Let's take into consideration they've only been here about 2 weeks now, When we arrived the restaurant was pretty empty , we got sat down right away & took about 10 minutes for the server to come to us, they were also pretty distracted during the whole meal. As we were placing our order we had to repeat ourselves a few times (keep in mind, it was empty so it being loud wasn't an issue) we ordered queso as an appetizer, my husband ordered a hibiscus Paloma which honestly didn't have much alcohol in it, was very watered down, & this was after we asked the waiter for a replacement. Our main entrees came out rather quickly, I ordered a big burrito & my husband the tacos asados , he really loved his food while I on the other hand thought my food was a but room temp, could have used more flavor but over all good was OK. I don't expect to come back here for a few months and just hope the food and service gets a bit better. read more

Totally disorganized, employees not trained right, bad food, overcharged for drinks, expensive all around, and a one hole women's room. They need to get it together before opening a restaurant. Pic is of mole enchiladas--there is no sauce at all. No mole. Asked for double rice instead of beans &was charged extra for the second serving of rice, and got beans that I didn't want. $19 for that plate! Hubby's burrito was dry ground beef, not picadillo. Well. They tried! Wanted a quick dinner so we thought we would check it out middle of the week. MOD sat us and was very attentive. Our waitress must have either just started or just unsure of herself. She was sweet and tried very hard. The margarita was good however their food was less than desirable- no flavor and boring. Ordered that beef fajita on the tostada and the first time it came out with ground meat and COLD. The second time it was cool almost like it had been precooked. Tried Manditos for the first time yesterday and it was amazing!!!! The super grande burrito was very tasty, and I'm not even a big fan of refried beans, so for me to enjoy them shocked me!!! The building was clean, restrooms were also very clean. The service was great, the manager and servers were also very nice. I Will definitely be returning to Manditos. Ordered a tortilla for my 1 year old to snack on during dinner. Got charged $3 for it. Nickel and diming customers is not nice. Want to charge me to put a lemon in my tea too? Seems the negative reviews were when they 1st opened before they found their way. Now, it's great. Delicious, fresh, friendly. Classic Tex-Mex flavors! with super fresh ingredients. Love Mandito's in Bellaire! We relocated to Honolulu a few years ago, but are home in Houston several times a year. They are our go-to for Tex-Mex whenever we're home. I grew up on 1960's Houston Tex-Mex, these guys really fit the bill. Everything on the menu is outstanding, though my inner kid tends to gravitate back to the cheese enchiladas. They have the best chips and salsa and refried beans in town, bar none, and I'm picky about those. My wife says the same thing about their Margaritas. Service is consistently top notch. Servers are always attentive without being intrusive - they always go that extra mile by offering a to-go bag of chips and to-go refill drinks as well. Their music deserves a mention, too. I don't know who puts their playlist together, but I'd love to get a copy. It's a mix of contemporary and classic Cuban and Spanish along with some Mariachi as well as Spanish-language covers of rock and roll favorites. I always find myself commenting on how much I enjoy the music every time. I've noticed there's a "regular" crowd there. I've frequently seen the same faces dining there over the years since they've opened. Service was great, the host - a young man and our wonderfully attentive, kind server Britannia made our patio experience very nice. We were able to take our dog on the patio and they brought water immediately. We enjoyed the food and hubby is particular. He had a combo plate with cheese enchilada, chicken fajita and a crispy taco. He thought the ingredients were good quality and enjoyed his plate. I had green chicken plate. Very good. MORE LIKE BLANDITO'S... The chips were fantastic, the waitress attentive and good at what she does. That's where it ends. The rice was dry, undercooked, and al dente with hard, weirdly-cooked kernels of corn and what have you spread throughout. It was bland with an altogether wrong mouthfeel. The twice refried beans were bland and also had an odd texture. The cheese enchiladas had a nice texture, but weren't much better than cheese slices in a tortilla, which I can have at home or get from Taco Bell for a buck. The husband and I paid about $50, that does include tip, for an unseasoned, weird-textured meal during which we only drank water. Iced tea is $5 a glass. I may be from Texas, but that's where I draw the line. They shouldn't call themselves Mandito's. More like Blandito's. But the waitress was great. read more

My family ordered the steak fajitas to-go from Mandito's since it had just opened around the corner from our house, and while the food was decent (but very expensive for what you get), there were a lot of things about the experience that were not the best. I'm going to start out here with the biggest gripe we had- the refried beans. I don't know what these were cooked with, but they were basically inedible and we threw them away. It tasted like pure lard, had a weird texture, and looked like chili meat. My family was willing to give them a taste but could not even finish the sampling we had scooped out for ourselves. The rice was also kind of hard, and didn't feel cooked all the way which was disappointing because there was some nice flavor there. I also had arrived to the restaurant to pick up and got my order right as it was coming in from the kitchen, yet the beans and rice were lukewarm, verging on cold. I don't know what was going on there, but about half of what was given to us for our fajita plate could not be eaten, which is honestly unacceptable if you're paying $32 for this. We also had a bit of a gripe with the online ordering platform- the fajita section had no indication of what came with it on the side, and I had to call and ask the restaurant which I wasn't super pleased about. We were told it came with a side of rice and beans, but nothing about if it came with guac, sour cream, or pico. We ordered a few cups of those separately, but when we got our order, there was a container with the toppings in it in the bag. They were all mixed together, and was not a large amount so we were glad we had the extras that we got. There was also really no indication of how many servings this would provide, and it was barely just enough for 3 people. We added a portion of corn tortillas since one of my family members can't eat gluten, and I had to ask if they were in the bag. They weren't, so tortillas were added and I left, but checked if they were corn and they were not so I had to go back inside and ask them again for corn tortillas. This is a minor inconvenience but could be avoided if things were labelled. We would appreciate if the team could add indicators such as descriptors of what comes with the meal, and portion sizes, since people tend to order fajita plates to share. I did enjoy the queso we ordered! it had a nice kick to it, and the tortilla chips were thick and crispy, with a nice amount of salt to them. The steak for the fajitas was also really tender and juicy, cooked really well. However, we were generally let down by the overall quality of the meal, the size for the price you get, and the issues with online ordering. read more

Holy smack down! He wanted Tex-Mex, so he Googled it. This was the first place that came up. I got the burrito bowl and he got chicken fajitas. No time for pics because we dug in. Our server, Brittanni, made me a glass of sweet tea because they only have unsweet. She didn't tell me to "add sugar." The food is tasteless and feels like someone is learning to cook for the first time. Normally, I don't complain about food and I actually like bland food rather than spicy food, but the food here is just awful. In particular, today, Nov. 4, 2023, I ordered El Palacio, and the food was greasy and had a foul odor as well. Also, when I opened the cloth napkin with utensils, I noticed that the knife was dirty. I opened another napkin and saw that the knife in it was dirty as well. I asked the waitress for a clean knife. To see if I had just run across two bad samples, I opened another cloth napkin while she was there, and the third knife was dirty as well. Service, however, is usually courteous, and the only good point about this restaurant. If you care only about service and ambience, Mandito's is acceptable. But most people would dislike the bland and tasteless food. read more
