Very disappointing experience, especially for the caliber of this restaurant. We were seated at a booth near the bar (at my request) and absolutely no waitress ever came to our table. After waiting 20 minutes with no one checking on us, not even bringing water or menus we had to leave. For a restaurant at this price point, this level of service is completely unacceptable. Mancy's Bluewater Grille is a consistently nice experience and I trust that it will be a popular choice for my business lunches. It's beautiful inside, the servers and staff are attentive and helpful, and the food is always very good. For example, my client ordered the Blackened Shrimp Alfredo and the shrimp were carefully placed to be standing up in a circle which was so much more attractive than if they were simply laying in the pasta and sauce. Shockingly bad experience last night, especially after my numerous visits to Mancy's restaurants. We asked for a wine list which took over 10 minutes to receive. I was disappointed in the lack of European wines but found an Italian on the last bottle list. It was $150 but I was desperate. Unfortunately, our server didn't come back for 15 min to take our order and then when she finally delivered it, she broke the cork because she didn't screw down far enough. Alcohol is a big money maker yet we sat for 40 minutes before it was poured. The food was the main problem. Not only a super slow kitchen but it was then served refrigerator cold. Everything. Fish, steak, green beans, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, even the plate was frigid. So we sent it back and instead of preparing a new plate, they tried to just warm it and brought it back cold..again. This was a $75 plate of food. At this point, we were concerned about food safety and said to just forget it. Luckily we had bread with our wine but they never offered anything else other than not charging us for the food which we didn't even touch. This was two hours after our arrival so went home hungry after paying for the wine. To top it off, there was a loud, raging fight in the bar area that we heard across the restaurant so we waited until they had left, concerned about a physical altercation. Big space with dim lighting. This was my first time here and our server was very nice. Gave me the background of the restaurants. I started with the tequila old fashioned. Never seen that and it was very good. Refreshing. Would recommend. We got oysters and they were a good size. Cleaned well and tasty. For dinner I got the halibut. I was part of the clean plate club. I thought the ambiance was a B+ They do a good job trying to make things cozy and intimate. Just a tad rushed. I think it's nicer to bring the entree after I'm done eating my salad not during. There was a hiccup with communication concerning my South African lobster tail. I wanted the entree just not two tails. So she had to bring my potatoes 5-10 mins after I got my lonely tail. I must say the tail was done better than anyplace ever. It's steamed. Perfectly cooked. The meat was sweet. We took home the flourless chocolate cake to eat during our movie afterwards at home and it was fantastic. I would definitely go back. This was our first nice dinner out with our little one so we asked to be seated in a corner. The bread was devine and our Caesar salad was so good. Mancy's Bluewater Grille (yes, not Grill) is an embarrassing addition to the Mancy mini-empire: Mancy's Steakhouse (the mother ship) and Mancy's Italian. Leaving aside the poor orthography, the food isn't much better than poor. But first the good things: the room is handsome in a stony, woody way. Neither nets nor lobster traps are in sight. Our server was personable and patient. Though surprisingly light on white wines, their bottle pricing is fair, even better than fair. The food pricing is on the high side, though mostly not at the laughable "are they kidding?" level. Though our server was personable and patient, the food just wasn't very good. The calamari appetizer must've had calamari somewhere, but it was neither seen nor tasted. What there was, was a dish of admirably crispy interestingly-shaped fried breading with something (I guess) inside. After that, things really went downhill. Both main dishes--black cod and crab cakes--took forever to prepare; I sensed that our server shared our impatience and wonderment about why, on an evening when the restaurant was almost empty, our dinners took about 40 minutes to prepare. When the dinners arrived, they were well-cooked and hot, but both were much too salty. The flavor of salt should be subtle, near silent. Ours yelled SALT! The dishes were like salt with a side of black cod or crab cakes. Not inedible but bad. Our server was sympathetic. The desert list offered little solace, featuring the usual unimaginative banalities: crème brulee, cheesecake, key lime pie, flourless chocolate cake, bread pudding. One small concession: chocolate mousse was absent. We know Mancy's steak house and so expected more of a fine dining, white tablecloth dinner. However, what we got was not even upscale mediocrity at a near fine dining tab. read more

After several rather disappointing visits and having loved this restaurant we decided to visit again. We had a gift certificate and I am so glad that we made this decision. While not perfect, redemption is so sweet! I was a week ago, last Sunday. We were returning from a play at the Croswell and it was not too busy. We were celebrating our anniversary but did not announce this. It was a pleasant day and I chose the Bluewater for its ambiance and the fact that we both love seafood. I ordered red french for my salad. I usually order their blue cheese dressing which is wonderful. This had horseradish in it. Lots. Our server seemed surprised but never reported back. She may have been a bit newer as well. One example was that our entree came very quickly, as we were taking our last bite of salad. Minor complaints but these detract from a 5 star rating. But let me continue. The bread, always a plus. Fresh, hot, delicious! The panko crusted Halibut, mine on Mashed, hers with roasted potato both topped with a shallot beurre blanc. Perfection! We carried home dessert which was enjoyed later. So worth returning and reminding us of why we have enjoyed the Bluewater for years. Whatever changes were made in the kitchen were worth waiting for. We decided to go out for dinner for New Year's Eve a couple days prior. I thought my search wasn't going to bear any fruit, and I went through an app to make a reservation for us at Bluewater Grille. They had nothing available - ugh! My gf had previously had dinner here with a friend and told me how much she enjoyed it. I have never been to Bluewater, so I thought this experience together would be a great way to "ring in the new year". I called the restaurant just to see if there was any way I could schmooze someone in to getting a reservation. No schmoozing required, I made a reservation. Yay! Our reservation was set for 7:30pm and we had options from a chef's choice menu of a salad, starter (appetizer), main course, and a side if your main course allowed for one. There were a few drinks to choose from on the chef's choice menu and of course, dessert was also made available to cap off a wonderful meal. Our server (Meagan) was absolutely wonderful in making suggestions based on our likes as well as providing us with her engaging personality. The food was excellent and our experience was made even better by our server, Meagan. I had requested a booth when I made the reservation and we were seated in the bar with about the only perfect view of the televisions, so we were able to catch parts of both the Big 10 teams represented in the college football playoffs. Unfortunately, neither Ohio State or Michigan will be moving on. I am a huge college football fan, so being able to catch bits and pieces of both games during our dining experience at Bluewater Grille was a bonus. As mentioned previously, the fixed menu selections were many viable options making it a difficult choice for an entree. The food was very good, the ambiance was just right and not very loud with a few fan outbursts during the games, and I hope Bluewater Grille knows and appreciates the value of stellar employees like our server, Megan. What a great way to bring 2022 toa close and look forward to the new chapter in 2023. read more

I met a friend here for a laid-back dinner on a Monday evening. The ambiance is very pleasant and classy upon entering, including the exterior door pulls/handles- unique. First impression is that it is a classy subdued restaurant with dim lighting and lots of comfortable private booths in addition to table seating. Our server was very professional and unobtrusive as she observed that we were catching up and not immediately ready to order. Nevertheless she would pass by our booth so we could request a drink and to order food when we were ready. She epitomized sophistication while maintaining approachability. We both ordered scallops meals. Mine came with risotto and asparagus while my friend's order included leek mashed potatoes with green beans. We were both happy with our meals. My scallops were a bit cooler (not hot), but nothing to send back. The quality of the scallops was very good... four large scallops with four stalks of asparagus and a scoop of mushroom risotto in the middle. The mushroom risotto honestly did not have any taste of mushroom flavoring but was okay. Asparagus was nicely done. We also received bread with our meal, which was phenomenal, flavorful and softly chewy. Overall, I enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant and the scallops were delicious but would have been even better if served hot. Prices are on the higher side, with the scallops entrees both priced at $43. A nice treat to catch up with my friend in a comfortable upscale environment. Stopped in for a celebration. As always, service was very good. My wife had their scallops with lobster risotto and asparagus while I had the sea bass with leek mashed potatoes and string beans. I also had the lobster bisque. The bisque was excellent with a little spice and not that heavy floury flavor of most bisque. My sea bass was amazing as I did the simply seared option. Highly recommended. The scallops were good along with the risotto but our food came out quickly before we had finished out soup and salad so it was cool when we ate it. Drinks were awesome with an excellent selection available. Creme Brulee was amazing...wow! Expensive but would go back for sure. read more

This is our second Anniversary that we have spent here and I will say the food and service does not disappoint. I will say I found out today that they have wheat in their risotto which is disappointing as it isn't needed and makes it not GF, luckily I was a able to get an amazing dish regardless. Though I urge the management to take the wheat out of the risotto dish. Still my BBQ Sea Bass was amazing in flavor and texture. We drive here from MI and it's worth the drive for special occasions. I am a huge fan of the Mancy's family of restaurants. I love how they are able to provide such distinctly different experiences, menus and atmosphere, all while consistently offering some of the best service in the region. Bluewater Grille is lower on our list of Mancy's favorites, mostly due to the location and... the atmosphere. It's weirdly dated as far as contemporary goes, with an intensely opulent suburban feel that could use a serious refresh. We almost never find ourselves in Maumee, let alone Arrowhead Park, so it's completely off our radar, but I totally understand why it's constantly busy. They play it almost too safe with a very predictable menu, serve quality food and wine, and for the area it's honestly one of your best choices. If it aint broke, don't fix it, they say. And with that in mind, I suspect this spot will remain a 2005 time capsule for many years to come. read more

Came here with the family for my birthday dinner. Server was great. Ambiance was great. Noise level was low. Food was so-so, especially for the price. Here's a rundown. I had the Oscar Tournado. House salad with house dressing and rolls were very good. The main dish was a very small piece of filet cooked medium as ordered, but a little tough. Bearnaise sauce was good. Entree came with 2 pieces of asparagus, which were a little tough, and fried onions. My moscato wine was very good. Husband had cod and chips. All were a nice light golden brown, but he said the fish was a little under done. He had key lime pie for dessert, and said it was nothing special. Grandson had the maple bourbon salmon. No comments from him. Son, daughter-in-law and grand daughter each had the 6 oz filet. They all ordered medium and all came out medium rare (at best). Sent them back and they were cooked better. However all three commented that the quality of the beef was not as expected - especially for the over $40 price. Two of them split the flourless chocolate cake and said it was very good. With tip the tab for the six of us was just under $400. (Remember, I was the only one to have anything off the liquor menu.) So all in all a "so-so" rating. We've been going to one or another of the Mancy establishments for 55+ years, including dates, birthday dinners, a number of business dinners, a wedding rehearsal dinner and a large 70th birthday dinner for my husband. This is the first time I've been disappointed. read more

Hate to do this because they used to be one of my favorites. But I can't bring myself to give them more than 3.5 stars. I've had so many great dinners at MBG. I'm a huge fan of delmonico steaks, and it was great for me because my wife is more of a seafood person. The steakhouse has more steak options, but less seafood so having the Grille near where I live has been great. That was until their consistency started to fluctuate. And I don't think I can blame it on COVID-19 either, since I'm pretty sure this has been the case even before the pandemic. The issue isn't that their food and services are not great during "on" days. They *can* be and *have* been great plenty of times before. But during those "off" days, they can be just awful. Servers may not know the details on their specials for the day, or even be attentive. Steak could be undercooked or just flat out salty. With so many good things to say about the place, it's a damned shame I have to write this mediocre review today. I *REALLY* hope they can bring their schitt together and bring their standards back up. When I've had a few consecutive excellent visit, I'd love to come back and update my review. But until then, all they'll get from me is an inconsistent 3 mediocracy stars. read more

I have been to the original Mandy's steakhouse on Toledo and loved it, so I was eager to try this location during a recent trip through Toledo. I was impressed. It is a beautiful decor. Plenty of space so you don't feel crowded. Great for dates or business dinners. The steaks were excellent and cooked to perfection. Service was terrific. Nice seafood selection, but honestly, I didn't want seafood this particular night, so I can't comment on that. Definitely will return. read more

The lighting is so dim, you could see everyone using their phone flashlights just to see the menu. Of course, drinks are way overpriced, so we opted out of cocktails. It took our server 10-15 minutes to get back to us to take our order. (In the meantime, another couple got up and left before they ordered since their server was awol also). For a seafood place, the menu choices are very limited, especially when one of them is $122 lobster. My shrimp Alfredo was absolutely inedible. The shrimp was OK, but the sauce on the pasta was so heavy and thick, it was like eating gummy soup. I couldn't even make out the individual strings of pasta because of the gummy sauce. So I just ate the shrimp and left the pasta. Very expensive 4-shrimp dinner (no sides included, not even a roll). Hubby's steak and potato was fine. Funny, at a seafood place, he definitely got the better dinner. Overall, too dark, too slow, too expensive, and hit-or-miss on a good meal. read more

Such a good upscale restaurant. We go here fairly often, the menu changes from time to time which is great if you love trying new things. Charcuterie board is good and changed pretty often. The portions are generous. Love their filet, always cooked perfectly. Each table has their own little oil candle, the ambiance is great for a date night as the restaurant is usually a bit dark but still well lit. After a weekend in Biloxi, we flew back in to Cleveland and hit this place on our way back to Michigan. This was probably the best meal I had all weekend. Started with a Berries and Bubbles specialty drink. DANGEROUSLY good! Strong bourbon list and our server was very forthright that some of the more unique items could be out of stock. She suggested a sphere, vanilla infused ice cube that my husband passed on. We got a basket of bread and the caesar salad that came with the entree. My delmonico steak was a chef specialty came with a giant baked potato and crispy onion and I got the blue cheese sauce on the side. It was heavenly. I almost went with just a soup and salad but I am so glad I didn't. My husband got the sea bass; he said the combination of bbq sauce and the sea bass was different but still really good. Our 4 day streak of desserts stopped the night before so I cannot speak to that selection but I was perfectly stuffed with a nice hunk of meat left to eat with eggs in the morning. In the two days since dining there, I already mentioned it to friends in Ohio. An hour from home, I would absolutely make the drive. read more

We were passing through Town on a Trip and stopped for Dinner. Seated promptly and our Order was taken for Drinks and an Appetizer which arrived promptly. We finished our starters and waited for our Entrees to arrive which took an extremely long time. Restaurant was not busy with multiple open tables and we waited 25 minutes after our Appetizers were finished to get our Food. Manager stopped by to see how everything was and I told Her about the extreme wait and She said they got "Slammed at 6:00". Funny that's about when we got there and there were still open Tables and Booths. An apology was all we were given and a couple excuses. Didn't even offer a free Dessert or Drink for the inconvenience. They are trying to pull off the Fine Dining experience with the pricing to match and they are missing the mark.
