After hiking to Escondido Falls, my friends and I noticed the reviews were decent and decided to give this place a try. This place was located further away from home, but since we were already in Malibu and hungry, we decided to stop by. However, it was a complete disappointment. The beer was decent (as it should be considering it's a brewery), but the food was horrible. The smashburger, short rib sandwich, and the short rib mac and cheese were all flavorless. On top of that, the prices were steep, which made the experience worse. Had the food been delicious, I wouldn't bother complaining, but I do not want anyone else to pay the price for such a flavorless meal. Seems like no salt or seasoning was used on any of the food items. Not only that, we had to seat ourselves, weren't given menus until 15-20 mins after we sat ourselves, and never offered any water throughout the entire meal. That is just not acceptable. For having such a beautiful view and being located in Malibu, it's quite unfortunate the food is far below expectations and the service is lacking greatly. I will not be a returning customer. read more

My niece and I spent a day in Malibu. We started at Point Dume State Beach-nice and relaxing. Afterwards we stopped at Malibu Brewing. We both had a flight of beers and shared some chicken nachos (I love when the chicken or beef is shredded on nachos). My flight of beers was very refreshing. My favorite was the honey blonde. The service was great. When I'm in the area again I will stop by and try more of your refreshing beers. read more

Oh man, this place is the most pretentious brewery ever. The beer isn't great and the food was misleading as it would be like "nachos!" And what you would get would be multigrain chips with micro greens. Just let me get normal nachos Malibu brewing! This is probably the best Cali-life brewpub in SoCal. Steps from the surf, its ideal indoor/outdoor vibe is so relaxing and refreshing. I never feel like I stayed long enough. The chef is a rock star. Beers are excellent with good variety and not just a long list of IPAs. There's literally nothing not to love about this place. Six stars. read more

The ambiance of this location was beautiful even on a over cast. The service and the drinks were both excellent. but unfortunately the food wasn't as yummy as I hoped for. *sad face* For all 3 of these items I think the main factor would be flavor. The peppers could've been more cooked as in sautéed, instead of a crunchy bite texture, the garlic flatbread was missing maybe some kind of a drizzle to add more flavor and the mac and cheese definitely need a season. It was too bland. We had to add salt & pepper just to add some flavor to our bite. read more

We stopped in early on a Friday night before the crowd and had a delicious dinner and great service! We sat at the communal table outside, but then ventured inside to a table because it was chilly. They were more than happy to accommodate! We had the pretzel bites to start, which were delicious! I had the burger, my daughter had the burrito with vegan cheese (she's allergic to dairy and they were very kind to make sure the cheese was suitable) and my husband had the blackened shrimp tacos. Everything was so yummy! Will definitely be back and when we were leaving there were lots of people gathering for live music on the grassy area. Really lovely surprise! Went for the beer, stayed for the food and wished we had not. Beer is so-so, if in the area would stop by but wouldn't go out of our way to go. Fish tacos were cold and flavorless. Short rib Mac n cheese also flavorless. Chicken Toscano had the most flavor but the chicken was very dry and there was too much pomodoro sauce, which actually helped out the dry chicken though. Was here on a Saturday night, it was fairly busy, yet we were accommodated with in approximately 30min. We showed up with out reservations, so yes we waited. Recommend people to make reservations on open table instead. I'm quite please with the experience on my 1st visit, it will probably not the my last. The beer was also excellent Price: I love that this place is not ridiculously overpriced like many Malibu restaurants. It's quite affordable and for that reason I'll be back again. Also their service is great so that's a huge reason to be back! Overall: The only reason I did not give 5 starts it's because the food is okay, but it's not amazing. The ambiance was really great both inside and outside the restaurant. The service was really good also. Sadly, the food just wasn't very good. We asked that the mac n cheese be removed from the bill because it was very overdone and dry. The burger was decent. The nachos were more like enchiladas and got soggy even sooner than a normal nacho. Two items I'd recommend from our party of 13 are the french fries and the potato skins. Someone I work with wanted to go. It was again totally horrible. I didn't eat my salad. Sent the whole thing back. It's actually a big bowl of arugula. It's called a GRAIN bowl. There's about 3 tablespoons of quinoa in there. The avocado had a big brown spot. The dressing was nothing to keep this from being completely bland bowl of arugula. I had the smash burger 3x3 substitute the chips for fries.....let's start off with the burger it's definitely not a smash burger but it's not a fat burger either. Tasted really good. But now on to the fries they gave me maybe 10 fries total when you dine in it looks like they give you more based off the pictures...they were fresh though not frozen so that's a plus....worst part about this place is they charge a sustainability fee? Like is my money/business not enough to sustain your business? 2.50$ I may sound petty but if your gonna charge me extra money for sustaining your business sustain my hunger by giving me more fries lol I rate this spot 7.5 out of 10 my total was 26$ and some change read more

Parking was ample. Friendly staff greeted us as we walked in the door. No wait for a table, the place was about half full. Bathrooms were really clean. Service was great. Beer selection was pretty vast and the First Point I ordered was tasty and, credit to the server, my glass was never empty. A bit of a drive for those not in Western Malibu as it's in the popular Trancas Market area which now boasts a large grassy area for concerts/picnics right outside the restaurant. On the phone they did say walk-ins are welcome -- but it was an hour wait on a recent Friday at 4:30pm (didn't know there was a concert that night). We could have been seated inside but it was crowded and VERY LOUD with horrible acoustics -- so our party of 5 bit the bullet and waited for a patio table which turned out to be the right move. As for the beer, we enjoyed the coffee porter and the Hatch Chili lager. Food was decent but for a nice gastro pub / brewing company it did not match the level of the beer. Flatbreads, salads, chicken wings all decent but the highlight were those pretzel bites with both cheese sauce and mustard. The dog friendly patio overlooking the concert area was the highlight and the service was excellent. We'll be back -- hopefully on a less crowded evening. read more
