0/5 for hygiene My table smelled like a urinal. To make it even better, the guy sitting next to my table wasn't wearing shoes. I wasn't going to sniff further to figure out the source of the smell. So, I simply asked for a different table. I did tell them that the table smelled unpleasant but there was no "sorry" or investigation. The lady with the tablet seemed busy and annoyed. It's sunday brunch time so I kinda get it but the vibe was already off. I sat down at a different table where the seat had crumbles all over. Well, the server was nice, and the food was good. So, I tried to forget about the pungent smell and focus on my weekend at the beach. I went to the bathroom, left my bag and a wallet on the little console in the bathroom to take out my tampon because there was no hanger on the door, and guess what? When I picked up my bag and my wallet was covered in a sticky liquid! I'm not talking about the space next to sink. This furniture for some reason was covered with sticky liquid. Every time I tried to wipe it off from my bag with a wet paper towel, white suds appeared and just spread even more. So I'm in the bathroom panicking and wiping off whatever the f that was on my lambskin wallet and a leather bag, and ask myself, "What's wrong with this restaurant and wtf fr?" I went back out and went to sniff the table I was originally seated(no one was near it anymore). It was the chair. It smelled like SF! Someone has def pissed on the chair. It was so pungent that I could smell it on the sofa side as well. I didn't want to pay the tip but our nice server had nothing to do with it. So, I notified the manager about the piss chair and their bag ruining bathroom furniture situation. He said sorry but he wasn't sorry. He just stood there still. So, I told him that he should smell the chair and he did. He said, it doesn't smell like anything but he might have gotten used to it. Idk. Maybe he lives near a potter potty. He said he'll remove the chair. I wasn't expecting something as a result for telling them about it but a genuine apology or a pretending to fix the situation would've helped. My bf stopped me from going into a bathroom and getting evidence. He said there was no point in arguing and that I should just leave them a review instead. So here I am after a ruined sunday with a pair of pants to dryclean and bags covered with suds. Never going back again. Hope you maintain your premises a little better. read more

I went here for a special birthday dinner, and I thought it was fine. The portions were a little small for the things we ordered but the quality was as excellent. The charcuterie board was fantastic, and the wine selection was good. It was so noisy I could barely hear my date, but it did feel like we were at a trendy and fun-vibe spot. I wished that they could dampen down the chatter to make it feel more cozy and elegant. read more

Came back here again for dinner. The first time I came was for brunch and I was so excited to see the difference between the 2 menus. When we got there, we had a short wait period, so we went to the bar and grabbed some of their signature cocktails. All the drinks that I had here were fresh, made great, and refreshing. To dine, we were expecting to enjoy the biscuits, but the waiter suggested we step out of our comfort zone and try their naan - great choice. We also had the scallops, ribeye, and the heirloom tomato and peach salad. At the end of the night we topped it off with some pumpkin cheesecake. Ambiance was great and the table next to us suggested we tried some of our dishes. Very happy with the service we received and look forward to coming again. Until next time! read more

10 years ago the food at MB Post was absolutely phenomenal... my husband and I would travel many miles to dine here. Based upon this knowledge my family and I decided to dine here last night after a walk on the beach. The ambiance and service were both good, although the music was a bit downtempo (not in a good way) ...the vibe slightly depressed. The food was just mediocre with the exception of the cheddar bacon biscuits and fries... We had the following: -Skirt steak - 3 out of 5 (even my hubs who loves red meat, didn't care for it) -Kids butter noodles - 2 out of 5 (my son took about 2 bites) -chicken liver toast - 3 our of 5 (gross cheesy taste that was fighting with the liver. Also the toast wasn't crisp/toasted) -french fries - 5 out of 5 Amazing! -cheddar bacon biscuits - 5 out of 5 Bravo! bacon manhattan cocktail - 3 out of 5 (the flavors were out of balance) With there being plenty of other dining options around DT MB, I think we will retire our nostalgic appreciation for MB Post. The one word to describe our meal was fresh. We could not get over how fresh and well thought out our drinks and meals were! Drink wise we got the mezcal and coconut vodka drink (I think their online menu is different from their covid menu because I'm having trouble finding the names!) but they were fantastic and flavorful- not too strong but also not weak For dinner we started with the olive lemon bread- it came with burrata and tomatoes to top it with. It was freshly baked, and the flavors were amazing. I'm not even a huge fan of olives and I highly recommend! We also had the mussels in a Thai sauce, and the pork belly in a sweet spicy sauce. They came with a papaya slaw salad and both dishes had rice. The attention to flavors again was fantastic. The vibe of the restaurant was so nice, they had a few heaters (could probably use a few more), and everything was so fresh and well done. Highly recommend! read more

Wow!! Manhattan Beach Post totally exceeded my expectations - I thought it'd be good, but it was so so soooo good!! We went for brunch and got the corned beef and crispy potato hash, Reuben style, the hanger steak and eggs and the smoked bacon. Every dish was so crazy flavorful and well prepared!! We will definitely be returning to try their dinner menu and more brunch items!! read more

We came here a few years ago mainly for the bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits. They are worth it! The other food, however, is also good. Pre-pandemic it was somewhat difficult to get a table here and I'm not sure what it's like now. read more

Wow! Everything was so flavorful! I would close my eyes to enjoy the sensations of the different flavors complementing each other. Even the kids had a feast with the different tastes. The service was attentive for the crowd they had going. The ambience was trendy and mellow. Definitely a must go to if you're in the Manhattan Beach area. The only downside was the wait, even when we had a reservation. They waiters seem to just want to ensure you enjoy your time while there and don't want to rush you, so you just have to wait until earlier arriving customers finish their food and drinks. read more

Wow. Blown away. Even with a Covid restrictions, this place has it going on! Made reservations and they were running late but while we waited, we got a tour from the general manager. Can't wait to see this place after things get back to "normal." I was visiting from Tennessee so it was counterintuitive to get the biscuits and Nashville hot chicken but....WOW. Both dishes were perfect. Those biscuits. Man. I don't know where to find those in TN, but whoever brings them here can serve only those and people will come running. The hot chicken was great. The Elvis was the perfect ending. Everyone I was with planned to share and we all loved our dishes so much we completely forgot to share! Guess I'll have to go back and try everything else. The food was stellar but our server Ashley took the cake. She was fabulous - attentive, personable and actually seemed like she loved her job. MBP has been on my list for a while now, and I can say for a fact the high rating is well deserved! One caution: Be sure to make reservations since outdoor seating during COVID is limited. Even with reservations, I had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated. Seemingly boring eggplant was transformed into a well-balanced dish with a deep and complex flavor profile. The cashew cream added a dash of richness and the chickpeas provided more substance coated in that deliciously sweet but tangy sauce. The skirt steak was a tad bit overcooked but still moist and tender. I loved the smokiness on both the steak and broccolini, but the star was the chimichurri, which had a strong kick in terms of spice and tartness. I wish I could bring a jar of that stuff home! read more

They have tables to dine literally right in front at the check in table, which I thought was slightly odd and tight. We had to order the kimchi fried rice. Their meats were very good. I'm usually a little.jaded by the American "(new)" restaurants but MB post has some unique and delicious takes on dishes. The chef has a very good understanding of Asian ingredients and cooking methods especially, and does a good job of fusing that with American dishes/ingredients. The service here is amazing and they are very attentive. For instance they replaced our water carafe pretty much immediately after it ran out. Once our dishes changed drastically in flavors, they replaced our plates and silverware without us asking. I couldn't recommend this place enough. read more

To be honest, I was expecting much more from this local favorite. We went on a Saturday night for an 830 reservation and didn't get sat until 9 PM. The service was great and the ambience was pretty cool and that's what those stars are for, but the food definitely missed the mark. The skirt steak that they said is a must to order Didn't look anything like the photos. It seemed like it might've been one of the last pieces they had in the kitchen and they probably shouldn't have served it. Found this place on Yelp and it was great. The inside had nice decor and had very chill vibes. The service was amazing and the bartender made great mystery drinks. We came here yesterday for MBP's Thanksgiving menu. It was an incredible experience. The food was tasty (although I can't speak to the standard menu), an interesting take on Thanksgiving fare, and the service was impeccable. Light and airy atmosphere with beautiful large plants. Came here this past Saturday with my brother for dinner and some drinks and was HIGHLY impressed with the service and ambiance of this place. Although due to COVID there was no indoor seating, I actually enjoyed the outdoor seating. The variety of entrees we ate were AMAZING... I mean you can taste the quality of everything as you tried it. We were told that the chef had traveled the world and that is where the inspiration came for each dish, which makes sense if you see the photos I posted of everything that we ate. Oh another fun fact, this restaurant used to be an old post office. The food was really good and i liked the way they put it out and very nice servers. Maxwell Jacob Wilber was excellent and made me feel at home. He made my eating experience 10x better. He was very kind and polite and very patient. i've never had a server better than maxwell. The restaurant was very cute and made me feel happy. it wasn't to fancy and it was really welcoming. like i said, made me feel very welcome. 10/10 food 10/10 service 10/10 overall. To be honest, this place is overrated. The food is decent at best. The plating is excellent and the service is attentive and professional. This is a mid-high-end atmosphere but the food does not match the quality of the service. I think the reviews are high because people like to feel a certain way when they go to dinner. This place gives that feeling for the most part, but I prefer to eat good food in a leaky cave rather than settle for subpar dining in a well-sealed abode. All staff members work as a team so you are never left wondering if your needs are being met. Came here on a Thursday night with a reservation and it was PACKED. I don't think they were taking anymore walk ins past 7 pm this day, but it was interesting that we waited for 25-30 min even with a reservation! Truly wasn't a problem bc we just walked the pier and came back up, but I thought that's what a reservation was for :P It was my first time, and the food was great! The wine list was had numerous options- the Beckman was a deep and rich Cab (highly recommend). My friend was raving about the bacon biscuits and INDEED they were so warm, fluffy, and cheesy!! It comes with 2 big pieces and it's the PERFECT appetizer. We also ordered the skirt steak and peach salad. The restaurant offers lots of shareables ~ I'd recommend getting a couple things to try it all!! The skirt steak was so filling and the perfect medium rare. It comes with a brownish red "chunky" sauce and broccolini. It was a fun girls night out~ but it was definitely louder than expected.... Maybe bc there was a 15 person group in the same space as us, but my voice was definitely a bit raspier from having to talk louder for my friend to hear me across the table. We went to Sunday Brunch around 11am and the Hosts were professionally fun. The Vibe felt amazing but the Star of the Show was the most tender, flavorful and perfectly grilled White Oak Skirt Steak that rested on chimichurri with all that goodness dripping down to the broccolini. Honestly, it was the best I ever had. Oh! and the Bacon Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits never made it home as planned. Our Waitress was phenomenal and personable. Haven't been here in nearly a decade and some things have changed (no more communal tables for obvious reasons) and some things are the same (biscuits are still the bomb). The Elvis is not as good as I remembered or maybe just not into the pudding anymore. Skirt steak main entree $ = ~30. All the food was absolutely delicious. No wonder MB Post is a recommended! The green mussels can be had as an appetizer or even entree. Drizzle the green curry mussels over the coriander seed sticky rice for an Asian cuisine delight of slight spiciness with a mix of sweet and freshness. Almost makes your breath feel like you had a Listerine strip...not really. However, the mussels need a microscope before eating. I heard the mussels screaming to "let us grow!" The yellow and red beets tastes like eating Earth squeezed with a citrus tangy and tartness followed by a big bang of sweetness smacked by couscous to bring you back to land (this is a good thing lol). Oh...the bacon cheddar biscuits can be world famous for a reason. It is not a soft and foamy biscuit, rather a tough on the outside soft in the inside biscuit to bite through. Then, the bacon and cheddar says HELLO! Finally, the skirt steak...the broccolini is highly needed to balance another flavors of explosion! Although the steak was too salty for my liking, the red chimichurri gives you loads of flavor profiles...cannot even explain, highly recommend to go try it instead. The tender steak reminds me of my bed mattress where it is slightly rough on the surface (natural of skirt steak) then sinks when you hit the inside. Smoky chimichurri dances around you like Latin America. When the chef recommends the temperature of the steak as medium rare, you know you can expect greatness. Bravo! read more

Almost 5 years later...I'm back & upgrading MBP to 5 stars! We stopped by for dinner on a Friday night and were really WOW'ed. The service, as noted in my last review, was still phenomenal! New discovery this visit -- they do 3 oz pours! Perfect for the indecisive lightweight that I am! They also had some really interesting wines, so I went for a Hungarian dry white wine and a South African Grenache blend that went fantastic with our share plates of: *Bacon Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits - of course I had to order their signature! Yes, it's basically like the Red Lobster ones but BETTER (and not free haha). But, the slightly crisp exterior and fluffy insides creates a texture TAH DIE FOR! Additionally, the maple butter with dat bacon is heavenly!! *White Oak Grilled Skirt Steak - Based on reviews, this seems like a long standing dish. We were tempted by the truffle rib eye, but we weren't THAT hungry so this was the perfect portion. Skirt steak can be tough but this was so tender that our non-steak knives cut thru it perfectly! The flavors were also fantastic. I also enjoyed the bed of broccolini that it came with! *Blistering Blue Lake Green Beans - This is SO fusion and so PERFECT fusion. It reminded me of a traditional Chinese sauteed string bean dish with all that UMAMI and SAVORINESS but it packed some heat! If you have a non-veggie believer, have them eat this dish. Amaze! The ambience on a Friday night was completely different from what I remember Sunday Morning Brunch as.
