Parking lot is quite small with tight parking and people don't really leave. Needed to circle around a few times on a Monday around 11am until someone left. Street parking is metered. Great spot to for a work from cafe day. Really wanted to try their Caramel Banana Latte but they ran out today.. Malaya Signature Latte -coffee was smooth, drink was quite creamy. Nothing to complain about. Pandan Latte -not the best I've tried. Good drink but flavor was lacking, more condensed milk flavor that I would like over pandan.

Ordered the malaya signature and pandan matcha. Both were great. The staff were super nice. The place seemed very relaxing. The only downside would be the limited parking. Love supporting filipino businesses

Kinda bummed that the service was poor during our last visit. The wait time for our drinks did not make sense. Two customers that ordered after us received their drinks first. One of the customers after me also ordered their new signature Matchaho drink which was suppose to be made with oat milk but was not - it still went out. I have seen this cafe busier and this day was not one of them. Maybe it was an off day? Maybe they were training?

This is an adorable Phillipino coffee cafe! The menu is extensive and creative and I love the plush seating and atmosphere. It reads great energy. I ordered the banana caramel with oatmilk. My drink is creamy, layered and delicious. I do not feel a surge of energy yet and I am more than halfway finished but, I will be back to try their other drinks amd enjoy my morning..It's such a blessing to know so many amazing coffee spots in LA. I love caffeine!!!!!!!

Went on a Sunday morning and it was easy to find parking in the lot up front. The inside was really cute with plenty of seating. The staff was friendly and offered recommendations on what was popular on the menu. Of all the banana matcha I've had, this has got to be my favorite. They had so many different flavors of ensaymada too.

Came here early afternoon on a weekday. The place had a pretty chill vibe to it - minimalist decor which featured the traditional Filipino writing system (Baybayin). Service was quick and staff were friendly. Coffee we ordered tasted good. The ensaymadas were melt in your mouth superb. Note: Limited parking space.

This place is so far from me but is now my new favorite coffee shop. Totally worth the 40 minute drive every once in a while! I had somewhere to be in Silverlake later in the day so I decided to come here to do work while I wait for my next event. I came on a Friday around 2pm and was able to find parking in the lot, though the lot and the cafe started filling up around 4ish. I got an ube matcha with almond milk, and it was great! You could tell the matcha is high quality! I also got one of their mango brioche buns which was so delicious! Overall, it's a great study space with great drinks! I probably would avoid it on weekends but weekday mid days are awesome! The girl that helped me out up front was really nice too. Will be back!

Update: Drink: Came back here to get my usual matcha lattes, took off one star because it felt like the matcha wasn't strong enough/watered down. My partner also got a matcha latte and we agreed it felt watered down today. As soon as we got home, I made us both matcha shots to make up for it. We think they made one regular serving of matcha and just split it between the two drinks because after I made the matcha shots at home, it tasted how it usually tastes. Service: Employees felt off when we were ordering and it did not feel hospitable. Usually, we feel more welcomed, but today was not the case. I was thinking it, but my partner mentioned it on the drive home and we were bummed as we come to this establishment very frequently. Took off another star for that. Overall, I hope there is consistency within this cafe as this was one of our favorites. Nothing but the best for this establishment!

Malaya is a wonderful little coffee shop in the heart of Silver Lake. They serve Filipino inspired coffee and matcha drinks, as well as specialty ensaymadas (Filipino sweet bread) and ice cream. The space is bright and airy and is a great place to sit with a few friends or even work quietly. The staff at Malaya are also very warm and welcoming. I highly recommend the Malaya's Signature Latte (sweet side) and any of their matchas (pandan is popular). The cheese and the coconut pandan ensaymadas are really good and so soft. Make sure to get it warmed up.

Malaya is a cute little coffee shop in Echo Park with Filipino inspiration. Unlike some of the other spots in the area, it's quite spacious with plenty of room to work, play, or just vibe. The aesthetic is minimal yet cozy with light woods, natural light, and pops of greenery. I appreciated that they had unique flavors like ube and pandan in addition to more common ingredients like strawberry and banana. I've been obsessed with pandan, so I had to try the pandan matcha latte iced with oat milk. Truthfully, it was very sweet, so whether you enjoy it depends on your personal preferences. For me, the matcha flavor got a little lost, and when I did taste it, I did experience a bit of grittiness. If I were to order it again, I'd definitely do half sweet. That said, service was kind and fast and I'm happy I tried the spot. I'm intrigued enough that I'd come back to try something else. 3.5/5

Amazing selection and exceptional service. The ambiance and vibes are A+. My personal favorites include their Malaya Signature, Pandan Matcha, and Brown Sugar Cold Brew.No matter if it's Caroline or Amaris or Claudia or Maui behind the counter, they always make my day and I always walk away with a great beverage and a smile. Anthony the owner is always a joy to chat with as well. For an area with some great coffee options, I always look forward to the next visit to Malaya!

    Ube Latte - so good!

Amazing drinks!! We tried these all iced and with oat milk: Ube Cream Latte, Pandan Latte and the Banana Matcha. Each drink had amazing flavor, definitely stir the pandan and ube lattes so you get the full effect. The matcha was so high quality with a vibrant color and the banana flavor actually tasted like banana chips! I hate this parking lot but I'd definitely come back if I was in the area. Drinks are on the sweeter side but I feel like that's expected to really taste the Filipino flavors. There's plenty of seating inside to hang out or get some work done and staff is friendly. They also have some ensaymadas (I think) that you can purchase.

Malaya Cafe is located in a plaza with a parking lot. First come first serve. We arrived just past noon and were able to find parking hassle free. I could see that later in the afternoon parking may not be as available. Let's get to it. How'd I end up here? Spending a work remote day with my sister, who lives in Silverlake, she said you ever been to Malaya? Matcha Pandan, Ube Latte sound good to you? I said, they got seating and wi-fi? She said "yes" I said "run it" Entering in you'll approach almost immediately the cashier and to your right will be a decent amount of seating ranging from small cafe table to barstool seating arrangements. We opted for bar style seating next to the drink station where we could both do work and catch a view of the drinks in action. What we drink? - Malaya Signature Latte 5/5 - Pandan Matcha Latte 5/5 Our barista was awesome and friendly about me snapping a few flicks of her process in action. Not sure if id recommend this cafe for folks who are looking to get some work done while lounging as it did get a bit loud and no quiet corners in the size of the cafe. I definitely recommend for a great latte, meet up with friends or just solo. Malaya is worth the visit and sip down to the last drop

Stopped by Stereoscope for a cortado and had a really enjoyable experience. One thing that…read moreimmediately stood out was the barista's knowledge. She was genuinely engaged in talking about coffee, understood the beans she was serving, and was able to answer questions without hesitation. That's becoming harder to find these days, and it definitely added to the overall experience. The cortado itself was well executed. The temperature was right where it should be, allowing the flavors to come through immediately without having to wait for the drink to cool down. I was able to clearly taste the notes in the coffee, and the balance between the espresso and milk was excellent. The body held together nicely throughout the drink and never felt thin or watered down. My only critique would be that the crema and microfoam leaned a little more matte and foamy than glossy. It wasn't enough to take away from the drink, but a slightly silkier, shinier texture would have elevated it even further. That said, this was an Ethiopian natural, which can be a bit trickier to dial in and pair with milk while still preserving the character of the coffee, so it's a fairly minor criticism. Overall, a very good cortado from a shop that clearly cares about coffee. Good execution, proper temperature, clear flavor separation, and knowledgeable staff always make for a better coffee experience.

Love this spot on Sunset Blvd in Echo Park…read more Great coffee, especially the Dinocat espresso. They also have a Long Black on their menu, which I prefer to an Americano since the crema and flavor is more prominent. The inside seating isn't super comfortable but there are additional tables outside in front of their retail store, which is ideal on a nice day. Baristas are friendly and knowledgeable. There are some pastries for sale but no real substantial savory food items. Nonetheless, it's a go-to for me.

Very much a hipster vibe…read more This shop really thought she ate but unfortunately she did not :( This is a small coffee shop that has a home goods store right next to it. We accidentally went in there first because there was no signage. We were greeted by a friendly barista who did hype up the menu. The specialty section of their menu is pretty out there. I always try to order from there at coffee shops because it's their own creations that they have put thought into so you'd think they'd be good. Also they do have a restroom! We sat outside along the street and the chairs weren't too comfy and it was loud due to the street being right there but it's not their fault. I ordered the Burnt Sugar Latte and it legit just tasted like a chai latte. No coffee flavor at all. It was just oat milk with a slight taste of spices. Didn't taste anything like the description, was pretty disappointed. Portion was also tiny. 2/5 Overall, this place has a cool vibe and can definitely be a place to chill of you don't mind traffic noise BUT coffee was not it.
