COME FOR THE DRINKS. DON'T STAY FOR THE FOOD! My wife and I visited this lame excuse for a restaurant today for lunch (a clocked lunch I might add). It was our very first time to visit. The place probably had 4 tables occupied upon our arrival. We were greeted and seated in a very timely manner with no issues. Ordered a couple of drinks. No issues there. The bartender and the waitress were fantastic. Normally, I judge a Mexican restaurant by their enchiladas as my Mexican grandfather made the best. On this day, and given the attention to detail of the environment, I stepped out of the norm and ordered Fajitas to share with my wife. Between the time of placing our order and receiving it, several more tables arrived and were served before we got our food about 45 minutes later. Keep in mind that we were seated in the perfect spot to see the grill in the kitchen and watched several non-beef products hit that grill, and tables served, before any beef was seen on the grill. Finally I see beef hit the grill. Once cooked, it's removed and placed on a plate. Cooling before my eyes. Our waitress keeps going back to check on our food and assures us that the food is on the way. We have no doubt that she did her best. At one point my wife, whom up until now has her back to the kitchen, turns around to see whats going on, catches the eye of the manager, one that spent most of his time in the To-Go hut on his phone to this point. The manager asks if everything is OK, to which I mouth the word, "NO". The manager comes over and asks what the issue is. I tell him that he's had several tables arrive after us that have all been served and it doesn't take 45+ minutes to grill steak fajitas. He runs back to see what the hold up is. Within about five minutes our food is finally presented using the cooling meat on the platter by the grill. Finally we can eat! Upon tasting, we found that the meat was old and almost had a spoiled taste to it. My hungry wife couldn't get past two bites before feeling sick. So as not to make our server feel awkward, we asked for a to-go box, paid the $132 tab (with tip) and left. We came home and presented the remaining meat to our dog. He even turned up his nose to it so we trashed the rest. It's sad I have to give this honest review of our experience. Bellaire / Meyerland need some better options for restaurants in this area and its a crying shame that this one is a disaster. But when you can't even make halfway decent dog food, what is a customer to say? Save your money and go to Taco Cabana for ritas and fajitas! When you improve your product and service I will gladly change my opinion and delete this review. In the meantime, your establishment has a lot of work to do. Until then.... COME FOR THE DRINKS (the bartender and staff are on point considering this being a new establishment), BUT DON'T STAY FOR THE FOOD! read more

Been here twice. First visit was a HOT MESS. Food was brought out incorrect. Left the one correct plate and then took 20 mins to get the remainder of the table. Would have been considerate to have offered to take first plate back and bring HOT food to everyone to enjoy together. Newly opened, so gave them another shot. Food came out more timely, but didn't get everyone's dish correct...again. Also, 4 people with 2 adult beverages was over $125.00 before tip...never mind we had to have two additional entrees we didn't order taken off our bill that originally had the bill closer to $160.00. Overpriced, with small portions. This place not going to survive. Two of us had fajitas for dinner with no drinks and our bill was $74.

The wife and I just had dinner and pleasing her is a tough deal. She loved all the service and to start : chips and salsa was excellent along with her meal. Lots of food on plate and fresh I know these guys got slammed on soft opening but they will get it corrected and with the strong service plus attention this restaurant will be just fine. Hard to believe they've only been open a day. These were the best enchiladas I think I've ever had. Real chicken and tasty cheeses. Refried beans were from a very distinctive recipe, not just outofacan like most Tex-Mex places. Mexican restaurants in Houston have gotten pricey these days, but Manditos was actually worth the money and then some. And the Mezcal Margarita!!! - was perfect. They are new at this location so the wait staff probably could use a little time to adjust, but the owners of this establishment are living up to their notoriety from the other restaurant they run, like Lulu's and Mandito's in Round Top. read more

We live in the area and were excited that this restaurant was opening up. We decided to stop in with the whole fam. Staff was nice. Patio looked like a fun time. The chips and salsa were good 1so we were hopeful. Thats where this story ends. We each ordered something different so we could try each others food. Everything was bland. Fish tacos had zero seasoning. Steak fajitas were a grey mess. I'm not exactly sure how you mess up Tex-Mex, but they figured out how to do it. We each ate about 1/4 of our plates and didn't take any to go. This place has the ability to right this ship immediately. Change recipes or cooks asap- or I just cannot see this place succeeding long term. It's a shame because diners in this area are loyal. read more

Won't be returning. Some of the worst food I've ever had. Rice- tastes old/microwaved. Got a new side of rice, just as bad. Beans- bland. Tortillas- taste like grocery store tortillas. I'm just really disappointed, i assumed with the prices the food would be decent at best. However the food was just downright horrible. This might be a good place for drinks and apps and that's it. The service was poor (expected, it's brand new) I don't think I saw the staff or managers smile once. I couldn't tell I walked in a place that just opened if it weren't for the crowd. I really did not want to write this review but I can't stop thinking about a few things in my experience at Manditos Tex Mex. First of all I would like the say the chips and salsa were a 10. Our entrees unfortunately were a big miss. The tacos Al carbon were like stewed meat. It was not close to a grilled piece of skirt steak or anything like it. Super salty and the black beans were burnt. The rice was really bad. The enchiladas were not bad but definitely not memorable. I went for a party of 2 no appetizers no desert just 2 entrees and 2 margaritas and it was $73.00 without tip. I walked out of there spending $87.00!!! For this price I could of ate at Saltillos. Or any other high end place around bellaire. $15 for a house margarita is outrageous. read more

I hate to say it but this was some of the worst tex mex food I've had.. first we sat down and there was a long hair in our salsa. We then ordered the nachos and they forgot to put the jalapeños on them and they were burnt. We were trying to hide our faces of disgust eating the refried beans. The rice seemed like it was poured out of a frozen bag and heated up in a microwave - there was barely any flavor. And the queso seemed like it was just melted velveeta cheese. I should have known. We pulled up on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty. Should have turned around. Like the sign says turn around. Don't drown. Well... We drowned in flavorless fajitas and overpriced Rita's. This hurts to write. I wanted this place to be awesome. It wasn't. The chips and queso flameado were acceptable. Then came chicken fajitas that had ZERO flavor. My wife ordered the steak bowl. It came with chicken instead. We didn't send it back because we felt bad for our waiter who was very nice. My daughter didn't even finish her queaadilla. If they don't revamp their menu and recipes this place won't last another six months. They have a great location and could develop a loyal following. Driving by this place since it opened in April and always enjoyed the outside aesthetic. Decided to stop by and found an incredibly welcoming host and crew. I noticed immediately that they took their first impression, speed, and care seriously, and after ordering it was obvious to me that they applied the same level of professionalism and intent to their drinks and appetizers. They kept my table supplied with fresh nachos and a healthy bowl of spice, and were very attentive to the detail and accessibility of their service. After ordering, receiving and finishing my main dish, I was certain that Mandito's holds a strong position as a Bellaire restaurant, as the food tasted as though the chef had cooked their heart out for it! This was outstanding. Excellent Happy Hour; we got the house margarita, beer, queso, tres hombres enchiladas, carne asada, and nachos. The ingredients were so fresh and top notch. The service was perfect, and they were so sweet with my 4-year-old. My husband has a high bar for carne asada, and it did not disappoint! There was some sort of almost like a Mexican cole slaw salad and it was so good. The refried beans may have been my favorite of all time. My finacee and I had been waiting for Mandito's to open when we saw the article online so we could try it out. We went on their grand opening night for dinner and were very pleasantly impressed with the restaurants decor and atmosphere. The night started great with their drinks, chips & salsa, and queso. However, the experience started to go downhill from there. Our entrees were the main disappointment. I had their Lulu plate, and my fiancee had the ceviche. My plate, while large and filling, was almost flavorless. Not to mention.... You know what? This review is not actually worth finishing. I've had tortillas 100x's better from 7Eleven's taco shop (formally Stripe's), and Taco Bell has more flavor in their rice and beans. Hopefully, things have improved for the better. However, disappointing food is twice too much for me. I will be going elsewhere for my Tex-Mex cravings from now on. read more

The service was polite and prompt and the ambiance is cool and casual, but the food was not good. The chips are extremely thick and very greasy. The salsa tasted canned; didn't seem fresh at all. The steak fajita meat was bland and had a weird unpleasant after taste. The beans had no taste, flavor, or seasoning at all. The queso was too thick and was served luke warm so it hardened very quickly. The flour tortillas were slightly too small and did not taste homemade. Basically nothing we ordered tasted very good. It was also quite overpriced. Dinner for 3 (2 apps and three entrees- no drinks) was $140. Won't be returning or recommending. read more

Fish in the fish tacos was super fishy tasting and everything was bland. My husband had the crispy tacos. The taco shells were stale, the ground beef dripping with grease. Went with friends and had a great time! We sat outside, the patio was so cute. Our server was very friendly and attentive and had great recommendations. The food and drinks were fantastic, classic Tex Mex. We all had different kinds of margaritas, and I would definitely go back just for happy hour. First time to try this new establishment in nearby Bellaire. The place was well designed and having read the previous comments showing 2.7 ratings caused a bit of apprehension. The chips and salsas were the best part of the meal. We split Chicken Fajitas. The portion was ok but no taste!! The Corn Tortillas were store bought and not hot and were served in a sleeve of paper? The refried beans were greasy and not good. The Rice was OK and the Guaco was good. Even the $5 Glass of Iced Tea was OK. Just below average and they need to correct these problems or the Mandito Ship may sink. Lupe Tortilla ,Escalantes and even Los Tios put them to shame. We wish them luck!!! read more

To start, I had a question about an item on the menu... I pointed it out to her and she said she did not know and couldn't read it because she didn't have her contacts on.. One of the first things I noticed was the chairs... no cushions on hard wooden chairs and outside on the patio were metal pool chairs also with no cushions... that's one way to get the customers to hurry up and move along.. While eating my meal I noticed that inside it was getting warmer and I looked around and the patio door was propped open and it was 85* outside and also inside.. I asked to speak to the manager and finally he came over... I pointed out that the patio door was propped open and he said it was because of the servers carrying food outside... I pointed out that there were not very many customers outside and he said that it was a waste of electricity to have the door open and I agreed but he did absolutely nothing about it... I did notice that each server had a tag along who could easily have opened the glass door to the patio for his/her training partner... maybe the contractor would have realized that the door would have to be propped open and just left an opening with no door when he built this place... (I can't wait for the flies to have free reign) the manager obviously has no common sense and can't manage the wait staff... and now the food... I had the carbon tacos... she said "refried beans ok?",... they weren't, the rice was not cooked and some of the grains were hard as rocks... the meat was red in the middle... it came with chili con cueso, mixed onions and cilantro... I asked what different kind of onions were they mixing and she had no idea.... I would avoid this place under they can get an experienced manager and wait staff that at least knew what was on the menu... $34.00 for fajita's for one and $32.00 for carne asada that comes with shrimp...this is supposed to be Tex-Mex... I have never had shrimp with carne asada either here or in Mexico... overpriced and undercooked food and uninformed wait staff and a manager that is clueless....STAY AWAY...
