Also one of the places with horrible parking. Valet only all day and the street parking is non existent, good luck!

That has left a lasting positive impression on me. The interior is cozy and oftentimes there are people working inside, but I haven't given it a try myself. The inside seating isn't super comfortable but there are additional tables outside in front of their retail store, which is ideal on a nice day. Baristas are friendly and knowledgeable. There are some pastries for sale but no real substantial savory food items. Nonetheless, it's a go-to for me.

We were excited to try a new coffee spot in our neighborhood but ended up leaving disappointed. The interior is nicely decorated and has a warm, inviting vibe. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the ambiance. Drinks took quite a while to come out, probably because only one person was handling orders while the rest remained in the back. To top it off, we received the completely wrong order. We didn't have time to wait for a remake so we didn't go back inside. There are plenty of other coffee spots nearby that provide a much better experience. It's clear they need to work out the kinks of being new. read more

I really enjoyed their banana matcha! You can genuinely taste the quality of the matcha, smooth, well-balanced, and not overpowering. The banana flavor paired perfectly and made it such a unique, refreshing drink. They have plenty of options to choose from, which makes me excited to come back and try more of their menu. Came back to FINALLY try the Malaya Signature and let me tell you, there's a reason it's named after the coffee shop. I think I found my new favorite latte! I stayed to do some work with my sister and her puppy. They were so nice and even offered a pup cup!! I love the relaxing vibe inside and how consistently good the drinks are every time. This is officially my new go to coffee shop in Silver Lake. read more

Malaya is a gem! The ube matcha, mango matcha, and mango lemonade matcha refresher were all incredible--I loved them so much I had to get them twice. On top of that, the woman who helped us on Thursday evening (8/21) was so welcoming and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. This place has amazing drinks and even better vibes. Stopped by Malaya on a Saturday and it was packed, line out the door. Despite the rush, the baristas stayed super sweet and focused the whole time. I got the Kapamilya Ube latte and it was amazing. You can actually taste the real ube halaya, which is rare. Definitely a staple in the Filipino community read more

We tried the strawberry shortcake matcha, blueberry shortcake matcha, and the regular strawberry matcha. The shortcake versions honestly weren't that different from the regular drinks besides having cookie butter smeared along the side of the cup. It looked cute, but it didn't really add much flavor since it didn't mix into the drink very well. The matcha itself was still nice and creamy, and I enjoyed it overall, but I personally wouldn't pay around $9 for a matcha on a regular basis.

They tasted like coffee and hojicha was on par. The biscoff on top was a nice touch, too. I think the most disappointing aspect was how tiny the drink cups are. Paying over $8 for a tiny cup wouldn't make anyone happy. These are the LA prices for you. Still a must try for any matcha/coffee fans. I'd recommend making the stop if you're in the area.

The owner and staff are also incredibly nice and welcoming. You can tell they care about the coffee they're serving and take pride in making sure people have a good experience. After two visits, I've had a really positive experience with Good Friend. The coffee has been solid both times, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the people behind the shop make it an easy place to recommend.
