A dinner at Mammoth Tavern is a must when visiting. It's practically a family tradition at this point. We come for the fondue, drinks and views. My personal favorite cocktail is the Butterfly Kiss featured in this review and the food it's always delicious. I have yet to see this restaurant without a wait or busy, but all of that is worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're in the area and would like a delicious meal and love a great ambiance, come to Mammoth Tavern.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The service was okay, the food took a little longer than expected and the drinks got forgotten, or left at the bar for long periods of time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The lighting was very calming, had a very warm cozy vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Cesar salad with the add on of shrimp was so refreshing. The fondue was delicious was a perfect appetizer for a party of 4 probably 6 max. Rounding it up the chocolate mousse was ok reminded me of chocolate pudding from elementary school, the key lime pie was to die for it was truly the reason to go back it hit the spot 10/10! Overall I give this place a 7/10

Came here for after dinner drinks since the bowling alley was closed for a private event. The Christmas decor inside was so cute and and festive which I loved. The server we had at the bar was great as well. They had a lot of interesting cocktails and pretty much a drink for anyone. I got a gin drink that had banana flavoring which I wish was more intense but wasn't bad. My bf for a bourbon drink that had a nice sweet finish. We also ordered the salted caramel ice cream which was good. Would def come back :)

The French onion soup is a must! This place is a gem, it get really busy on the weekends so I recommend making a reservation. They have the best staff, very attentive and friendly. I got the chicken sandwich, super good. And they have an excellent beer selection. We will be back!

Went with friends for dinner and we've been many times and loved it. Last night was no exception except our appetizer took longer to arrive and food was a little cold. (4) Not sure what the issue was but the food was still tasty but I would have preferred it hot. Love my favorite drink which is not on the menu, butterfly kiss. So pretty and tasty. Many tvs around to catch all sports and a full bar will keep you happy! Happy hour menu is great (4:30-5:30) and includes food from the full menu. Great deal! Enjoy!!

AWESOME food! We went twice in one week and between the five of us we tried almost everything on the menu: oysters, ribs, spinach dip, pretzel, onion soup, burger, chicken sandwich, wrap, Cesar salad, macaroni and cheese, etc. Everything was absolutely delicious! Service was solid--we enjoyed our waiter Jesse and wish I could remember our female server's name, as she was excellent as well. She was helping with hostess duties too! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Only downside is the restaurant is far too small to accommodate how popular they are.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They don't accept reservations so we waited more than an hour on a Friday night. Ugh. And unlike other places, they don't text when your table is ready--you must wait in the vicinity and be there when they call your name. Bummer. We will definitely return but will try to avoid a weekend night.

I recommend only if you like hair in your food. Specially blended in with the meat of your burger or sandwich.

They either burn the meat or serve it raw. I should have just ordered the grilled cheese with a side of hair to be completely honest.

I can't believe all of these 1 and 2 star reviews. We have been to shelter at least 9 times over…read morethe last 3 years and been very happy with each visit. The drinks are expensive but always top shelf. The food has improved immensely over the last two years both in options and quality. Yes you have to find your own seat (we have had to give up and eat elsewhere on a couple of occasions). Yes you have to get your own water. You can order food and drinks from the cashier but we find it much easier and more convenient to order from our phones--thus avoiding the line, getting our food much quicker and able to leave when we want without trying to find a waiter. Yes the phone order system encourages a tip before you even see the efficiency of the service (I'm not a fan of this but the pluses far out way this negative). Other than a sushi bar, where else can you order items 6 times in a night and have each item brought out in 5-10 minutes--no cold food--no over crowded table--no ordering too much or too little. The app will even tell you when your drink or food is ready in case the server is late with the delivery (not a problem in our experiences). Their system is their system and if you don't like it, then shelter is not for you. There are plenty of sit down traditional table service options in mammoth but I recommend getting a reservation. The food: Excellent: artichoke dip, tempura shrimp (?not on menu anymore), beet salad (enough for 4 to share), burger, seared ahi (very large portion), poke tostada, pretzel; Very Good: Fish Taco, philly taco, sweet potato taco, shishito peppers; Fair: shrimp taco, ckn taco. Poor: volcano roll (too much rice and "fishy scallops), spicy tuna hand roll (consistency of the spicy tuna was mush). Drinks: our favs are the old fashioned, whiskey sour and the margarita we will be back, please don't change!

The name Shelter evokes a warm, welcoming space. You've come home. Well, change your expectations…read morehere. It's the least personal space besides Taco Bell that I've been to. Like Taco Bell, you pay in advance. Unlike Taco Bell, you are expected to leave a tip (for service), before you realize you will receive no service. Choose your own seating, call up the QR code (which asks you to enter your phone number, but you can work around that) and then gives you a sterile list for a menu. It's a distillery, but do not talk to the bartender. Order a margarita from the (surprisingly inexpensive) Taco Tuesday menu and it comes with a hard, dried citrus something floating on top that adds nothing to the experience of the drink (but does eliminate the need for the bartender to keep a fresh supply of citrus on hand). Otherwise, the margarita tastes OK. Not great. Your beet salad will not be "dressed" because that would take effort. Instead the dressing will be drizzled across the top and not even really touch the greens. Your burger will probably be tasty, as my husband's was. Your sweet potato taco will probably have too many raw onions across the top but otherwise be tasty as mine was. You will not interact with anyone other than your table companions. Even with his tasty burger, my husband called it a "soulless experience." Because the food itself seems to be decently cooked (though with minimal effort), this may be your spot if you are good with Taco Bell.

I called and inquired about a few things and when we arrived, we were told a different story. Long story short, use OpenTable to make your reservations and avoid the headache. Outside Pods- If you're interested in sitting in the pods outside, it's an additional $50-100 (depending on the day) and can fit 6-8 people. We had several kids in our party and they enjoyed the novelty of it. Our waiter Cam was great and made up for the poor service with the host. He had great recommendations as all were spot on. Cam recommended "family style" as many of the entrees are large and it gives you a chance to sample everything. We started with the asparagus summer rolls and tricolore salad. Both were delicious and refreshing. For the entrees we shared the cacio e pepe, margherita pizza, orechiette nero and chicken parmesan. Again, everything was excellent. For dessert, the gelato comes with three huge scoops along with three zeppoles (Italian donuts). The food was excellent and probably one of my new favorites in Mammoth.

They're on a reservation only policy at the moment and they told me I couldn't place an order to go after 6pm. The food is good. Their policies are unreasonable. If you're up here for a last minute trip I would recommended a different place there are better restaurants that are more accommodating. The only thing this place has going for it is the location. No other business does this on Reddit. First, service is very slow and pretty haughty. I had to wait 30 minutes for a simple pesto chicken crepe. It tasted disgusting. I got the apple dessert crepe. It was full of little cubes of raw apple that just fell out of the crepe. There was barely any cinnamon or sugar in it. I also got the pesto crepe. There was a splash of pesto and a couple little pieces of chicken. 90% of the crepe is the bread or galette or whatever. The rest (which isn't much) is just thrown in there. At $16 each, this was a complete ripoff, even worse than the usual Mammoth ripoff. The ambiance is pretty good though and they have a nice wine bar area. I could see this place being good for breakfast, but it's not worth spending any more of my money there.
