I had the most unexpected delicious latte at my last pop into Maman. The salted honeycomb tahini latte!!!!! I'm not new to tahini at all, being Lebanese, but the thought of it in a drink?!? Unheard of and frankly, iconic. I took a chance on something new and was instantly so happy I did. I'm glad I asked the barista which milks they offered because the second they said pistachio I was immediately impressed. I asked for the latte "less sweet" and it was just the perfect hint of sweet to mingle with the salty and smooth sip. The location was extremely busy but the baristas are cranking out handcrafted drinks left and right! The location is beautifully decorated and plenty of parties were enjoying their brunch and catching up over their delectable selection. I got the seasonal latte which is currently an almond croissant latte. It tasted like coffee with a bunch of almond extract, topped with whipped cream. It had such an alcohol taste to it. The desserts are amazing! I've had many so far and they NEVER fail. Prices are reasonable for the desserts and a little more pricey for the food. I haven't tried the food just yet though. I've been a fan of maman since it was solely a NYC based bakery, and I'm so glad to see it's expanded to DC! This store front appear small on the outside but actually is very spacious inside, and they even have a little study area for people who wanna work. They have a great selection of pastries and coffees/drinks in addition to hot food. I stopped in for a sweet treat and tried the poached pear and caramel danish, which was incredible! However, I noticed the line goes pretty quickly if you're just looking to get a baked good item and coffee. I got their kale and potato bowl... SOOOOO GOOD. It didn't have much kale if you're not a kale person but you'd wish they give you more kale for how well it was cooked. I also enjoyed our waiter who was very pleasant and gave excellent recommendations. Went here on a Saturday morning for brunch. Parking was difficult. Found a spot few blocks away. It was busy but it took only less than 5 minutes to get seated. Tried black coffee and Andrea's everything croissant & salmon sandwich which was a toasted croissant with smoked salmon, cucumber, pickled onions, and lemon whipped cream cheese. It's okay. I think nothing special. Pistachio chocolate croissant was heavenly. The contrasting creamy filling inside and the crunch from the pistachio outside made it very, very good. Yummy. Beautiful restaurant and decent food. But, the price is high for what it is. I ordered a $20 omelette and had to pay $5 extra for the toast. Sounds a bit crazy. But I also did not want just plain toast. So, I asked for strawberry jam to go with my toast as well. Apparently, they charge an extra $4 just for strawberry jam. Basically, I would have to pay an extra $9 just for toast and jam to go with my $20 omelette. I'm not a rocket scientist. But, it does not add up that other restaurants can give you the whole package for $20 and I'm paying nearly $30 for the same thing. I didn't get to stay as long as I would have liked, but just a few minutes in the cafe and you can tell it set apart from other places. The lighting is bright and feels natural. The decor is spectacular reminding me of a cottage. The detail in the shop keeps you wanting to explore and look around. Catching my eye were the blue white china/dishes the food and drinks were served on. Maman's espresso maker and their disposable coffee cups were wrapped in a pattern similar to the dishes. The pictures hung made the cafe feel homey and cozy. The light fixtures over the purchasing counter were very unique. I think they were meant to look like wasp nests, but please correct me if I am wrong. The service was fabulous. The young lady taking my order was very friendly and helpful when I couldn't decide on a cookie to go with my cortado. The lady making the espresso drinks at the back counter was very impressive. She was whipping out drinks like a pro. The cortado was delicious. I will definitely be returning to this shop for more than a coffee drink. Charming French bakery/cafe with attractive pastries that taste as good as they look. Not always an easy feat to pull off. I had my first "croissant-cake" offering here. It's a unique creation that I was skeptical about; just couldn't believe that a croissant, which is difficult enough to produce, could be baked into something else with success and still taste yummy, but Maman has done just that. I recommend the orange chocolate cheesecake croissant cube, it's pretty fab. Oprah Winfrey deems that one of Maman's cookies, the nutty chocolate chip, is among her "Favorite Things". I couldn't agree more: it's rich and wonderfully gooey. Coffee is fixed to order and excellent. This Georgetown spot is bright, botanical, and inviting. I would give a "0" if it was an option for the appalling conduct that I received while with my daughter. I'm honestly very disappointed and saddened by my experience at Maman Georgetown. What should have been a pleasant visit turned into something uncomfortable and disheartening. While at the counter, I felt singled out and treated with suspicion when presenting my form of identification. The staff member examined it in a way that felt unnecessary and inappropriate--scratching at it and making remarks implying that it wasn't real, even commenting that the "smudge would come off." To make matters worse, my photo was closely scrutinized, and the counter clerk commented that it didn't look like me. Another cashier added that I looked much younger in the picture. These remarks felt unprofessional and embarrassing, especially being said out loud in front of others. The tone and behavior came across as dismissive and, frankly, humiliating. It's hard not to feel that there may have been an element of bias in how I was treated. No customer should be made to feel embarrassed or judged in that way, especially over something so routine. A situation like that could have been handled with professionalism and respect, but instead it left me feeling unwelcome and deeply uncomfortable. I truly expected better. Sadly, this experience has left a lasting impression, and not a positive one. read more

this was my first time at maman and i will 100% be coming back! i came at 1230pm on a sunday and it was crowded. luckily as a party of 1 i got a seat at a counter right away. my service was good and my food came within 10 min. they have lots of options on their menu and certainly something for everyone. at the very least, their pastry case will certainly not leave you hungry!!! my salad was tasty, my chai was hot fresh and delicious, and the seasonal pumpkin cube croissant was absolutely fabulous. it looked good AND tasted good. light, airy, fresh-feeling vibes. not a huge place but it's prime real estate in downtown georgetown. they have a couple tables outside too. i paid w/ inkind and got $10 off so that was a treat. i think things were averagely priced for an upscale cafe. already planning my next visit :) read more

Maman is a solid 4 stars! Super cute café with a Parisian garden vibe. My husband and I waltzed in here on a Monday morning around 10:30 and the place was slammed. Thankfully, we found a table for 2 nestled just before you get to the coffee bar in the back. We ordered a decaf mocha, a flat white, a chocolate covered pretzel croissant (5/5 on this one), avocado toast and a cinnamon bun/roll. The coffees were delicious. The avocado toast was so-so and the cinnamon roll was dry as a bone. Would not get either of these items again. The service was also really great and despite it looking like you may have to bus your own tables here, the service staff came and cleared a few plates as we finished them. I thought that was a nice touch! One thing to note, this place doesn't really accommodate larger folks. (I am not speaking of myself, but to be aware of any and all walks of life is necessary in the restaurant business). The tables are VERY close together, so it really doesn't allow for much space around you. FYI. I would return and I know the items I would pick here.
