which is what the star is for because that was the only good thing about this experience. I received my food pretty quickly & it smelled good, however when I tasted everything I was thoroughly disappointed. After arriving for our reservation at another restaurant only to find out they were closed, we ended up at Malakor by complete accident. However, it was the BEST meal we had the entire vacation! We loved the vide when seated outside, the menu was expansive, and the service was super friendly. This was the first time at a Thai restaurant for one of my friends and now he is hooked!
