    Outside The Mandrin

We tried one of our old favorites now under new management. Our waiter, Ivan was very sweet and courteous. The portions were large and delicious. We had an old favor and a brand new chef special. It was awesome. We're definitely going back..

No customers really inside but the lady that owns the place is very nice. when you walk in you may say hmmm... nobody, don't let that fool you. Actually a nice place. Seemed to be clean but did that a table sat unclean while I ate my meal. I was the only person there so they could have cleaned it. Meal on the menu did not seem expensive but when I got the bill $28 for the special and order of egg rolls, hmmm... I must say though this is one of the cleaner looking establishments. Staff was friendly and told me they do sell things like egg rolls in bulk. The food was okay. I think maybe change the rice. I had fried rice and it was bland. Pork egg rolls had very little pork. But the service will bring you back I say visit as you will like the place.

The food and service is amazing. Fresh and hot. The egg rolls are made fresh and delicious egg drop soup. This is a place to come and have some great food!

You know there are some places you just love going to when dinner at home is not and option and you are craving something scrumptious... well, Mandarin does it for me. Before I get into my review, let me tell you that the 1 star ratings Mandarin has received are absurd and seem to be coming from people who sound like they're idea of good chinese food is Panda Express. Don't pay any attention to them. Do yourself a favor and visit Mandarin. The place is immaculate. Tables are clean and set before you arrive. You can tell the owners (which by the way are the cook and waitress) are whole-heartedly devoted to showing their customers a nice dining experience. The lady is so sweet and personable and the gentleman assists her in bringing your food to your table. Plate presentation is a big deal to me and Mandarin has yet to fail. I live 2 minutes away and so I try really hard not to go too often because I don't want to tarnish it. They have many different lunch and dinner options. I'd recommended the Kung Pao Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. FYI- their sriracha is tremendous. I'd recommend bringing a group of friends or family. Come hungry.

First off, we ordered the vegetable egg rolls for an appetizer, I do not recommend them since they are frozen ones. They were tasteless while the interior of these rolls were mushy, though the duck sauce was quite tasty it could not overcome these appetizers. Our entrees came next, my husband asked about the serving size and he was told a plate only fed one person, not true. The plate serves two. Anyway, the Kung Pao Chicken has really good flavor, was spicy and served with a side of steamed white rice. My husband's entree was Orange Chicken and nothing spectacular about it. But what will keep us from ever going back was that as we sat in the restaurant eating I started to smell cigarette smoke. It became more pronounced and I realized they were smoking in the kitchen and had the door open to where we were sitting. With that revelation my husband quickly got us out of there...the cigarette smoking inside the kitchen is a total dealbreaker.

The food was promised in 8 to 10 minutes and was ready easily in that time. I ordered Crab Rangoon, a favorite of my wife, and pork fried noodles. The Crab Rangoon is some of the best in Albuquerque. I could actually taste the crab. Most I've had here just taste of cream cheese, so whatever they do at YNH, they should continue! The pork fried noodles, on the other hand, were nothing special. The dish tasted of Chinese Five Spice which includes clove and is not a favorite flavor for me. My wife didn't mind so much, so this is certainly a personal issue. Add a star if you are ok with the seasoning. We will certainly be back for the Rangoon and to try other menu options.

The wait staff was nice to give us another one cuz we sent it back, but it came back again with the same smell so we were worried but it tasted fine and we didn't get sick hahahaha. Wouldn't order it again tho because of the smell. steam chicken feet 5/5: nicely steamed with a spicy kick. steamed egg yolk bun 4/5: this is the main reason we come here! love the topping on the bun and the flavors of the steamed egg yolk.
