This was a ridiculously cold night and was cold enough that the water pipes froze, which probably didn't help their prep time. I ordered a 26 count of mini donuts for 10 dollars. At the time they only offered Apple Cider Donuts with a few sauces on them. Given that it was around 15 degrees outside, I opted to just get my donuts and run. It was about 10-15 minutes to get them, but given the abnormally long lines, I don't anticipate this being the typical wait time. These donuts are really good, especially warm. A little bit of bite, but mostly warm fluffy donut goodness. Perfect for a dessert or snack craving, and the 26 pack was plenty to share. They're not as good cold, but I think we all expected that. I've been wanting to get into the fall spirit with some apple cider donuts and I happened to fall upon this truck while browsing the interwebs. They happened to be near my work that day so I hustled during my lunch time to find the truck. Alas, I had no luck. I read that they visit the Vienna's farmer market every Saturday till the end of October, so I ventured on a dreary rainy day to finally get my paws on some mini donuts. Do you know Hostess' crumble donuts? Forget about them! Because no other cake donuts matter besides theses. Let me start by saying, I tried to avoid them. The pink truck stood out like a sore thumb as I entered into the farmers market. I swayed, looked up (bright eyed and bushy tailed) and immediately saw the long line of folks who support MDB (I waned, and walked away for a second to see fresh veggies). As I was walking around, I began to notice donut bags. My eyes wandered just a tad bit too long and apparently controlled my feet, because I found myself standing in line waiting for those fresh donuts I wanted so badly. There was an assistant. She greeted us and asked us how many we wanted (unbeknownst to her, my friend and I are watching are girlish figures that are more accurately defined as womanish). We told her 6 (three for my friend and three for me) which sounded reasonable at the time. We asked if they accepted credit/debit cards and the owner responded to us (yes). We began a short convo which led us to receive a free personalized donut with raspberry jam (really something special, not too sweet and not too thick) and white chocolate icing (aka awesome sauce). I took a look at the sign again to see what type of donuts they were: Apple Cider cake donuts. They were the lightest cake donuts I've ever had in my life and were incredibly delicious. We walked away from the stand after our special treatment (I'd like to think this treatment was special for us because we're fantastic, but my delusions of grandeur are probably just that, because they were both really friendly with all the customers) and browsed other booths and trucks. At about the third stop my friend and I discussed how awesome the donuts were and how disappointed we were at ourselves for not being disciplined. I tried to reach my hand back into the bag and she gave me the stink eye, that "girl get your own bag!" look. At that exact moment did I realize that MDB weren't for sharing and that the only way to rectify our misguided behavior was to each purchase our own bags of donuts. Walked back and we each purchased 12 donuts, this time with the added jam and icings to our likings (12+3 donuts = a failed day of trying to be healthy...but I count it all in joy and chalk up that L for a day to be shaken off at the gym). The owner told us that "it's a known fact that there are no calories in donuts on Sunday." We took his word for it. I'll see you again soon MDB! If you're trying to keep a waist line, don't even bother stopping at this truck. On the other hand, if you like me and realize it's mid summer, you've had a gazillion cocktails and don't care what the waist line looks like at this point, RUN don't walk to this truck. The donuts are amazing, and that's not an understatement! They're light. They're fluffy. They'll go down before you can finish savoring the flavor. Annnndddd they're contagious. Tips for your visit: *The single bag of fresh, hot, cinnamon sugar donuts can be eaten truck side, seriously they won't make it back to the office. *If you want to share, get the big bag. Yes it's $20 or so, but trust me you won't want to share the single bag. *Announce to the office you're going to the momna donut truck and take up a collection. I love the Mamas Donut Bites donuts, the sauces, and the service, when the truck is actually there! I've given MDB three stars for their product, but have taken off two because of the unreliable service and communication they have had over the past three months. The truck usually does a good job of sticking to its scheduled locations throughout the week, but twice I have not been able to get donuts for the office due to inconsistent service. Both times, MDB tweeted they would be in a certain location and have either gone to a different location last minute and way later in the morning, or have not shown up at all. This inconsistent service makes me very hesitant to trust when MDB says they will be at a certain location at a certain time, which is unfortunate because the donuts are so delicious! read more

I first spotted this little pink truck at the Bruno Mars concert but did not feel like fighting through the crowd to see that it was all about. I put the name in memory and located it in Falls Church on a Sunday morning! Let's talk about this truck...the guy who serves thelittle pieces of heaven is a very nice guy who apparently only eats 1 or 2 of these per shift! I am not sure how he does it but kudos to him! They are little bite sized hot apple cinnamon donut bites. You can order in quantities of 6, 12 or 26. On the outside counter of the truck, you will find powered sugar, sprinkles and a host of syrups that you can use to cover your bites if you wish. They are ready to eat when you get them in the small paper bag because they are rolled around in cinnamon sugar before served to you. Sooooo you really don't have to add anything extra to enjoy them if you so desire to eat them as they come! They are good as is...but I choose to add powered sugar...probably more than needed. When I reach the last donut bite, I scoop up as much powered sugar as possible in the bag and throw the entire thing in my mouth! #NotAshamed LOL Above all, the service is very quick and the guy is super nice! The donuts are always hot and fresh. And the price is right!!! I have been a couple of times now and recently I decided to bring me a to-go cup of milk to compliment the bites. That set them off! If you like milk, bring some along, order you 6 (or 26 if you want), grab a seat on the bench and enjoy. I do believe the truck can be found in different locations. Probably some of the best doughnuts I've ever had, anywhere. They remind me of smaller versions of the doughnuts sold at the Louisburg, Kan., cider mill, which is definitely a compliment. I work in Rosslyn and the truck was parked in the neighborhood today. My co-worker ran out and got a bag and shared. I ate one, while it was still warm and soft and sugary, and almost immediately ran out to get my own bag. The service was fast and zippy and good-natured. I sprung for a full dozen for $5, and also took a little container of white chocolate dipping sauce. They also have caramel and raspberry that I saw, and maybe more. For the size of the bites, the dipping sauce selection (pretty much whatever you want, as much as you want) and the quality of food and service, I thought the price was fair. They taste best when they're hot and fresh, but I finished the bag off later and they were still good. Can't wait for them to come back. read more

On a lovely October day I had a meeting in Arlington. I walked by Mama's Donut Bites, and thought, "It's a lovely day for a donut!" I also had been really good about not buying sweets the past month or so, so I walked past the truck on to my meeting with no donuts in hand. On my way back from the meeting was a different story however. You can't expect me to walk by this truck twice in one day without getting a taste of their donuts... I ordered the 6 donut bites for $3, and the owner asked if I'd had the pumpkin donuts before. I said no, and actually hadn't even realized I had ordered pumpkin donuts....Best surprise ever!!! I don't really need all those fancy schmancy gourmet donuts from the donut shops in DC. All I need is a nice warm and fluffy donut. Good ones don't even need frosting!!! Every time I have this, it's warm, just the right amount of sugar, and explosion in your mouth full of sugary goodness. Yes, it seems expensive for donuts, but they are so worth it. Have been visiting MDB's truck for a few months now since I started noticing them in Rosslyn. Initially I was visiting every day that they were here but um...they're not nice to my waistline! lol. Mama, son and daughter, whom I usually see in the truck, are all VERY NICE and courteous to their customers-I've never seen anyone complain. The food itself? AHH-MAZING! The donuts are fried fresh in the truck, made to order basically, even though they only offer one flavor per day. You can even see the donut batter dropping from the machine into the hot oil! They also have homemade sauces that you can put into plastic containers, or if you ask for your donut bites in a bowl (rather than bag), you can just squeeze the sauces on top of them! My fave donut flavors are: Dutch chocolate, blueberry and red velvet. My fave sauces are: cream cheese icing (usually available on days red velv is served), white chocolate sauce, and raspberry preserves! So, forget Krispy Kreme, Dunkin' Donuts, or any other donut shop, you can't get any better than fresh-made-as-you-order-donuts!! P.S. If you're a new customer, you can ask for a sample!! Discovered them today after a coworker insisted that I try a donut. It was the Pumpkin Spice flavor. I immediately went to find the truck myself and purchased 26 to take home! Today's flavor is Apple Cider (the guy offered to make plain bites as well). The bites are generously covered in cinnamon-sugar and can be topped with various sauce (at your discretion), including Raspberry, Chocolate, and White Chocolate. OH MY GOD, THESE ARE AMAZING! We saw them at the Reston farmer's market at Lake Ann on Saturday and they were selling freshly made mini doughnuts. How fresh, you ask? You get to see them being fried right in front of your eyes. I bought a small bag for $3. They give you the bag of mini doughnuts without toppings and you visit the topping bar and add the following toppings to you're heart's content: chocolate sauce, caramel, rainbow sprinkles, white chocolate sauce, honey, powdered sugar, etc. SO GOOD!! They might be the only doughnut vendor for miles around. I mean, you can get Dunkin' Doughnuts or Krispy Kreme but those are gross. These are fresh artistically masterpieces reminiscent of the many doughnut shops that bake fresh daily all over Los Angeles. I'm so glad I found them! read more

My boyfriend had heard about Mama's food truck so we woke up on Sunday morning and went to the Westover Farmers Market in search of said donuts. We were quite a few people deep when we arrived around 10am but the line moves quickly. They only serve one flavor a day which helps speed the process along and you can buy bags of these adorable little donut holes for just a few bucks. WOW. I am a big donut fan and frequently research new places to try donuts in the area. Today's stop was Mama's Donut Bites food truck at the Westover Farmers Market and they were as good as it gets. My fiancee and I drove from Rockville to Arlington to try Mama's. We stood at Mama's truck in the pouring rain for 20 minutes talking to the owner and eating one after another of the delicious apple cider donut bites with the various toppings they have out. They were honestly the best I've had, as fresh as it gets and delicious on a cold rainy day. Our experience at Mama's was the best from start to finish in all areas. We had a great conversation with the owner, who was very nice and personable. The donuts were so good that we stopped back for round 2 for some to take home after perusing the rest of the farmers market. The prices were also extremely fair!
