We have been here twice. The first time was about 2 weeks after opening and it was a little rough, but you could see there was a real glimmer of something that could be special. I will not forget the dish that was clams and corn bread? Corn bread? For dipping? It didn't work out well. But still... we thought we would come back. So, we went back a few weeks ago and I had a burger - it was great. So were the yam chips and the side of dip I got to go with them. The burger was just right, not over seasoned and the toppings went very well. Went back again about a week ago and had the duck confit salad. Really good. And I don't like duck. At all. This is the second time in the last few months I have eaten here. Our waiter was very good and when my wife complained about the lemon drop cocktail being way too sour (I tried it too and I just about had to pull my lips out of my face) he took care of it right away and the replacement was much better. The food was ok but definitely nothing to write home about. The Chef burger was luke warm as was the sandwich my wife ordered, in fact her sandwich was alternately hot and cold like it had been hit with a microwave. The wait staff and especially the greeter didn't appear to be too thrilled about their jobs and I imagine it's because so many people are complaining about things. Oh - one more thing: If you sit outside be very careful about leaning on your table. You'd think they would take the time to make sure their tables are even/leveled so people don't dump their drinks. Firstly it will be busy, secondly if your go on a weekend end night expect a leisurely experience is not in and out Spokane yelpers...With that said this is one of my FAV places in Spokane and worth the wait! Host, servers and bar tenders are amazing and extremely knowledgeable first visit my husband was asked several questions about his beer tastes and beers he liked and out server made recommendations based on that and he got it spot on! I had high expectations for this place considering we enjoy Blackbird Tavern and this is owned by the same group. Beer list was impressive and service was good. Food came out very quickly. However, the food was very underwhelming. Chicken wings lacked flavor.. I wish it had some heat to it. 4 full wings so portion size was good. Yam chips also felt like they were missing something. I didn't get the cheese sauce to accompany them but they felt like they were lacking. Husband had southwest chili soup and blackened mac and cheese. i came in last weekend with my boyfriend and was greeted by a cheerful host and sat on the patio. The wait staff was excellent and very accommodating to my dairy free needs, and offered an amazing selection of beers. The taphouse burger (without cheese for me) was delicious. The bun was toasty, the burger was cooked perfectly and the bacon jam was so delicious! i Highly recommend getting sweet potato waffle fries with the sweet chili aioli as well, it was fantastic. usually sweet potato fries are soggy but these were crispy and delicious. it is a little pricey, but the food is amazing and so is the staff. ALSO- the cheesecake was fantastic! It was strawberry daiquiri and it tasted heavenly. I heard that they rotate their flavors, which I'm sure are all wonderful, and even make it in house. read more

I came here with coworkers for a going away party. The ambiance of this place is really cool, which was a bit unexpected considered it's in a shopping mall out in the valley. We arrived just in time to snag the last big table before the end of happy hour. The selection of beers is probably the largest I've seen in Spokane, but the beers are organized by category, which makes it easy to zero in on a few that will quench your thirst. They have at least 10 rotating taps which provide additional variety. The food was solid. I had the fish tacos which were the special of the day. The fish didn't seem particularly flavorful but they were generous with the avocado so I was happy. My coworkers had a variety of burgers and sandwiches which they all enjoyed. We ordered some potato chips to snack on and our server brought some complimentary hot cheese dip. It was okay but it seemed kind of greasy. Pros: I had the Shepherd's Pie yesterday. Tasty, but the meat was a bit sweet for me. I love that this place will regularly have beers from Dogfish Head on tap (one of my favorites). Also, they do a decent job with kid-friendliness... For kids: There is sufficient variety for kids to choose from, and they actually try to provide tasty food for kids, not the usual nuggets or kraft mac n cheese. My 7-yr-old loves this place! Thanks for treating kids like people instead of an annoyance. Cons: It can be rather difficult to park here, and the waiting area is a bit small for how popular this restaurant is. But what can you do. Overall, MTH is a great place for food, happy hour, or a few beers with friends. I'm glad that places like this exist in Spokane. read more

I'm a fan of any spot with a wide selection of beer as well as unique, gourmet pub food. So when my friend from Spokane whom I was visiting for the weekend recommended we go to Manito Tap House, I was immediately sold. But, of course, not all brew pubs are created equal and of course some can have mediocre food only masked by the awesomeness of the beer selection. Not for Manito! I've now gone twice on two separate visits to Spokane, which I will add does not happen very often. It's so good it has become a standard on the trip itinerary. What I love most about Manito is the variety of dishes ranging from elevated burgers, sandwiches and meaty entrees to robust, flavorful vegetarian or vegan dishes that even I admit to having loved. You really cannot go wrong with a single entree on the menu. I've had the mushroom enchiladas with a runny fried egg on top served with a side salad and didn't miss the meat for a second. On my second visit, my friends and I got things started with an order of yam chips which were perfectly light, crispy and salty. Then for dinner I ordered the Carne Adovada - spicy pulled pork tacos with cotija, cabbage slaw and salsa roja also served with a side salad. We even splurged on dessert and ordered the house-made s'mores cheesecake that was to die for. You will quickly notice that Manito puts in just a little extra thought in its menu and it really shows. Not to mention, their beer selection is top notch and we all know that great pub food is nothing without a great beer selection! read more

Very disappointed by the extreme change. Many favorites are gone. This place used to be fairly veggie friendly now there are less vegetarian options or very unappealing ones. I like this place allot. It reminds me of the Alibi Room in Vancouver only smaller. And in Spokane. This is my first time really hanging out in this city so I don't know what the gastro-pub scene is here but to me it looks like there was need for this place and someone smart jumped on the opportunity. The beer. 50 taps I think? Pretty fair amount I'd say. They don't cater to one specific brewery or or style of beer, kind if even across the board. I will say I like that they have mostly west coast beers on tap (sorry east coast). This is the closest thing to Browers cafe on this side of the state. They also have '12 Abyss in a bottle. $26 is a little ambitious from '06 when Whole Foods was selling for less then half that it but I understand the mark up. The food. Good looking menu items. Items that fit the budget and dietary needs of all. I had the chicken curry wrap which turned out to be really good and filling. It wasn't overly spiced or under spiced. Everything tasted fresh. They had a few sides like yam fries and mac'n cheese... I went with the side salad and yea I know I turned down the best food in the world for rabbit food. All in all I'm going to say swing in and try it out. If your passing through on I-90 I think it's worth the trip to stop by for a bite if your hungry and thirsty. read more

Having spent the past two years in Chicago, I am very grateful to have an establishment like this around. There is nothing like Manito Tap House, outside of the Perry District, on the South Hill. More taps than any place I've been to in Spokane. On top of that there are bottles, liquor and a nice, sizable and varied menu (the sweet potato chips with the dip that has bacon in it are amazing) though I've only had appetizers. The beer selection is awesome. The menu has an awesome feature that tells you, in miles, how far away from the bar the beer was brewed. It also has an awful feature that says "soon" next to beers that are not on tap yet. I never manage to notice that until after I decide to order one of those beers. The beers are sorted by style which makes choosing easier. The atmosphere is very pleasant. There is a bar section, a more meal-friendly seating area and an outdoor patio. There is a lot of brushed metal and glass inside and out. The lights made out of beer bottles are a great touch, too. All in all, there are plenty of places to get nice beer around Spokane. None have as good of a selection as Manito Tap House, and few are as dedicated to providing good products in a great environment. read more
