Booked a reservation for my husband to celebrate Fathers Day. Every single dish was amazing! The starter bread was delicious! We had the mushroom crepe, a corn soup, salmon, ny steak, raspberry panda cotta, trio chocolate dessert. We LOVED it all! We are already planning to come in the near future!

By far the best restaurant in Mammoth. Excellent service, top notch food, small intimate setting with about 12 tables. Prices really aren't much higher than places in the village. Well worth the effort of getting a reservation.

This was one of the best restaurants we've been to in California. Absolutely such a cool atmosphere for a ski town, really amazing and thoughtful food, great desert, and a talented chef. Thanks Skadi!

Skadi moved to a new location on Main Street in the relatively new Sierra Emperia hotel. Their venue just off the main lobby is a great improvement over their last location in an industrial park off the town center. Ian, the owner, transferred all their Scandinavian artwork and motifs to create a very airy and inviting restaurant The food continued to be outstanding! Every dish you need to eat slowly to savor, enjoy and appreciate the nuances of the contrasting flavors. The duck and scallops are standouts in the varied and great menu. Service is competent and friendly. Wine service is also excellent with fair prices for the various wines. Don't miss this restaurant while in Mammoth. It is hands down the best! Book well in advance because they sell out just about every night.

Skadi was by far the best fine dining experience we've had in Mammoth so far. Chef Ian was there and even brought out some of our plates and explained everything in detail. The hamachi tartare and lemon panna cotta were standouts. The hand carved wooden butter knives were a lovely touch. The interior was warm and well lit - if it weren't for some noisy neighbors at the next table, it would have been a pretty perfect dinner. We'll be back to try some more adventurous dishes like the smoked deer heart and maybe the duck.

Food is outstanding and service is very good. My favorite Mammoth Lakes restaurant. Only trouble some times is getting a reservation.

The staff were great and quick brought out food and drinks. We tried the iced chai and iced matcha lattes, both delicious and plenty of milk options which is a plus. For the main we tried the avocado toast, sweet crepe with strawberries bananas and Nutella, and the breakfast burrito with added sour cream. Everything was great, glad to have found a great breakfast spot next time we're in Mammoth!

No other business does this on Reddit. First, service is very slow and pretty haughty. I had to wait 30 minutes for a simple pesto chicken crepe. It tasted disgusting. I got the apple dessert crepe. It was full of little cubes of raw apple that just fell out of the crepe. There was barely any cinnamon or sugar in it. I also got the pesto crepe. There was a splash of pesto and a couple little pieces of chicken. 90% of the crepe is the bread or galette or whatever. The rest (which isn't much) is just thrown in there. At $16 each, this was a complete ripoff, even worse than the usual Mammoth ripoff. The ambiance is pretty good though and they have a nice wine bar area. I could see this place being good for breakfast, but it's not worth spending any more of my money there.

CHECK THEIR WEBSITE…read more - Make a reservation ahead of time - Don't bring kids The website prominently advertises that this is an ADULTS ONLY restaurant. It also indicates how to make a RESERVATION, which is highy recommended as this restaurant can get fully booked all night long. Yelp no longer has the "Takes Reservations" indicator, so you wouldn't know unless you visit their website. We unfortunately did not know either information when we decided to eat here, which ended up in a rather disappointing result when we walked in and were turned away from both getting a table the night we walked in right when the restaurant opened, and also from booking a reservation for any future night while we were there. The food looked and smelled good. Maybe we'll be back in 15+ years. NOTE: I initially gave a 3 star review as I view that as a neutral response, but I suppose that may have unfairly dragged down the rating of the restaurant given the few number of reviews on yelp. I do stand by a 4 star review, as I do think it the responsibility of the restaurant to clearly convey their prominent policies. While I do appreciate that the no child policy is prominently displayed on their website, visiting a url before walking into a building is not a common practice. If the restaurant can take the time to post social media photos of their food and logo on yelp, they can also post their prominent restaurant policies. Clear communication is important. We have been to more than a few 18+ venues where no children are allowed (restaurants, bars, rated R movies, speakeasies, comedy clubs), and this policy was clearly communicated at those other venues (e.g., via advertising, via a sign at the front of the venue, via their business card). But, at Ursa, this policy was not made clear to us until after we spoke to the host for a good 10 minutes after entering the restaurant. In her defense, she was apologetically trying to make our night better by suggesting many other alternative restaurants where we could go. But we were not looking for alternative restaurants which were, in our opinion, starkly different restaurants which were not comparable to Ursa. Ursa is unique to the region. We just wanted to know how best to eat at Ursa. Which was--make a reservation ahead of time, don't bring kids.
