On a mission to try all the bins places to find my favorite, decided to try Mango Mango. Really cute storefront but honestly the inside needs a deep cleaning pretty bad. When I sat down I noticed all the hair and debris on the floor. The girl working was nice and promptly took our order. Oreo milk tea was nice, so was the pineapple coconut. Came here on a weekend evening and it wasn't too quickly. They have a tablet to order from so I was quickly able to make my selection, and didn't have to wait long for my order to be ready (2 minutes). I had the Mango with Riceballs and Ice Cream. It was very delicious, with the mango being perfectly sweet and going well with the riceballs. I really liked the store design, the fast service, and the dessert but I did feel it was a bit expensive for the size. It was good and fluffy, however I just wished there was slightly more mango in it, as it was majority whipped cream. I know this location has been open for a while, but this is my first visit. I've been to other locations, just not this one yet, but my coworkers asked me to pick up. The store is located on the fourth floor nearest to Bloomingdale's. The staff was fairly nice and helpful, but the store itself seemed very cluttered and messy. The workers were taking orders from the same side of the counter that I was on, because behind the counter was occupied by a bunch of boxes. Not really an appealing sight for guests ordering Togo or dining in. They made the drinks fairly quickly. I waited less the 5 minutes which was great. We asked if they were baked in store, and they are actually shipped in from New York. Since we were here, why not get some drinks? I got the Green Tea Smoothie with Red Bean and Black Rice. It was the rice that drew me. This was pretty good. Solid green tea taste. Good consistency, and not too sweet. The rice and red bean were soft and added its own texture and taste. Next was the Brown Sugar Longan Dates Healthy Scented Tea. This was decent. Lightly sweetened with brown sugar with a hint of longan and date. It's hard to distinguish each flavor since it's all in liquid form, but still a soothing tea. I think I'll try some mango drink next since you know they use fresh Philippine Mangoes from the stacks of mango boxes along the wall. I wish they would use Pirie! And probably try a Mooncake too. We ordered several different desserts to try: - Mango juice rice ball with ice cream - Black sesame paste soup with rice ball - Mango pancake Of the three we tried, the mango pancake was my favorite. It was a thin layer of crepe filled with whipped cream and fresh mangoes. It was super light and refreshing. This plate comes with two small pancakes, so it's perfect to share with others or to enjoy on your own. The mango juice rice ball was also really refreshing. It tasted like they used fresh mango purée as the juice base as it didn't taste artificially sweetened. The rice balls were the perfect consistency and paired well with the fresh chunks of mangoes. The scoop of ice cream would've been the perfect topping, but my scoop ended up being a little icier than expected (think freezer burn-like consistency). For drinks, we ordered: - Cheese foam pineapple tea with sago - Milk tea with boba - Lime green tea - Coconut pineapple smoothie I was pretty impressed with the quality of their drinks, especially their milk tea. Reason for the 3 star is because they had storage boxes stacked high cluttered up at the entrance (like you see at L&L, not an establishment in Alamoana), floors were very dirty, register area was cluttered, the area where they receive desserts from kitchen was dirty, the curtain above kitchen window was filthy. Also, the filthy trash can and service cart was right next to our table (arms length). We also witnessed the dessert chefs using bare hands (no gloves) and not once did we see them leave that area to wash hands. I heard a lot about this new dessert place opening up in Ala Moana shopping center. Definitely wanted to try it out with my daughter who loves desserts! After picking her up from school, we proceeded to mango mango dessert. Place was busy and there was a short line but not too crowded for the time of day. We opted to eat outside where they were tables and chairs present as there was no seating indoors. It was a little messy outside as it looks like someone dropped their dessert on the floor but didn't clean it up. Ordering is quick and easy. Menus are provided at the front which have prices and pictures of all the items. Ultimately we decided on the mango strawberry smoothie and the special mango dessert. I was super excited about trying this establishment and ended up being somewhat disappointed. First of all, this place was next to impossible to find in the mall. The GPS kept getting me lost and no one seemed to know where it was located. Once I finally found the location, it was very hard to order, they only had tablets where you could place your order with no assistance and the people in front of me were taking forever to place their order due to user difficulty. I was waiting over 15 minutes until they finally gave up and left without ordering anything! Then I was able to place my order and found the items to be very excessively expensive. The green tea was not anything special and I would not order it again. The highlight was the 15 layer ube crepe cake that was very tasty. I think they only dust the flavoring over the top of the crepe and all the layers are not actually ube, but it was still very light and creamy. When Mango Mango Dessert (MMD) opened their first store on Oahu at Pearlridge in December 2021, I was anxious to give them a try but I don't venture to that area. But then when they opened this second location at Ala Moana Center in late-March 2022, I was ecstatic as it's closer to me. The grand opening specials created long lines so I decided to wait a bit to try them. Originally hailing from New York City Chinatown, MMD is a Hong Kong themed business offering dessert bowls, smoothies, crepe cakes, variety of drinks and hot desserts. MMD is located on the 3rd floor of the east wing of Ala Moana Center near Bloomingdale's. I wasn't planning on visiting here after a challenging day at work where in hindsight it was a blessing to leave the office earlier due to a scheduled dental appointment. After my dental appointment, I tried to shake off the negative energy in me with an afternoon hike which did help. I was still not up to par so I tried to cancel meeting some friends who were selected to the Mango Mango YEE but had a change of heart when a good friend came to pick me up at my home. With a hectic day at work I forgot to eat breakfast and lunch so I was quite hungry after the afternoon hike. Some of us arrived earlier than the agreed time so I used the waiting time studying the menu and read some Yelp reviews. As a matcha fan my eyes locked to their matcha crepe cake but tossed that idea. This business boats mango desserts, not matcha. It would be just like ordering chicken at a steakhouse. I ended up ordering A1, which is a special mango juice with sago (tapioca), pink pomelo and mango ice cream. I didn't see any water dispenser here so I inquired with the staff where I was informed water is 15 cents per cup which I also added to my order. I paid and was a given a receipt with an order number. MMD offers both indoor and outdoor seating where we scored a table indoors to enjoy the air conditioning. Within seconds my cup of water was delivered and after several minutes, my dessert bowl came. Overall, my dessert was very refreshing and to no surprise, mangoey. It looked, smelled and surely tasted like fresh mangoes. From where we sat, there were boxes and boxes piled high of fresh mangoes. The mango juice and chunks of mango fruit were so powerful that I didn't taste the pomelo and the ice cream. We were served vanilla ice cream instead of the advertised "mango". I also had several bites of frozen sago and ice crystals where my friend also experienced in her bowl. Service was above average. The staff addressed my questions and I wasn't rushed to order. My order was also delivered with a smile. I found the staff to be very pleasant and courteous. Overall, a positive first experience at MMD but I'm not fully sold. I'm glad I tried them but for me, it's not worth the $10 price tag. I'd love to bring my family here and have them try but don't think this will be a part of my regular rotation. I do understand this is at a prime location but the desserts are pricey in my books. I'm open for another visit here but not anytime soon. read more

As regulars to the Ala Moana Center, we've been eyeing the opening of this mango-centric dessert shop on the 3rd floor of Ala Moana Center's Ewa Wing in the former location of famed chocolatier Pierre Marcolini. Luckily, I completed an appointment with my ophthalmologist and had planned to put in more walking steps to meander through the mall when we discovered the staff of Mango Mango Dessert setting up for their Grand Opening this morning. Mango Mango Dessert opened promptly at 11 am, and by the time we strode up to their storefront, a line had formed. We noticed how efficient and organized the service was during their busy opening because while standing in line, someone offered us a menu to take a gander at. After we decided, my husband suggested that I find seating on the outdoor patio even though the COVID mask mandate has been relaxed. While sitting on the deck, I could feel the humidity of the morning and the sun's heat above the outdoor umbrellas and noticed my husband signaling me to come into the shop to dine. Ahhh! This was a much better seating option because the air-conditioning was cool and comfortable even with their front doors left open to allow the line of customers in to either pick up their takeout orders or choose dine-in. My husband mentioned that when he got to the cashier, she told him that dine-in customers could order through their server at their table instead of through her, which is why my husband signaled me to come in to sit. Upon finding a table, a server came by to take our order for the Mango Mango Combo A for $23.75. The Mango Mango Combo A consisted of a bowl of Special Mango Juice, sago, pomelo, and mango ice cream, a bowl of fresh-cut mangoes and black rice in coconut milk, and three stuffed mango mochi. While waiting for our order, a young family seated next to us mentioned the generous Grand Opening BOGO Special for beverages. We then waved down our server and ordered two drinks (Watermelon Smoothie $7.50 & Mango-Strawberry Smoothie). We noticed that all of our desserts tasted of natural fruit. The mango desserts were not sickeningly sweet and tasted of fresh mangoes. Also, the smoothies didn't rely on added sugar or sweetener. My husband's refreshing watermelon smoothie had three fresh watermelon balls with seeds atop, which gave his smoothie more texture. The mango-strawberry smoothie was topped with diced mango and strawberry. We remarked that our bodies felt more enlivened by eating and drinking these servings of fruits. This Grand Opening was one of the few shop openings that we've experienced that was so well-organized and efficient. Their food products were flavorful, and the fresh quality was refreshing. First time trying. Went on a Friday lunchtime. No line. New clean place. Pretty big menu. Located on third floor, near Bloomingdales. Catch escalator. Few tables inside and outside. Friendly service/staff. Ordered D7. Mango coco. Sticky rice on bottom, ice cream scoop on top. Mango drink. I really enjoyed it. It actually filled me up. No need to eat lunch.
