The sauce is made of fermented soybeans and other ingredients.). Dong Bo Sung has a 1/2 Jjajangmyun and 1/2 Jjambbong (spicy seafood soup with noodles) option, so I usually grab that. Their Tang Soo Yook (fried breaded pork with sweet & sour sauce) is average but yummy, while their Kkangpoong Sehwoo (sweet & spicy fried breaded shrimp) is definitely one of the yummiest in the area. This time however my husband and I ordered the japtangbap which has mixed sauteed seafood over egg fried rice, and a mixed dish that had a little of everything we usually get. Chicken was great - just what you would expect chicken kkanpponggi to be- sauced and juicy on the inside. Came here on an acquaintance's recommendation and tried the tang soo yook and jjambbong. The tang soo yook sauce had an odd, almost pickled cucumber flavor and the exterior wasn't crispy. I called to order after accessing the pdf version of the menu on their website. The menu stated the price was $29.99, but when I went to pick up the order, I was charged $32.00. I inquired about the price, and they responded by saying that the website that I accessed was not theirs, even though it was the exact same website that was accessed through their business url and even the QR code on the business card. I understand that prices could increase, especially given COVID, but I wasn't expecting to be gaslit about the price on the menu. All they had to say was that they failed to update the pdf version of the menu and apologize for the discrepancy. Terrible service mentality. UPDATE: Food was also subpar. Noodles broke off even before biting so jjajangmyeon became porridge when the noodles were mixed with the sauce. The sweet and sour pork pieces were made to look big with thick batter coating but small pieces of meat so the pieces were more carb than protein. The side dish of radish kimchi looked like they gave us someone's leftovers. The name of the restaurant was called Korean Chinese Restaurant so it might be a bit confusing to find this place. We came in for a late lunch on a Sunday and it wasn't packed. It was nice that we also got a private room with a long table that accommodated all of us (9 ppl). Overall the food was good. Fried rice and noodle soup were our favorites. If you're craving Korean-Chinese cuisine that consistently tastes good and is fairly priced, this place is probably the best choice in Bergen County. The entrees, Jjampong (Seafood Noodle Soup) and Jjajangmyun (Black Bean Noodles), are delicious as staple choices. They also have many combo menu options so that you can pair noodles with a dish like Tangsuyook (Fried pork with honey sauce) or Kkampoongi (Fried chicken with spicy sauce) for a fraction of the price of these dishes that you can only usually order as a family size menu item at other restaurants. Even the family size portions, which we ordered, were the most economically priced. The ambience is not the fanciest but for your typical Korean-Chinese restaurant, it fills the bill. Dong Bo Sung is a very small and unassuming restaurant but their food is delicious! They're most known for their Jajangmyun, and for good reason. Their jajangmyun was very good and cheap, only $9. I do wish they had more noodles in their jajangmyun though. My table also shared the Fried Chicken with Garlic Sauce. It was freshly fried and crispy. The sauce was tangy and delicious. I'm not one to leave negative reviews but the rudeness and attitude of the male owner was atrocious. I found a cigarette butt in my food that I actually bit into. I called and the owner did not take responsibility or apologize. Saying there's not reason for that to be in there. I went back to get a refund and the female owner apologized. This place would definitely be my go-to place if I lived closer to here. The location is very convenient because it's right next to the H-Mart Plaza. I heard there's a parking lot in the back, but you can also walk over from the plaza if anything. Whenever I go to a Korean-Chinese Fusion restaurant, I get jajangmyeon (or black bean noodle). I come here all the time since it's so close to my home. They have parking spaces at the back. I've tried many different korean-Chinese restaurant places in the town, and I think Dongbosung has one of the better black bean noodle dish. Their other dishes were pretty good too. The prices of their dish compared to other restaurants might be slightly more expensive, but I think they give decent portion for the price. I had one incident where the noodles were not fresh (hence taking off one star) but other times were pretty satisfactory. The service is average, not super friendly, but fast and accommodating. This place is delish for a bowl of jja jang myun or tang su yuk (sweet and sour fried pork). The prices are reasonable and they have a lunch special until 3pm. Request the sauce for the sweet and sour pork so it doesn't get soggy. Then the pork status really crispy and its better to go too. The pork is special because it's fried with a rice batter. Its not as oily and its extra crispy in my onion compared to other places. Service was friendly and food came out quickly too.
