The sea food soup was lacking sea food tbh it was mostly broth and hard vegetables. The main plate the shrimp and mambo rice was lacking. The Shrimp must have been on a diet because they looked extremely small for a main plate and the rice was supposed to have a mix of sea food and if I found one shrimp in it I was lucky. This is a good place for some good quick seafood. The main stay for me is their great shrimp cocktail. It's a huge portion for a great price. It could be a meal all on its own. First visit at this fairly new location. The Mambo Style Shrimp on the starter menu and Mambo rice is delicious. We also tried Mambo Chelada with Modelo beer for the first time, very good. If you like blood Mary's ... this is a bloody beer. Great service and management. The manager actually brought us the shrimp and rice to try because we did not order their famous dishes on our first visit. I came here to eat with my family and they refused to attend us. I believe they discriminated against us because our son has special needs. The staff gave us ugly looks as soon as we walked in and when we sat down at a table nobody came. We waited for 15 min. People who came in after us and sat next to us were attended right away. Placed an order online for pick up. Simple and fast. I have had great experiences with the other locations. I don't live near a Mambo Seafood. So when I get some I very much enjoy it. I never had my orders mess up until I order from this location. I order the original shrimp fried rice and a pound of shrimp. What I received was spicy combination fried rice and half the shrimp. I didn't think to check it since I had great experiences with the other locations. Unfortunately the job was not preformed properly here. I was really looking for to the food and it was ruined. What a disappointment this was! And right across the street from a nice restaurant like Saltgrass, too. Yikes. We came in for lunch on a Friday and immediately noticed how crowded it was. This is not a romantic or intimate place to take a date. It is extremely packed, loud and the tables are jam-packed in the building which means you'll hear your neighbor's conversations and they will hear yours. Although there was about 10-12 waitresses and waiters standing near the kitchen door chatting and checking their phones, it took a good 10 minutes before our waitress showed up to take our drink order. We asked about a few of the options on the menu (if we could exchange sides, what kind of fish was used in one of the platters) and she had no clue. She said she "thought" the fish was sea bass but she couldn't be sure. She said she would go and ask but after waiting on her for 10 minutes, we just decided to order. I decided on the "Mixed Grill 8 Grande Shrimp and Fish Fillets". It came with some sort of fish (I never found out) and 8 grilled shrimp on skewers. The fish was slimy, semi-cold and was super fishy. It tasted like the cheap white fish you can order at Long John Silvers or Baytown Seafood. The shrimps were actually tasty and honestly the sole reason for the two stars. My friend ordered a platter with a stuffed crab, fried shrimp and fried fish of some sort. It came with a side of "toasted buns" which are basically buttered and toasted Hawaiian buns that you eat at Thanksgiving. She enjoyed her food. I was also dismayed to find that they do not offer hush-puppies which is one of my favorite seafood accompaniments. The sides part of the menu was lacking in choice. A side salad, toasted buns, rice, fries (which were soggy and tasteless) and steamed vegetables. Just lackluster. I'd love to see more grilled options and an addition of crawfish and hush-puppies. Maybe even some alligator for something rarer. Overall, I'm just really disappointed. It was so loud and crowded that we couldn't have a decent conversation and our waitress had absolutely no idea what she was doing. We ended up waiting another 20 minutes for our check (which was not split). The food was bland, there were too few grilled options, they don't offer hush-puppies and it was pricey. Went for lunch and it was packed. Figured it would since it's new. The good: Very cool outdoor area, lots of tables to seat a lot of people. Staff was friendly and very attentive. It was clean and well kept. Bar area with tv's. Out of all the food the fried rice is very recommended! The bad: The food overall was a let down. Did not look like the pictures posted at all. Small plate of calamari which had not much taste to it and wound up tasting a lot like my fried shrimp. In the calamari there was pieces of Fried shrimp so it took away from how much calamari we got. My fried shrimp was so thin it seemed as though they cut them in half and was rubbery. My salad was on the plate with the shrimp, not a huge deal but i like my salad separate from my food. The crackers they bring in the basket where stale. I'll go back because of the outdoor seating area, but I'll be trying something else next time. read more

We visited this Mambo over the weekend with the family and here's my experience: When we arrived, the wait was very short considering it was a Saturday. Stopped at mambos seafood on the way home for work for the first time and wasn't impressed. The gumbo was the worst gumbo I have actually ever had at a restaurant. The Mambo restaurant in houston is much better than this one. My popcorn shrimp was dry and lacked flavor. The riced was rumored to taste amazing, but when I tasted it, it was undercooked and salty. Came in today and overheard an employee down talking me and the people I've came with and it's actually my second time seeing her and receiving some dirty looks, Renee is her name with the blue hair and tattoos and I believe she caught on to the fact that I heard the comment because once I looked at her she stayed away and not once made eye contact again. Once again I came in with friends and sat at the bar with Maygan and Laura and the service was good, I just couldn't look past the audacity of an employee to open her mouth and say the ignorance that came out. I would think that all paying customers would be welcomed considering the fact that that's how business works. I'm 8 and a half months pregnant and also a grown ass woman so the comments she made was truly disgusting and I believe that she doesn't deserve her job for being blatantly ignorant and disrespectful. Tonight myself and a coworker stopped in here to eat and we were greeted with 3 very friendly waitresses right off the bat! They told us to sit anywhere we like so we chose a table and immediate had someone taking our drink and appetizer order. The appetizer arrived very quickly (we had the mambo shrimp, highly recommend! The sauce is amazing) we ordered our food and it too arrived very quickly and it was quite busy so I was very impressed. We were approached by the general manager Aaron while he was making his rounds checking on customers and he was friendly and talked to us for a few minutes and then returned to see how we liked everything after we finished our meal. Welcome to Baytown. A nice edition to the area. We've visited 2 other locations, 1 off 1-10 and 1 in Humble. We tried this location out for the first time today for lunch. To our surprise it wasn't busy--no wait. Wow !! That was a surprise because of its newness. We walked in and were able to sit wherever we liked. Unfortunately, no booths were available. There were not that many in the restaurant. One wall with appx 6 or so booths. Be careful because the floors were extremely slippery. (JUST like Cheddars across the way ) Yikes !! Not sure why restaurants get this kind of tile. Nice atmosphere. Loud festive music. Tables close together. Not much privacy for personal conversations. I would consider this a family style and not a date night restaurant. We waited a bit before anyone asked us for our drink order. We sat right by one of the "order registers," so it was a bit hard to keep overlooking us sitting at a table with nothing on it. Finally, someone came over to ask for our drink order. It wasn't too bad of a wait, but it was very obvious for the staff that kept walking by looking at us, but not stopping. Later, we were asked a couple times if we had been helped. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive to our table. The food was good as usual. Next time we may try something different. The margaritas tasted good, but just like a regular frozen smoothie. No alcohol taste at all. Also, I saw photos garnished with chile, but mine came out without it. My hubby asked the to put some and she obliged. All in all, it was a nice visit. Would visit again. Well this was our first & last visit here. We thought we would try something new. Our waitress was great. She kept our glasses full. She took our orders correctly. No one seemed to know what the catch of the day was, or what does the menu mean when it says to ask about it. Does it mean it's on sale? Or a special? We are eating keto ......keep that in mind.... I ordered a whole red fish $19.99 It tasted ok. No seasonings really.Being keto, I ordered a salad and grilled veggies......my salad came out on or under my hot cooked redfish, it was a bunch of iceberg lettuce, one slice of tomato, and one slice of jicima...i mean seriously? I want my salad cold and crisp not hot, I ordered Ranch dressing.....it was like miracle whip with pickles...sort of a cross with tarter sauce. My "grilled veggies were potatoes, corn, 2 thin slices of zucchini, a huge chunk of green bell pepper and a huge hunk of carrot. So out of all that I could eat the zucchini & pepper if I wanted. Joe ordered two #1's-2 fried fish filets and 6 Grande shrimp. Well if Grande is a small bait shrimp split, and smashed,& so breaded that that's all you tasted.....no seasoning, the fillets of fish were not nice fillets, they were thin 2x2 pieces....he had the same salad served on his hot plate with fried food, same grilled veggies. The corn btw was covered in Mayo and cheese like it is in Mexico. I'm not a fan , I know a lot of people are. We cant eat corn & potatoes anyways on keto. The drinks there are awesome because they have a machine that gives you tons of choices, like adfing cherry to diet Rootbeer, or diet gingerale, or coke zero....so so many drink choices, sodas, flavored waters, ect. The staff were friendly, place was very clean. Didn't smell fishy even for a seafood restaraunt. Overall not my cup of tea. read more
