Malek is an awesome Middle Eastern restaurant. My dad told me about this place and handed me a couple coupons. I figured if my dad (who's 100% Armenian) gave it the seal of approval, I'd have to like it. Gotta love my dad. You're greeted by fresh pillowy pita bread and toum as soon as you sit down. They have a large menu that's heavy on the lamb and chicken but also has plenty of vegetarian options. Malek also has a larger-than-normal appetizer menu, which is great if you come with a group. Our server recommended the boneless chicken meal on our first visit. Jacob and I decided to share it, as the server said it was a lot of food. The meal came with soup or salad and fries or rice. We decided on the fattoush salad and rice with our meal. Jacob loved the fattoush salad. I'm almost sad I don't eat vegetables because the salad looked and smelled wonderful. The chicken was marinated, juicy and so flavorful. The rice pilaf was perfect, almost like my family makes! We've also tried the lamp kabobs (too overcooked but still yummy) and the chicken over hummus (delicious). The food is great, the space is huge but intimate and the service is efficient and friendly. We'll definitely be coming back. Even if it's pricey, Malek gives you enough food for dinner and lunch the next day. read more

It's how I put the restaurant to the test. Plus it defines the level of authenticity for me. Whenever I'm here, I always get their kibbe Nayee,, It's yummy, it's fresh and it's delish. IF you're not the adventurous type, Deboned chicken is where it's at. Please order this dish with the rice pilaf. Fries is an American thing. It's highly embarrassing when you're eating with someone who's passionate about their food. Their Lamb Kabob is very good as well. Lamb always has great flavor and the way they execute it is sublime. The GARLIC DIP is off the chain here. Phenomenal. I wish it came in a 55 gallon bucket, that's how good it is. Toum (Lebanese garlic sauce) done very well. Located in a strip mall, Malek serves primarily Lebanese food and everything we had was good: garlic dip, hummus, fattoush salad, lentil soup, chicken shawarma. This was the 1st time I've tried this place. My aunt recommended it and I'm glad she did. I ordered the Shawarma combo which had both chicken and lamb served with rice. It was so good! It also came with a side house salad which could have been a meal by itself. The salad was huge and I love the house dressing made with olive oil and lemon. The Tabbouli was very good as well as their bread with the garlic spread. My fiancé ordered the Chicken Shawarma with rice and said it was very good. She likes the hummus too. This place was so good and the service was very friendly and very good. I definitely recommend you try this place if you're in the Taylor, Michigan area. You won't be disappointed. My hot tea was cold, no spoon, sugar or honey; carry out customers food was ready faster than mine and I was sitting there watching while the waitress was sitting drinking something with other co-workers, never came to check on me, walked by me twice... It was a great meal on a cold and blustery winter day. My friend and I ordered the platter for two - hoping that we would have good leftovers for another day and that plan worked. I was born and raised in Taylor for the first 10 years of my childhood, before moving to Ann Arbor. I remember the moment this restaurant first even opened, my family stopped in that first week and we're amazed by the food and amazing customer service. Even though we now live almost an hour away, we still make the drive here at least twice a month because the food is so good. Having been here at least 50+ (I'm thinking more like 100) times I've tried so many things on the menu, everything from lamb shish kabob, boneless chicken, and seafood gallayah, to when I became vegetarian about a year ago and have tried vegetarian gallayah and majadra( my current favorite as of the past months). All the food I've listed above was a 10/10, along with the appetizers like falafel, almond rice pilaf, and the sides like their lentil soup, and basically everything on the menu!! Finally, a middle eastern restaurant that properly packs up the to go order. The tabouli did not leak all over everything else in the bag because it was in the correct type of container. We ordered the standard fare, hummus, tabouli, falafel, shwarma, lentil soup. It was all delicious and freshly prepared. I'm picky about tabouli, and this was near perfection. We ordered both types of pita, which was too much, but we love the warm pita to eat right away, the thin pita for later. I submitted the order online which was easy to do. I arrived at the restaurant a bit early, and order was ready. It was super busy too, even with many tables seated too. We picked this place because of the reviews and proximity to the airport. It's about 15-20 minutes from DTW, which fit into our travel plans perfectly. Since we fly out of DTW about once a month, we will make this a new regular stop. read more

Tasty, nothing to write home about. I really liked the garlic sauce and warm bread which was tasty and strong without the garlic overwhelm as if trying to kill a team of vampires. As for the crushed lentil soup, it was hearty with lots of flavor and a tiny bit of spiciest, although I did use the lemon wedge to brighten it up a bit. That's where I should have stopped. The fattoush with chicken shawarma was disappointing. I liked the way it was dressed lightly along with the flavor of the dressing. Otherwise, the salad was unremarkable. It had a nice helping of a flavorless white meat they told me was chicken. It was light on the vegetables and chips. It left me feeling like I should have eaten only bread and washed it down with a full bowl of soup instead. Definitely worth a return visit.
