While the food we had was perfectly edible, it was fairly expensive for what it was - our neighborhood Thai restaurant has better food for lower prices (and you don't have to serve yourself as you do here). If you want fast-food Thai with drinks or beer, in this neighborhood, Manao Thai is just fine. We had Phad Thai and Phad Se Iew, and both were pretty greasy. Delicious! Came to this place after it was highly recommended by my cousin. Located in/near Capitol Hill area, this place has a few bar seats and 8 tables for dining patrons. We ordered Thai hot wings, phad kee mao, larb, and basil fried rice. Also a Thai iced tea to finish off the meal. We sat down and within a few minutes we received our larb, followed by our other dishes back to back. Talk about amazing service! Never had such a low turnaround time on food after ordering. All the food was delicious. Make sure to eat all the onions and stuff that come with the hot wings. If you like pad see ew, then phad kee mao is a tastier version at least in my opinion. The basil fried rice had a slight smokey flavor that paired well with the wings. SO GOOD! I had been in before a year or two ago and loved it, but just ordered delivery and it was the best delivery or takeout I've had all year. We ordered the phad thai, pineapple fried rice, and fresh rolls. The rolls were crisp and fresh and the dip for it was unique and super tasty. This might be my new favorite thai restaurant on the hill! You order at the counter, they give you a number, you find somewhere to sit and they bring your food out to you. My coworker and I ordered 4 dishes and they all came out within 10-15 minutes. Not bad at all for it being the busy lunch hour. The decor of the restaurant is also very hip and modern and the staff were all very friendly. Now, on to the food! Most of their dishes are not cooked with spice. You are able to use the spice rack/bar to add as much heat as you want. The dishes we tried were: Hot wings: chicken wings tossed in the same seasoning as larb...super tasty Tom Yum: also tasty but a little on the watery side...also i like it better with the spice cooked in Pad prik khing w/ crispy pork belly: my favorite dish! DELICIOUS!!! Basil crispy pork: another yummy way to enjoy the pork belly... I really really like this place. The ambiance is casual but feels very clean (they have order at the counter - my favorite), the food is affordable, the food comes out fast, and the food is delicious. What more could you want? I came here on a snowy Monday to meet a friend. We arrived at 6:30 and there were very few people dining in (which could have been a result of the weather). However, at around 6:45, a 5-8 more people rolled in, and before they got in line, I quickly slid into line to order a spicy noodle soup at the counter, while my friend got the herbal chicken and a papaya salad. The menu, by the way, is enormous, so if you're hungry, it's going to take a while to pick a dish (remember to look on both sides...). We sat down and after around 10 minutes, my noodle soup came out, and five minutes after that, the enormous herbal chicken. Large portions (yipee). We both really enjoyed our dishes (though I myself wish that the noodles in the noodle soup were thicker - I should have asked!) and hung out in the restaurant picking over our food for around 2 hours. No one bothered us or asked us to leave, and I was super happy about the experience. Seems like this is also a really large appetite for to-go orders as the kitchen was banging out bags and bags of orders. I'm definitely coming back here for the days when I want something good at a fair price and where there's no fuss. I highly recommend this place for those days for you, too. read more

I'm so disappointed. I've watched their food quality diminish over the last few months. I'm a regular and always order the same thing. Last night was the last time I order from them. There are too many nearby Thai places with good food at better prices. I ordered the green beans and got a half order, see the pic for reference. I took it after I opened up my order. The chicken Larb salad was half an order also with more than half of the container empty. I always order the fresh rolls. This time they were made with iceberg lettuce instead of green lettuce and were half the normal size. Im usually left with leftovers for a lunch the next day. Kai soi gai was amazing . Pham kee mao was under seasoned. Fresh spring rolls were pretty boring...I like more mint and the tofu was just plain. We had the larb which was delicious and it had some pickled carrots and green beans on the side which were also delicious. The huge disappointment was they gave us an eighth of a small cabbage to try and make wraps with which was mostly core and so tiny we couldn't do anything with it but throw it away. I would go back for sure I would get the Lara began but I would also look and see what they gave me to wrap it with because if I had been at the restaurant rather than take out that would not have flown. It was a pretty good portion and seasoned fairly well. The Penang curry was pretty tasty. Unlike other Thai places, they don't ask for your spiceness level. The normal level wasn't too spicy. Since we're in the midst of the stay at home order we ordered pickup over the phone from Manao. The restaurant itself is really cute and reminded me somewhat of outdoor restaurants I visited in Thailand. The woman working was friendly and quick--they've set up an excellent way of maintaining social distancing with customers which I appreciated. The food was so good! We got the fried rolls which were a hit with our two year old as well as us old people. I ordered Pad See Ew and it was so flavorful. My daughter said "it's my favorite food!" while she was eating. They don't ask you to specify spice level and just include seasoning on the side which I don't mind as it makes sharing easier. My husband liked the basil fried rice. We'll be back! read more

The place is a bit on the loud side, I guess that comes from the high ceiling and concrete walls. But the atmosphere is great. The food was what you could expect, a notch better than "random Thai place" but not super-duper. We had the zesty chicken and the herb chicken. Both were really good although the zesty chicken did remind me a lot about Kung Pao chicken from a Chinese street vendor in Camden. Ordered delivery via Caviar and food arrived faster than expected, but that's one of the two highlights for my dinner. I ordered the taro spring rolls, chicken wings, and Penang curry with beef and turmeric rice. Here's the breakdown 1. Taro spring rolls: too many layers of spring roll wrappers making them not as crispy as they should, and the fillings are not mixed well so two of the four spring rolls were filled with only taro, and I can hardly taste any shiitake mushroom as claimed. 2. Chicken wings: wings are cooked well and crispy, but the sauce tasted super weird, almost like it has been fermenting for too long. Not recommended. 3. Penang curry with turmeric rice: best dish of the 3, the curry is pretty well seasoned and the beef is tender and not chewy, yellow rice is very flavorful, but it would be nice to include some steamed veggies with the dish. Overall, food was ok, but not worth the price, I have had Thai food for less money with way better quality in Seattle and Bellevue. Will not try it again. read more

This is a casual spot where you order & pay at the counter, take a seat and wait for some solid Thai dishes come your way. I've never had to wait long at all for food here and it seems like they have a really good operation in their open kitchen begin the counters. While mostly self serve, the service has been great during my experiences. In one instance we ordered an appetizer and then afterwards they regretted to inform us that they just sold out. We were promptly offered a round of Thai iced coffees and a substitute appetizer. It definitely went a long way in showing that they made an effort to have great customer service. The menu has all of the usual suspects (Pad Thai, Curries, etc.) although I have to say that my preferred dish is their Pad See Ew. Great noodle texture, balance of flavors, and certainly a generous portion of food. Highly recommend this if you're looking for a casual restaurant in a hip setting, with solid food at a reasonable that comes out quick. You can't go wrong here. read more

Since moving to the Capitol Hill neighborhood this has become our "go to" Thai food restaurant. Their menu boasts many flavorful dishes and has never disappointed across our multiple visits. The restaurant has limited seating (indoor and outdoor), we typically get take out. If you're dining in, you order your food first and then they'll bring it to you (it's not really a sit down dining experience). My favorite is the Pad Thai, but have also enjoyed the Pad See Ew and a few of their curries. Overall, nothing fancy, just really tasty Thai food. This place is so yum. Came here with our neighbors (they come here at lest once a week) and I can totally see why. They have the go-tos, pad Thai, the curries, the spring rolls, rice dishes, etc. They have vegetarian and gluten free options as well. And, if you struggle with how spicy you should order your meal, they have a supply of different types of peppers for you to choose from so you have control of your spice. We had the panang curry and pad Thai as our staple. This place is quick, friendly, and tasty. If you see a line, it's for the register since you order, pay then sit. Your food comes shortly after. We came here for lunch over the weekend to meet up with my best friend and her husband. They have a nice system going with menus at the counter. You sit yourself and order at the counter, silverware is already at the counter but also can be self served. We ordered the pork belly dippers, herbal crispy chicken, and pad see ew with chicken. The pork belly dippers were too crispy for our liking but I can imagine that they would be good if not that crispy and hard. Pad see ew was very tasty and saucy. The herbal crispy chicken was also good. I could taste a slight hint of lemon grass but for the most part it tasted like sweet and sour chicken to me. I also had the Thai iced tea that came in a large mason jar. I have to say that their service was exceptional. At the end of our visit the waitress asked if we wanted a box for our pork belly since we left it all on our dish. We said no thanks, it was too crispy and hard. She apologized and offered us our money back for that dish but we said no thanks. After she insisted a few times and us refusing she came back with a Thai iced tea in a to go cup for us!
