    My bleeding ripped off nail
    Reyanna O.

I went in today May 22nd at about 10:30 am. Asked for a soak off, And the one really young woman continued to rip my nails off hard. I have had my nails removed this way many times but not as VICIOUS as this. Do with this information what you please.

Me and my family have been coming here for a while now for pedicures.. unfortunately today, they lost my business as well as my families. I came in for a new set spent over $100 just to not like my nails I asked if she could fix and she said she was not going to.. I'll let you be the judge but these weren't worth what I paid. Im a paying customer if I don't like my nails, you would think they would fix. Never coming back here that's for sure.

WARNING! This place is a chop shop nail salon. I have never been to a salon where they take off your old acrylic set with an acrylic nail. Insane! They should be soaked off but obviously it's "time consuming" and is "faster" this way. I gave it two stars because the nail tech I go to is really nice and try's his best, which was Larry. The other male in there is such an asshole, literally for no reason and I've seen him treat others like that and no wonder why no one goes to him. Now Larry does a good job but he takes off sets with an acrylic nail and is pretty rough compared to other nail techs which he's made me bleed before and burns me every time. I guess beauty is really pain here! They are not clean, the tools are definitely not, they always seem to be talking about customers and Joy and Larry seem to be the only "nice" ones. Prices depend on cash or card, because card automatically adds $4 to the service and I guess each nail tech charges different prices. I always schedule appointments because I've learned over the years that an appointment beats a walk-in any day but what made me upset is I had a nail appointment at 5:30 with Larry and was on time and I noticed him rushing and a two other ladies came in for a 6 and a 6:30 appointments with him. How did he expect to do a full set in 30? Mind blowing but he did it and was not satisfied and was the last straw because I made an appointment and expected 45mins to an 1 for a new set. Very money hungry at this establishment.

    Uneven nail shape and size.

So I went back. This time I got another young lady. I'm so glad, because if I'd gotten that same lady I would have walked out. This young lady's name was Wendy. She did a fantastic job. I will go back, but make sure I ask for her.

Left hand with uneven nails. My ring finger also has a cut from being filed down.

Just got home from this place and I have never been more disappointed in a nail salon. I have been going here for quite a while as we live 2 minutes away. They've changed ownership over the past year and I feel it's gone downhill. All I wanted today was a natural gel color on my nails to keep them strong and help them grow. The older man who sat down to do my nails barley spoke any English so another employee had to help him communicate. As he was taking my old gel off I changed my mind on my color and picked more of a clear pink. He nodded so I assumed he understood what I wanted. However, when it came time to apply the color he grabbed the old one. I corrected him and he went and got the new one I chose. He was quite rough and sloppy. My nails are filed crooked and uneven. My right hand nails are much shorter than the left. I am going on vacation in a week and was hoping my nails would be in good shape by then but it doesn't look like that will be happening. It was also $22.00 for gel polish on just my hands which wouldn't have been bad if a good job had been done. I will NOT be coming back to Mandy V's and will recommend to others to stay away as well. Try Heritage just down the street on Unser or Top Care Nails off of Ladera!

My nail polish is peeling one day later. Ive been here several times in the past but won't be going back.

Leaving a review because Betty's truly my favorite spa in the WORLD / happy place/ special treat…read morewhen I go home and I am shocked by some of the recent negative reviews.... I've been to many spas in NYC, LA, Boston, etc. For me personally, nothing compares to Betty's! The ambiance is welcoming and calming, the prices are reasonable and the team is experienced. I typically get facials and ALWAYS leave feeling over the moon, relaxed and happy. The massage/facial beds are heated and all of products are organic and smell AMAZING so it's kind of like 2 in 1 aromatherapy as you're getting your facial :) They clearly state that the sauna/hot tub is additional on their website, so for the folks griping about that, it's probably best to simply read the info while booking rather than rip them for something that is stated upfront! I never expect to sauna or steam going into a facial service anyways, that just seems like an added perk/not to be expected. I digress.... if you want a perfect self-care day, book at Betty's!

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE…read more They no longer offer the ability to soak as a part of your normal services, which is not advertised anywhere on their website. This is standard practice at any SPA, no matter what part of the world you are in. Doesn't matter if you are at the Ritz, Woldorf Astoria, Four Seasons, or a resort in Europe, Asia, or South America. When you go to a spa, you automatically have access to all the spa's amenities. This includes tubs and saunas. There are no spa amenities here. If you are paying premium prices, you would expect a premium experience. Keep looking because you are not going to get that at Betty's Day Spa. To make matters worse, their customer service is horrendous! One would think that, if there is a medical emergency, they would allow you to at the very least reschedule your services. They do not. Thank goodness I do not live here and can go back to my normal masseuse next week.

She…read morereally knows her stuff, and she really listened to my concerns about my skin and my waxing preferences (I'm kind of a micromanager when it comes to my eyebrows!!) Also, during the facial she also gave me a "mini massage" which was really wonderful. I don't actually live in Albuquerque, but if I did Skin Bliss would definitely by my go-to place. The other reviewer was correct-- I do not think they have a receptionist to make appointments. Both times I booked online and it was very easy. Also for both appointments the salon was running on time, which I really appreciated. The atmosphere there is really nice without being stuffy. I give Skin Bliss my highest recommendation!

EDIT TO ADDRESS THE REPLY FROM THE OWNER:…read more Yes, this was my second visit and as I mentioned, the service is very overpriced for what is offered. The only reason I booked a second time was because my usual place was fully booked before Halloween weekend and yours had an opening. The setup and the price were an issue, but I still gave it a chance simply because of timing. The first time was fine just overpriced and not luxury. As for the timeline you described, it isn't accurate. My appointment was on Thursday. I noticed the issue starting on Saturday, and by Tuesday the polish on my big toe was completely off. I messaged you after that. Yes, I replied two days later -- because I work -- but that doesn't change the fact that the polish failed almost immediately. The bigger issue was the week-long gap in communication. I followed up on Thursday, then a full week passed with no response, so I followed up again on Wednesday, and again on Friday. Only then did I finally hear back. That's why I didn't feel comfortable coming back in. This is silly but the big toe is not a minor detail lmao -- it's the largest nail and made up nearly half of the overall pedicure. Getting $20 back total (about $10 for the toe and $10 for the tip) from an $85 service felt dismissive given the situation, especially since the polish didn't hold up past the first few days. I'm simply sharing my honest experience so others know what to expect. I'm glad you stand behind your work, but my experience with the result, the communication, and the refund policy was not positive ORIGINAL REVIEW: This review is in regards to a gel pedicure with Jolene. Extremely disappointing experience: overpriced, unprofessional, and poorly handled. I really wanted to like this place, but my experience was terrible from start to finish. First, the pedicure setup isn't what you'd expect for the price. There's no sink or proper pedicure station. She heats up water and pours it into one of those small vibrating foot tubs you can buy on Amazon. For an $85 gel pedicure, that alone feels extremely overpriced. I had my appointment on Thursday. Over the weekend, I noticed on Saturday that something was already starting to look off on my big toe. By Tuesday, the polish had completely come off that toe. This is the big toe, basically half the pedicure lmao and the polish clearly hadn't been applied or cured properly. I reached out as soon as I noticed the issue and followed up multiple times. I didn't get a reply for more than a week. When she finally responded, the blame was put on my "positioning," which was frustrating and dismissive considering the photos clearly showed the problem. I would not have minded at all if I could've come in promptly manner (not two weeks later at this point). What made the situation even worse was the "solution" offered. She refused to refund the service and instead gave me $20 total. She clarified she could refund me for the one toe lol. Essentially $10 for the toe and $10 for the tip I had already left. Getting $10 back for the biggest toe on an $85 service was honestly insulting. She did offer to fix the toe, of course. But by this time, I did not feel comfortable. It had already been two weeks since my appointment. On top of that, the location is in Old Town, so depending on the day you sometimes have to pay for parking. Between gas, parking, and the long delay in communication, going back in was not reasonable. I've had plenty of gel pedicures, and this was by far the worst quality and worst customer service I've ever experienced. I paid premium pricing for a pedicure that didn't last even a few days and took over a week to get any meaningful response. Definitely won't return, and I would not recommend this place at all.
