I love coming here when I'm downtown. The owner, Paul, is very nice and has been a part of our community forever. It's so nice to see his whole family working here still from time to time. I love their muffins and bagels, the jalapeno cheese bagel and chocolate chip muffin being my favorites. They have Thai tea which is always amazing. I also love their black velvet latte. I have NEVER had this happen to me. I've been in there many times through the years and spent a good amount of money at their business thinking they were good people. This morning while I was waiting for a friend to pick me up and thought I can just hang out for a few minutes to charge my phone. (I was sitting for about 10 minutes) The owner came rushing at me and yelled at me making a huge scene in front of a bunch of people calling me names and kicked me out because I didn't buy a coffee. (I've spent hundreds of dollars here). I graduated high school in this town and they treat people like that? It was extremely embarrassing not only for myself but for him and how verbally abusive he was. It seems like everytime I've gone in there the past couple years the owner and his wife have a stick up their ass. (Sorry for my language). I'm not assuming they are always like that or if they were just having a bad day, but that is no way to talk or treat a person. Especially someone who WAS a customer. Do better guys! This has to be the best place to go for coffee. We have been going for a while now and every time it is consistently good. The owners are awesome!! Very sweet and accommodating. They are dog friendly for the outside tables and I have even seen the owner come out and give the dog a treat. Not sure if that's every time but very thoughtful. Its a small quaint place but perfect for coffee shop. They do have a drive thru, you just pull up and someone comes out to take your order. We always get their iced mocha which never comes out with the burnt taste like some other well known place does. If you are hungry, they serve bagels, muffins, pastries, and breakfast burritos. My husband and I were staying in town with our two dogs so we were looking for a morning coffee place to enjoy. We were staying at the Carlton Hotel and after taking the dogs on a walk at Stadium Park we headed over to Malibu Brew Coffee. I love Chai Tea Latte and theirs was exceptional! My husband likes dark roast coffee and he was pleased with his drink too. We shared a bagel with cream cheese and a chocolate muffin. I'm not a big chocolate muffin fan but this one was really good! The bagel was good but with a little more cream cheese it would have been great! We loved the water bowls they had out for the dogs and one of the workers came by and gave our dogs each a biscuit. My boyfriend found this place while we were in town. And honestly...I loved what I got. I'm hesitant to try Chai Tea at new places because sometimes it just doesn't come out good. I cannot believe I have never been here before! This coffee place is right in the main square in Atascadero off of the park. The lady serving us was the owner; she was the sweetest woman and so helpful with choosing out my order. I got a chai latte with the peach muffin. The chai latte was PHENOMENAL. It had a hint of nutmeg in it which made it extra spicy and unique. I love a chai latte on a cold day, and Malibu Brew really exceeded my expectations with this drink. One of the best chai lattes I have had in a while. I ordered the peach muffin as a recommendation from the owner. This peach muffin was arguably the softest muffin I have ever had. It literally melted in my mouth in a sweet array of flavorful goodness. You could tell that they used real peaches in the recipe because it was tangy and sweet; just like a real peach! Absolutely love this coffee shop and their new location. I have taken a large group here twice so far and they have been so helpful and accommodating to our group of 10+ ladies! They have a "drive up" option, where the owner runs out, asks what you want (though he seemed to know nearly everyone and what they wanted to drink already) and then they run it out to your car when it's ready. This was the cutest place! So friendly and down home... You can tell a family runs it. The ambiance is just old time comfortable... LIke a candy store atmosphere. This is the best coffee EVER! They just opened in a new location across the street from where it used to be and it's amazing! Oh man, this place goes in the worst of the worst. The espresso that is. I ordered a cappuccino. Poor little lady burnt the espresso as well as the milk. I couldn't hardly finish a quarter of it. Looking for coffee while driving up or down Hwy 101, stopped in Atascadero to see if maybe, just maybe there would be a Starbucks. But low and behold a 'mom and pop' coffee shop appeared! It was great. I've been there twice now, had plain coffee the first time and a latte the second. My husband had a great cappuccino both times with an extra shot . . . and we were soooo happy! It's good! And besides that, they have a great breakfast sort of burrito! Spicy, delicious and filling! The owner is Asian, very cool, very helpful and understands service. The owner was super friendly when we walked in, even while he multitasked and ran outside to get orders from his "drive thru" in front of the store's door. Cute little shop with drive in but horrible options and customer service. They don't make anything in house so no modifications possible even their burritos. If you ask any specific questions such as where they get the bagels or pastries and what's in them the guy who owns the shop will become very defensive saying it's just a bakery and that's it pushing you to order or leave. All these reviews of friendly owners must be their friend not real patrons. Absolutely would not support a place like this when there is the wonderful Back Porch Bakery right down the street which has fantastic bagels and much better customer service and coffee. read more

I used to be a frequent customer but now I am utmost disappointed. Went into the new building with friends, one friend had a service dog. We were approached by the owner of the cafe and was told she couldn't bring him in. She explained the circumstances and showed him the tag saying he was a service dog. He continues to make comments to my friend complaining about how her service dog was not allowed in. He violated multiple rights according to the state. I am HIGHLY disappointed and disgusted by the lack of respect that was presented. Until the owner can learn to respect people with medical needs I will no long be a customer read more
