    Fried Tofu (so good)
    Gail B.

I went to an UYE here on 11/16/25, organized by Yelp Elite Andie. My favorite menu selections were the Sweet and Spicy Tofu, the PI-PA Duck and the Eggplant with Shredded Pork and Salted Fish. The Okra and Belachan Shrimp was a satisfying comfort food. My least favorite selection was the Satay Chicken with Peanut Sauce, the Beef Rendang and the Tom Yum (Seafood Curry Soup). The service was spectacular on a table that seated eight people. Our waitress frequently came to our table, delivering us food and drink. I was impressed when she provided us clean plates when we finished eating our first several menu selections. This restaurant is definitely a must for parties. I definitely recommend Malay Restaurant for duck lovers like me. It was the best duck that I have had all year. I will be back!

What a meal...actually it was a feast! From the tofu, to the delicious beef and oh the eggplant! So many dishes were had that were shared by such a fun group of people. Everything was as delicious as the next. This spot is small, very small, but don't let that discourage you from staying and dining here. We had so much food and it was only $30 a person. What a deal! Also, you can't beat the location. Steps away from Prince St. and all the hustle and bustle of Main St.

On 11/16 I attended a wonderful UYE family style diner with 8 other people at my table and about 8 more at another table. So this restaurant maybe small but it's big enough to cater groups. The staff was overly kind, at all times, serving our 2 tables and not letting other groups lack for anything. I was honored to sit with a fantastic group of VIP's and break bread. Here is the menu... -- Chicken Satay w.Peanut Sauce -- Beef Rendang -- Pi-Pa Duck (whole duck) -- Eggplant w.Shredded Pork & Salted Fish -- Okra & Belachan Shrimp -- Watercress w.Thai Sauce -- Seafood Curry Stew -- Rice I sampled every thing except the eggplant dish because I was stuffed. A Tofu dish replaced the watercress dish. Every item paired well and were very delicious for my palate. I can't say which dish was the best because every dish stood out and offered a distinctive taste. I did manage to accidentally bite into a pepper. It was HOT, HOT. HOT! Some people went casual and some dressed. However you come, group or not, just make sure you have enough space for all of the food. I can get use to hanging with friends trying different foods from different cultures. Inspire more, Yelp more.

This is a hole in the wall Malaysian place that has been here for decades. Upon entry you are faced with a small door way where you see the small fish and roti are made. You enter another door and see that the place looks worn down with very simple tables and seating. You are seated and they bring tea to the table. The place are usually known only by locals and can be busy during meal time. After taking few minutes we ordered the typical known Malaysian dishes. Highly recommended are the Hainanese chicken, squid with watercress in peanut sauce and the beef flank curry. Other dishes recommended are roti, satay, & taro basket which to my disappointment they did not have in this night. It took them a little bit of time and every dish arrived as it finished preparing. The flavor are deep, fragrant and varied. Definitely get chicken broth rice or coconut rice with the dishes. Everything was tasty but service is inconsistent throughout the night depending on whom you speak with. Yes to come back for the food not so much for service or decor.

Love this restaurant!! Unassuming restaurant that is surprisingly busy during certain hours--which makes sense considering the food is so yummy!! Nowadays, I find it hard to find many authentic, hole-in-the-wall Malaysian restaurants, considering there are not too many Malaysian restaurants around. Like other mom-and-pop Asian restaurants, you are not here for the service, but for the good food and great prices. Of note, some of the staff speak both Cantonese and English--brownie points if you can speak Cantonese while ordering. When I come here, I am always shocked at how delicious the food is, considering their prices are unbeatable in post-COVID times. We always order the same thing, and it hits every time. If you come here, you have to get the Malaysian Cheong Fun Curry Noodle Soup! The in-restaurant portion is huge, and the curry is this coconut creamy goodness that just warms the soul on a cold evening. You also can't beat their classic Nasi Lemak. Best I've had in the city for both dishes so far. Please come here and support their business! What we ordered: - Malaysian Cheong Fun Curry Noodle Soup - Nasi Lemak

Very authentic Malaysian food! Everything tastes so good. My favorites were the roti canai, chicken skewers, and the bian noodles. The staff are kind and they are usually not too busy. The interior is casual and there are lots of tables.

Sketchy area, delicious food. This spot is delicious. I've never tried Malaysian food before, but if it's all like this, then I will be adding much more to my diet. We started with some roti and curry. The roti was so fragrant and warm. Perfectly chewy. It paired perfectly with the curry they gave us. I could have drank the rest. We followed that up with a chicken rendang which was phenomenal. The chicken was packed with flavor. I just wanted more and more

Had an amazing time at Malay Restaurant it's been here all this time and it seems like I never saw it. My Yelp bestie Andie invited me she goes to all the good spots. It was so good and I even tried Duck for the first time. That might not be that big deal for other people but it's a big deal for me cuz I never ever wanted to try duck. But it was actually really good it actually tasted better than chicken . There was a beef dish that was really good. An ocra/shrimp I don't usually eat ocra because it's slimy but this was good. The seafood soup was really good & the eggplant dish was good. Everything was really tasty. So happy Andie invited me & also got to meet new people. 10/10 recommend.

Malay Restaurant Inc on 40th St is truly a gem in Flushing Authentic Malaysian flavors that are delicious, comforting, and affordable -- the kind of place loved by generations and supported by the local community for years This spot isn't just a restaurant, it's a destination that keeps customers coming back again and again. If it's your first time, don't miss the Char Kway Teow, Roti Canai, Rendang Beef, Chicken Satay, or the BBQ Fish Skate Every single one is a highlight -- you honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu! They have some amazing skewers! I've never tasted chicken skewers this good before! They have some cucumbers and raw onions on the side, along with a nutty sauce to dip your skewers in. The stir fried rice noodles was another banger dish. It was a big portion size that can 100% fill you up with its savory flavors. The dishes are very affordable as well.

I don't each much Malay food, but I was happy to try this place! We had nasi malek with canai roti. We also had a fried tofu appetizer dish (not picturd) that we really enjoyed. Good price and friendly!

was in the mood for some Malaysian food and decided to order some takeout dishes. The Hainanese Chicken was tasty and decently priced compared to other Malay restaurants. Also, ordered the Curry Beef tendon pot; I was surprised that the Curry based they used was the yellow curry rather than the typical belacan ones (darker and more flagrant). I kinda liked the yellow soup based curry a lot- I usually prefer it as a noodle soup anyway. Aside from the curry Beef dish overall, this is a good Malay restaurant in Flushing

I haven't been here in 2 years. The hours on the door and menu were not the real hours. Certain food were available overnight that were not available in the day and vice versa. There was a bright red broth with noodles that had Hell Fire in it.Info?

Probably Assam Laksa if it was a spicy and sour soup.

This is Hong Kong style done right, and in Flushing you're getting the real thing at prices that genuinely rival what you'd pay in China. We lucked into a nice day and grabbed a seat outside. My one gripe, and it applies to the whole surrounding area and not just Maxi's: there are basically no bathrooms to be found. Plan accordingly before you commit to a big bowl of soup. The food came out quick! Their kitchen is in the basement and they have the dumb waiter sending up food, so very efficient use of space. The Dumplings in Chili Oil (can adjust spice level and cilantro) has added texture with crushed peanuts. We got the regular spicy, but could have gotten extra spicy. They were a decent appetizer but I'd go for something else. The Abalone and Chicken Rice Noodles had decent chicken flavor. There were a couple pieces of dark meat, which I enjoyed. Not sure if there was abalone in here, but if there was, it was nondescript. The rice noodles were well cooked. The Plum Juice had a lovely smokey flavor, along with a lemony flavor form the couple of lemon slices inside. It was not too sweet, though I personally could go for less sugar. We walked into a casual space that fit the style of food, with the main focus being on freshly made noodles, flavorful broths, and hearty dishes. The dining room had a practical, no-fuss energy with a steady flow of customers coming in for a warm bowl, and the open kitchen gave us a view of the noodle pulling process that added a layer of engagement to the meal. The Lanzhou beef noodle soup is the main highlight and the dish that defines the restaurant. We ordered a bowl and found the broth with a rich, savory flavor and a good balance of spices, while the hand-pulled noodles had a satisfying texture that made each bite enjoyable. The thin slices of beef added another layer to the dish, and the chili oil gave the soup extra depth without overpowering the original flavors of the broth. Beyond the noodles, the lamb skewers were another standout item, the meat tender and well seasoned with a smoky grilled flavor that paired nicely with the noodle dishes. The menu also included other options like braised beef noodles and lamb dishes, giving us a few different ways to experience the flavors of Lanzhou cuisine. Service was polite and the overall experience felt relaxed. The restaurant has a straightforward setup, making it a good option for a casual meal, and the ability to customize the meal depending on whether we wanted something lighter or more filling made it easy to adjust the order to our preferences. The staff moved through orders with efficiency, and the food came out hot and well assembled. Overall, DunHuang Lanzhou Beef Noodle is a solid spot for anyone craving authentic Chinese beef noodle soup. The combination of flavorful broth, freshly made noodles, and well-prepared meat dishes makes it worth visiting. It is a simple concept done well, and a place we would return to when looking for a comforting bowl of handmade noodles.
