Good was excellent and service was even better. . Very brunch cafe style. Swedish fruit filled pancakes was super yummy. California egg Benedict - eggs was too well done. But biscuits were yummy. Flavorful and moist. Surprise - side potatoes were quite flavorful ! Would ask for more well done next time though. Will definitely be back

Maltby Cafe is a never miss for me (when I actually can go and the wait isn't 1 hr+). I swear everyone who works here drinks happy juice and is so pleasant and kind. This time my daughter got the pancakes for the kids menu which came shaped as a bear with chocolate chip eyes which was adorable and delicious. My husband and I split the Montana potatoes (he added a side of gravy for the biscuit) which was enough for us to each have breakfast and leftovers for the next day. The food here is true diner food leveled up. Classics that taste homemade with love! Can't wait to visit them when they open the new, bigger location!

We came here after hiking in the area and thought we would have a long wait because it was right at prime lunchtime, and even though they said 15 minute wait, it ended up being a shorter wait. Food was good, very big portions. We had to try the cinnamon roll, really yummy. They have some seating at the bar also.

Very uneven. The Malby beef dip and potato salad was delicious. Very interesting potato salad with celery, red onion and dill. Yummy. My turkey wrap was fine, though i couldn't find the lettuce on it. The "fries " however were not edible. Extremely greasy, unevenly cooked. How could anyone eat these? I asked the server and she said that's how they make them. Ugh. I couldn't eat half my meal.

Although I've gotten the cinnamon rolls before, I don't think I'd properly dined in before. The cafe is located in the basement, and there's a parking lot conveniently located right outside. I came in a small group, and we got seated after a few minutes. The service was great from start to finish, and we were chatting with the servers while we were waiting for our table. I ordered the French toast, and it was so good. I loved the fresh berries and cream on top because of the extra boost of flavor. The portions were generous, and I brought back some of my food as leftovers. We got a cinnamon roll to go as well.

A lovely and family welcoming environment. The food was good and the service was better. They are known for their cinnamon rolls so we had to try one! However, I was left a bit disappointed. Some people Iove them but it wasn't for me. Worth visiting at least once!

First time at the cafe for breakfast. We went on a Friday morning around 9am and it was busy but there were several empty tables and didn't have to wait. Cafe is standard. Staff were attentive and friendly. Food came out pretty fast from when we ordered to coming out. Food made from scratch. Juice felt like it was hand press and not from a container. Their toast is homemade. Entrees are pricey but worth it with the portion size. We ordered the following items: Orange juice Two extra large eggs with bacon Country scramble California scramble 3 egg protein

    Today's special, Eggs Benedict!

It's been a long while since I've been to Maltby Cafe and I'm happy to report that nothing has changed. It's still giving you massive amounts of fresh, delicious food for a very reasonable price which is a rarity these days. Couple this with fast, friendly service, great coffee, and a great atmosphere and Maltby Cafe is still the best breakfast in Snohomish County and maybe even Western Washington.

Everything about this place is amazing. My wife and I split the swedish pancakes and a burrito, and everything was top tier. The crispy potatoes are some of the best breakfast potatoes, the cream on the pancakes was like ice cream that didn't melt...come here. You won't regret it!

I love this place with my whole heart. Maltby Cafe has been my favorite breakfast spot in the greater Seattle area for over 30 years, and that loyalty has been very earned. The cinnamon rolls are legendary for a reason. Warm, massive, perfectly gooey, and somehow still worth every bite even after decades of ordering them. The scrambles are always comforting, hearty, and done right, the kind of breakfast that keeps you full and happy all day. The ambience is pure cozy nostalgia. It feels like a place where time slows down a little, conversations linger, and breakfast actually feels special. Awesome servers, no rush, no trend-chasing, just consistently great food and a vibe that makes you want to come back again and again. Some places are good. This place is part of my life.

Ask the Community - Maltby Cafe

How long is the average wait on the weekend?

Depends on the day of week, time, and size of party, but I'd say an average of 45 minutes for brunch for a party of four. Party of two slices that time to perhaps 30. Generally they are quicker than their published/relayed wait time.

How long do they serve breakfast on weekends?

All day, which means till 3PM. They recently changed so they also serve breakfast all day on weekdays. Download the weekend menu here - http://www.maltbycafe.com/Userfiles/Docs/Weekend.pdf and it says the hours.

How is the Maltby Cafe for gluten free menu items? Celiac's aren't eating out of choice, we have to eat gluten free.

I would call and ask the owner if they serve gluten free meals. They are very responsive to the needs of their patrons. My suggestion is call on a weekday and early.

What is the best day of the week and time of day to go where it is not super busy?

It is best to go on a weekday at 7am, it is uncrowded at that time. The weekends get very busy.

I didn't try the coffee but my ice tea was great. We decided to split the Gutbuster omelette. And it's good we did because it was a huge plate of food. Truly lived up to its name. I have to admit the hashbrowns were PERFECT! Crispy on the outside, not oily, and thick and soft on the inside. The omelette filling was super tasty! I'm originally from Everett but moved to Florida last year. I'm back visiting family with my…read morepartner and wanted to show him Snohomish. We stopped in for brunch and I got my usual tarragon chicken sandwich and he got the chicken friend steak. I got water and he had asked for a Snohomish Coffee, which included alcohol, to which the waitress repeated "Snohomish Coffee", but he received a regular drip coffee. Neither of us were upset and didn't ask for a correction as it was busy and a simple oversight. When I ordered my sandwich, I asked for the pasta salad as my side and a side salad to add on. When my meal arrived, the pasta salad was replaced with the salad which, again, was fine and I didn't bring it up to the waitress - she seemed overwhelmed by the amount of people in the restaurant. When the bill came, I had noticed a $4.25 charge for the salad and asked about the amount. I told the waitress that I hadn't received my pasta salad, emphasizing that this was totally okay, I was more confused about the price. On the menu, it notes that side salad substitutions are $3.00, not $4.25. She informed me this was her first day, and as someone who worked in the industry for many years, I completely understood. She said she would ask and came back saying the price was correct but they hadn't updated prices on the menu yet. This didn't sit too well with me, but I left it as to not go back and forth. After all, the waitress doesn't control prices. However, if a price is posted, that's what should be on the ticket, whether it's been updated or not. The nail in the coffin for me was after I paid in cash, I thanked the waitress twice. She not only stopped making eye contact with me after the price incident, she said not a word either. No "thank you", no "thanks for coming in", not any acknowledgement of my existence. She put the change on the table and walked away. Again, as someone who has worked in the industry, when something (like prices) is out of my control, I still would apologize for the confusion or misunderstanding, and try to make things right or at least have the customer leave with some sort of sense of resolution. That was not attempted. I loved this place for years but unfortunately after today's interaction, I am not confident I will be back.

I was expecting something mouthwatering but it wasn't there. I wasn't too impressed because the service really killed it for me. The place is nice though, really packed and my mimosa was good. I got the pineapple mimosa. At least I got a good drink. Oh the Greek fries were BOMB! I think they are seasonal but get them while they have them! I usually order take out from this place, and they have a few dedicated spots right in front of their door, as well. Convenient! I've had a wide range of their burgers, fries, onion rings, tots, etc... and everything has been extremely good. One standout that SHOULD NOT be THIS GOOD is the "Black and Bleu" burger - blackening spices, bleu cheese, fried onions, and chipotle mayo (plus lettuce, onion, etc)... It is a great balance of different flavors you don't usually see, and it works. They also use clearly pretty good bleu cheese, because it's super flavorful. Other great burgers I've had are: jalapeno burger, western burger, bacon burger... all pretty standard, but the patty is always cooked nicely (juicy, not overdone, seasoned well). Their tots are super crispy. Onion rings and fries are solid (not amazing, not bad). Anyway, at the end of the day... this place gives me consistently tasty food -- really can't complain!
