My cousin and I were visiting Santa Monica for a week. We ordered from this restaurant 3 DAYS IN A ROW! The food WAS SOO GOOD that we had to come back. The customer service was incredible as well. We were greeted with the upmost kindness! We felt right at home. We ordered the sesame chicken, lo mein, and shrimp shumai, and crab rangoon. & got exactly that everytime. BEST SESAME CHICKEN I EVER HADDDD!

This restaurant is close to our place and has become a go-to when we want inexpensive and quick Chinese. It's not premium quality, but not bad and the price can't be beat.

Mandarin Chinese & Japanese was really nice low key spot on pico. The people inside were really nice and patient and did a good job of recommending some things. It gave off an authentic Chinese restaurant except you can't eat in. The orange crispy shrimp was really awesome the sauce and texture was amazing. It gave off an orange chicken feel but it was shrimp and I enjoyed it a lot. Would definitely recommend. The sweet and sour chicken was good but it definitely could have been seasoned a bit more. The sauce does a good job at carrying the meal itself. The Cream cheese wontons are always great every where they same applies here really solid. /5

I was actually quite impressed by this place. It's a very unassuming place located off of Pico in Santa Monica. It's located near a donut shop and laundromat. If I ever have another craving for Chinese food, this will be my pick! Here's the rundown: Park: ample Service: very friendly and quick Price: slightly cheaper than what I've seen; however, be aware that no entrees come with rice. You have to purchase rice separately but we ordered a large for $1.95 to share Taste: very good! I was also impressed they didn't skimp on the protein! We got a good amount of protein and vegetables! Also nothing was greasy.

I had a very late night craving for some Chinese food and found this family business on Yelp! They were about to close in less than 30 minutes but were super kind to take our order for pick up. Much to our surprise the food was incredibly delicious! I paid for a water which I forgot to grab and this morning no questions asked they told me it was forgotten and I went back to grab it. I ordered the Orange beef, shrimp rice for my friend and a chicken with string beans. Absolutely delicious and so much food! Free parking on the lot.

We are new to the area by way of NYC! My daughter has been missing NYC and so sad we haven't food places that she really likes yet. It's been tough! She dislikes PE and so happy we found this spot! I saw it driving by and thought we could give it a try. It is a take out only place and the service was so friendly. Food was a good salt level and not too oily like most. It took them 10-15 mins to cook up our order. It was tasty and reminded us of that familiar feeling of home (NYC). We ordered: Beef Lomein - we love our noodles! Chicken Fried Rice - perfectly cooked rice and texture was on point Sweet and Sour Pork - this was good and not so salty, came with pineapples, onions and peppers. It comes with the red sweet and sour sauce to pour on your own. Egg Flower Soup (Egg Drop) - this was nice and light not thick/starchy like other take out places. Crispy noodles are our favorite to add. Almond Cookies - have always loved these since I was young. They came as a pack of 10 individually wrapped. Fortune cookies are always a plus! Well, we will be back! Thank you!

Ordered delivery multiple times. Very fast and delicious. Highly recommend the lo mein noodles, eggplant, ma po tofu, walnut shrimp and green beans.

The filling of the burriot was super soft and mush but it worked. There was a guy out back frying up fresh donuts. I was instantly so glad we chose this spot to celebrate our anniversary because it was the perfect setting for a romantic date night. Now, let's talk about the food! Everything we ordered was delicious, with the exception of the Korean aguachiles, which we probably could've skipped. We also tried the bluefin bibimbap, oysters, and the oh-so-tender short rib that practically melted in our mouths. But the most unforgettable dish was also the simplest: the Korean fried chicken. It wasn't necessarily something out of the ordinary, but it sure tasted like it. The perfect crisp, flavor, and seasoning had us eating every last piece right down to the bone. Our server also made the experience even better. She gave us some of the best recommendations and were incredibly attentive and friendly throughout the entire meal. My friend and I ordered the soy marinated prawns, beef tartare stone pot rice, creamy chicken soup, Wagyu beef soft tofu soup. The prawns were nicely marinated in a slightly sweet slightly salty soy sauce, and came paired with some barley and seaweed to make mini wraps. Delicious and a nice way to start the meal. The creamy chicken soup was indeed very creamy and smooth but the bowl is really small and would've been better with a higher soup to noodle ratio since the noodles soaked up the yummy soup. The tofu soup was surprisingly bland even though it was very red. It could've used more umami flavor or spice - something to jazz it up since the tofu, egg, and beef itself were not seasoned. My favorite dish of the night was the steak tartare stone pot rice. It came with a lot of veggies that helped balance out the sauce and I'm a sucker for crispy rice. However, the rice itself wasn't seasoned thoroughly as some spots had absolutely delicious sauce while other spots were bland. And the sauce wasn't a part of the tartare on top so it wasn't a mixing issue. The staff are kind and attentive, even with us being tucked away in the back corner and hidden by a curtain panel.

Here are some improvements that could be made: 1. I have no problem paying for a quality meal, but the prices were slightly off from what seemed adequate. 7 dollars for chips and salsa but 18 dollars for 4 yellowtail handrolls is just one of a few examples of an interesting price discrepancy. I will say the yellowtail handrolls were delicious! 2. Flavors and dishes on the menu were slightly misleading. We ordered the Osaka burrito but got a deep fried chimichanga, it was a little heavier than what was expected from the panko encrusted description (just put Osaka chimichanga). The tomatoes in the slaw were saved by their mango friends which balanced out the flavors enough to eat the entire dish. The abundance of salt in the tomatoes drew out too much moisture causing some unwanted sliminess, and made them so sad I felt obligated to sign them up for therapy. 3. The cauliflower dish is such a great idea, but the flavor of the cauliflower overpowered all of the other components of the dish. If the cauliflower were fried as much as the burrito was with a healthy amount of achiote seasoning, and the 4-6 pomegranate arils were actually a robust pomegranate sauce drizzled around the dish, it would be a 10/10 veggie plate. I will say on a positive note, the service was great, and the waiters were so nice when we were disappointed with the food. They took back our dish with no hesitation and took it off the bill no problem. If you are out on Sawtelle, looking for a good vibe, and don't mind opening up your mind to some new flavors, then Hermanito is a great option.
