By far my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. When you eat here you are transported to the Caribbean instantly. There is a twist though: a Peruvian one. They offer amazing Peruvian dishes for dinner and a few are also available for lunch. If you get a chance try the ceviche and if you feel adventurous try the "tiradito". I Love the place went there for the second time with my buddy Gino just for beers and after getting greeted by Naya the Bartender we decided to have something to eat , we got some Garlic bread witj this amazing jalapeno salsa verde then the Empanadas with carne molida and the Calamari with the Yuca and the onion pico the gallo an some kind of mayonaise tartar sauce everything was delicious the service oustanding , Naya was delightful and on point drank myself three glasses 22 z of blue moon couldnt have anymore cause it was closing time but I am sure I will come back earlier to try some of the other great dishes I saw on the manu and to have some good beers o try Naya's skill on a good spirit. Large cuts of premium seafood and soup stock sets these dish apart from any restaurant OTP. The Midnight sandwich is authentic and probably the best sandwich I've had in 10+ yrs, not kidding. What a gem in Alpharetta. We ordered takeout. We had classic Cuban dishes of Vaca Frita, Lechón and Ropa Vieja. All these were served with white rice, black beans and sweet plantains. In a word: DELICIOUS! If you come you have to order the Mariquitas. Thin strips of green plantains, fried and accompanied with a garlicky dip. Please be advised that the place is a little tricky to find as the GPS leaves you closer to the LOWES but once you find the way from there to the next strip mall there it is. Staff is super friendly. My boyfriend and I went here for our date night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves . If you are a seafood lover this place will be like heaven . The food is good and the staff is great . I think they may have been a little understaffed the night we came in but they made the best of it and still delivered our food in a timely manner . Also in the weekends they have live singing . I took away one star simply because it's not advertised as a heavy seafood place but a lot of the menu is in fact seafood. Best Peruvian cuisine!! My husband and I go there for our date night once a month and I tell you, they never disappoint! The staff are always very friendly and helpful. My husband is from Peru so of course that's where we go. Everything always comes out fresh and delicious. Big portions as well. My favorite is the ceviche. Also must try the Lomo saltodo. We came here with a large group of friends. It was very busy on a Saturday night and luckily had reservations. We were seated in a semi-private area and that helped shield us from the loud restaurant. There was a band playing hits from the 90s in the bar. We ordered the crispy plantain chips as an appetizer. They were indeed crispy and slightly salty but boring. But the real star of the meal was the paella. We ordered the seafood paella for 2. It takes about 30 minutes to prepare and it is absolutely worth the wait. When the waiter brought it to the table, the whole group gasped because it really does take your breath away! It was served in a large, traditional paella pan. It could easily feed 3-4 people. I loved the flavor of the rice mixed with the different seafood and veggies. The rice could have been a little more crispy around the edges but other than that it was very good. The menu is extensive, so it's easy to find something that you will enjoy. Grumpy owner with no people skills! The staff and food here are good for the price, but yesterday I came in to order a salad and soup to-go, and wanted to change my salad choice about 2 minutes after placing my order. Well, the owner (not sure if it was really Luciano himself, but he claimed to be the owner) came out and tried to muscle me into buying the original salad because his cook already made it (it was a chicken salad, so he microwaved the chicken?). I asked him why he was trying to give me a hard time , and he flipped out and told me to never return because he knows customer service and he's the owner. I would have bought it if he just let his waitresses/waiters take care of business, because he obviously doesn't have this skill. read more

The food is delicious. There is no question about that. My parents have loved this restaurant for several years and we stopped in to have lunch last weekend. All seemed fine when we got there. The hostess sat us wearing a mask, there was hand sanitizer at the hostess stand, and our server was wearing a mask. Unfortunately patrons are not required to wear masks and so multiple patrons walked in, walked out, walked to the restroom all not wearing a mask. One table came in with no masks and hugged and shook the hand of their server (the server seemed delighted, which tells me they just don't take this seriously). The owner walked to tables to deliver food with a mask under his nose. When we left the hostess was at the stand with no mask and only when she saw us and we said goodbye did she put her mask on. It's just very clear they don't think this is serious or take the health of their customers seriously. Everyone is perfectly nice and the food really is delicious but if you are remotely concerned with getting sick just get takeout, going inside for any length of time isn't worth it. read more

Very impressed with the "new and improved" version of Mambo's. They recently relocated from their Haynes Bridge location some 2 weeks ago to a larger, well designed, open property on the corner of Hwy 9 and Windward Parkway in an outparcel attached to the Lowes shopping complex. Place was absolutely packed during lunch today, yet we were seated in a matter or minutes and food came out in less than 5 minutes after we ordered it. Service was top notch, courteous, and very attentive. Mambo's offers a well portioned sub $10 lunch menu of both their classic fare and sandwiches. Traditional beef, pork, and seafood dishes all prepared quite well. The normal dinner menu is also quite affordable around $15. There is a full bar in the corner and tvs are discretely hung throughout the restaurant. Nice to have a solid Cuban option back on Windward! read more

At best, probably 3.5 stars for the generous portions of food. The one thing that caught my eye about this place was the paella on the menu. Plus, I thought I had heard lots of good things about this place but turns out, I got it confused with Mambo Jambo Cafe (another latino food place) down the street. Oops. Nevertheless, still good to try out a new place on the Windward Parkway stretch. Semi busy on a Friday night, service was great. Comfortable booths AND the solo musician Troy Cono was pretty awesome. Early in the evening, his business card was passed out with a QR code so you can make requests with your smartphone or visit his website on the phone and submit a request. He did an awesome cover of Fastball's "The Way." On to the food though, we ordered the paella for two early and decided to go with the huge sampler appetizer which had a variety of things to munch while waiting for paella (which does take at leas 30 minutes). This plate was full of crispy plaintain chips which were thankfully not too salty. There were also two kinds of croquettes - the round one had some kind of meat inside and the long ones had ham/cheese from what I could taste. The interesting thing about these croquettes is that the potato parts were very smooth. I could taste that it had been well blended. I kinda would have preferred more potato chunks to it so there's more of a bite to it, but they were well-made. I should also mention that they do have a bread basket of garlic bread and some kind of green sauce. That sauce was really good - it's a little spicy and I think there might have been some avocado in it to make it so smooth like a watered down spicy guac. The paella came and there's a ton of meats in it: chicken, fish, shrimp, sausage, clams, and mussels. Chicken bits were a teeny bit tough but the fish was cooked just right that it was soft. Clams were good too, but the rice? Meh. We were hoping for it to be cooked enough on the stove/oven that the rice would have a crusty crunch especially when stuck to the pan. Pretty good flavor though - it seemed tomato-based and we definitely got a little more tang to it by squeezing lemon on it. Maybe it's because this was Cuban-style and not Spanish-style paella. I probably wouldn't get this again if I came back. We had plenty of leftover paella and the maduros (sweet plantains) on the side. Paella for two could be called paella for three. In fact, I would come back to try the other items on the menu. There are plenty of different meat/steak choices that sounded delicious. They have a pretty extensive menu and the portions are very generous. read more

We were so excited to hear that this place had taken our favorite recipes from Apu Grill in Cumming and brought them 30 minutes closer to home. Sad to say we were pretty dissapointed. We ordered our favorite - pecante camarones. The rice was under cooked to the point of being crunchy, and the shrimp were over cooked to rubber. The yellow sauce, the source of so much delight at Apu Grill, was underwhelming. Needless to say, we will hold off and stick to driving to Cumming when the mood strikes. It wasn't crowded on an early Tuesday evening so naturally our food came super fast and the drinks were amazing (mojitos are the best I've ever tried and I rarely get those things). Great Cuban food. The Shrimp enchiladas is a staple for me. If you want something light they have a grouper in lemon butter sauce that is really good. you can get it in tilapia as well. Decided to try this Peruvian Cuban restaurant and were very happy we did! The meal started with warm bread with a jalapeño sauce. My son loves jalapeños and absolutely loved the sauce. My husband and I ordered to-go the chicken saltado, lomo saltado, ceviche mixto, and yucca con huancaina a couple of days ago. My husband is peruvian and I'm ecuadorian, and we were both very pleased with our dishes...all very flavorful and delicious. We had very high expectations, and we were NOT disappointed. When we go to Hispanic restaurants, one of the observations we make to measure whether it is good is if we see many Hispanics dining inside the restaurant. When we picked up our order, we saw mostly Hispanics dining in there so we knew that we wouldn't be disappointed. We can't speak to the cuban dishes because we didn't order any, but we were very happy with the maduros fritos that came with our entrees. I went to Mambo's for a quick bite and pretty satisfied with my experience. A fairly new addition to the Alpharetta restaurant scene, Mambo's deserves high praise for their food, service and decor. I ordered the mariquitas (thinly sliced plantains cooked until crisp, served with mojo sauce), tres leches cake, mango juice and a mojito. First of all, the drinks were incredible.
