I like this place allot. It reminds me of the Alibi Room in Vancouver only smaller. And in Spokane. This is my first time really hanging out in this city so I don't know what the gastro-pub scene is here but to me it looks like there was need for this place and someone smart jumped on the opportunity. The beer. 50 taps I think? Pretty fair amount I'd say. They don't cater to one specific brewery or or style of beer, kind if even across the board. I will say I like that they have mostly west coast beers on tap (sorry east coast). This is the closest thing to Browers cafe on this side of the state. They also have '12 Abyss in a bottle. $26 is a little ambitious from '06 when Whole Foods was selling for less then half that it but I understand the mark up. The food. Good looking menu items. Items that fit the budget and dietary needs of all. I had the chicken curry wrap which turned out to be really good and filling. It wasn't overly spiced or under spiced. Everything tasted fresh. They had a few sides like yam fries and mac'n cheese... I went with the side salad and yea I know I turned down the best food in the world for rabbit food. All in all I'm going to say swing in and try it out. If your passing through on I-90 I think it's worth the trip to stop by for a bite if your hungry and thirsty. read more

We came on a Saturday night around 9:30 p.m. and were seated right away. The hubby got a flight of beer. We ordered two entrees, he got the pork tacos and I got an open face sandwich, and we each got a side of mac and cheese. We got one of each kind, one green chili mac and one blackened. I visited this fine place during happy hour (which normally drives my interest in places to eat). The customer service was excellent. I was checked on often and waited little time for my drinks and appetizers. I tried their crab cake appetizer and yam chips and they were absolutely delicious and tasted very fresh. The yam chips can come with a bacon/cheese dip and I recommend paying the extra few bucks for it. I did feel that as far as appetizers go, they were a bit expensive here though I didn't mind considering they were so good. The presentation of the food was pleasant as well as the décor. The happy hour pricing, by the way, is 25% off appetizers (there are 4 I believe to choose from) and $1 off your alcoholic beverage. Might I mention that they have 50 beers ON DRAFT to choose from? I tried the Calico which is an amber but was hoppy enough to taste much like an IPA and the tangerine Wheat (delicious). If you like beer, or really, really like beer (like me) this is the place for you. The beer selection is fantastic here (as it should be with "Tap House" in the name). The food is OK though, I typically come here for a couple of beers then wander over to Republic Pi. The Mac & cheese is the only thing I have really liked on the menu. Prices are reasonable and the location is good, you have a couple of options nearby if you want to get food elsewhere. Definitely check out what they have on their taps and enjoy the great beer options though if you are in the area. I definitely feel that they have a good friendly, welcoming atmosphere every time I have visited the bar counter. read more

I lived near this establishment and tried it out multiple times over 14 months. Decent food, (often)old tasting fry oil, great beer selection. The non fried food tastes good enough. If one thing could change I would hope that they would hang sound dampening cloths from the ceiling. The glasses have their actual volumes and the staff is quite capable. read more

We went in to have dinner with a couple of friends we hadn't seen in a while. Their choice. In the door, we were blasted with techno music, screaming kids and a wait for the table. They have a HUGE beer menu, and little in the way of food. The menu could be described as grade B bar food that's served poolside on a Disney cruise. My wife, a vegetarian, found only one item. I found none, but ordered a burger and side salad. The burger came with thick pickles a leaf of lettuce, mayo smeared on the bottom of the bun and a salad with oversized croutons covering lettuce that a rabbit wouldn't eat. The server recommended ALL the beers instead of narrowing the selection to a few. The interrogation light over the table only added to the dismal atmosphere. I wouldn't go back to this place even for a party hosted by 10 of my favorite sports stars. read more

Manito Tap House is a great for both the consumption of beer and dining. Beer: A huge positive note is that they have a lot of variety and beer on tap. The menu does a great job of categorizing the beer and providing a brief description of what the consumer might taste. The menu also does a great job of providing not only the ABV but also the IBU per choice, which greatly helps out in the decision of how far one is willing to take their night. Beers are also reasonably priced. Food: The food is amazing. The presentation and taste is well beyond the average Tap House/Pub/Gastropub. A heat surprise is knowing that the food is all green and can be prepared gluten free, all adding to a healthy dinner. This makes it hard because items on the menu are so delicious. Cons: The major flaw is that there is limited seating in the winter time. I can see in the spring and summer their ability to expand seating with outdoor patio area. The recommendation would be to call 30 minutes ahead to ensure that you could have a seat prepped. Another con could be seen is the beer menu, but one can barely help that as the beers are so good that you can't help but see why. read more

We've been back to Manito quite a few times since I wrote my last review. As we're not only lovers of beer, but also in the beer business, we love to patronize businesses that support our local and regional brewing industry. Normally I order a sandwich when I go to the Tap House, but last night I had the blackened mac and cheese. That dish is INSANELY good. It's spicy, creamy, flavorful, and pairs really well with a pale ale. My wife's 29th Avenue sandwich was equally great, as was my friends' chicken curry wrap (a favorite of a lot of regulars). We went to dinner with two of our friends, one of whom is a pretty strict vegetarian. He ordered the green chile mac and cheese without chicken or bacon, and I reiterated that he is a vegetarian to the waiter. Unfortunately, his meal had both chicken AND bacon, and because he hates complaining, he never said anything. I offered to say something, but he decided he would just eat it anyway. While the meal was absolutely delicious, I felt bad our friend was eating meat when he didn't want to (and probably felt it later on). Blackened mac and cheese: get it. It is magnificent. read more

We took our son and daughter in law out to eat at the tap house. One thing that I would highly suggest go to the dollar store and invest in some cheaters, they are glasses for reading, also if someone asks you for some cheaters please do not be rude to them as you were to me, I felt dismissed. If your going to work at a restaurant make sure you reign in your speediness not everyone likes that. I did not feel very special there, it felt like we were more an inconvenience than a customer. CUSTOMER SERVICE.......HUGE THUMBS DOWN!!!!! Came up to the South hill with 11 friends for dinner. Had heard it was a great spot and we were all coming from different parts of town. Got there a half hour early to secure a table. There were more than 14 EMPTY tables inside and out. Asked for a table for 11 and was told no sorry we don't do that, health department rules, so I asked for the manager and got the same exact non-sense except he said it was for isle safety. So I said how about the 2 outside along the edge....nope. We can seat you all but you wont be in the same section 8 of you here and 3 over there.....REALLY????? Walked across the street to Republic Pie had a nice table for 12 and spent $370 of pizza and drinks. Will never step foot in Manito Tap House or Blackbird its sister restaurant again. read more

Would give 5 stars for beer, but I've tried to eat here multiple times and the food and service has been terrible. Don't get the sweet potato chips and dip app, the dip tastes like pure bacon fat scraped out of a pan and make my husband and I feel sick just from a couple bites. The chips were dry and flavorless too. We also ordered some soft Asian noodle dishes and my husbands was twice the size as mine but both still small and not filling, and they cost $15 each! This place is awesome. It's the Bizzaro of the chain franchises. My wife were in town visiting friends. Our friends recommended Manito, and we loved it. I got a burger, but its no frozen patty here... Great ingredients mean fantastic taste. Even their ketchup is made from scratch! My wife got the soup, which I stole multiple spoonfuls. Then she got the fish tacos. Best she's ever had! And maybe the first time in our marriage she finished her plate. 4 hours on the patio later... We met new friends, ate incredible and unique food, and have a wonderful time. Now lets talk about the beer... Unbelievable selection. And not the common stuff every college bar has. Their selection was obviously chosen with great care, hitting a BROAD spectrum. And don't worry about selecting something new. They gladly give samples and their staff is incredible with their beer knowledge. But here's the most incredible difference... We ate there on Friday night, and went back on Sunday lunch before our flight, and the beer selections had already changed!!!! Blew my mind!! That's what this place is about... I want to like this place SO BADLY! They have pretty good food. Great service. I just kind of think some things that are pretty important to a successful dining experience are missed. It was so blazing hot tonight for dinner...after waiting a good 20 minutes for the table with my daughter. They couldn't even offer some shade on the patio when it is about 90 degrees. I think our server felt bad because it was so damn hot. Get some misters, or more shade My beet salad was great. We were here today for a late Father's Day Lunch. We did a couple of flights and enjoyed their beer variety. Our server, Jacob, did a great job. Our daughter ordered the sweet potato fries and the chili lime wings. Both were very good and the wings were crispy. My husband ordered the green chili Mac and cheese and it was amazing. Tons of flavor and a really yummy cheese sauce.I ordered the tri tip Mac and cheese with the chicken pot pie soup as my side. The soup was wimpy with not much flavor and zero chicken. The tri tip mac and cheese was super disappointing. The pasta was in a very thin runny cream sauce. The only cheese in this appeared to be the little bit of gorgonzola sprinkled on top. The tri tip on top was ok but nothing special. This appears to be a place that you have to know what to order and I failed. I will probably be back at some point but would not order what I had for sure. Service was prompt and friendly. read more

Extremely disappointed with Manito Tap House. My wife and I wanted our "Northside" friends to come south and have a nice meal with a couple cocktails. There were eleven of us so my wife got there 45 minutes in advance to ensure we'd get a table. When she got there she was happy to see the place basically empty as it was early in the evening and a Monday night. She asked the waitress for a table and was greeted with a "sorry, we can only accommodate tables of eight." Long story short, the manager gave her the same answer. Again, the place is empty and they still wouldn't seat our group. So, we went next door to Republic Pi and they kindly helped us. I will never go back to Manito Tap House. This may be strange; but we've considered flying to Spokane just so we can come to Manito Tap House for their Beet Salad. One thing I like about Manito Tap House is the fact that my husband seldom says no if I suggest we go there. I'm pretty sure it is because of the beer selection (which is massive). I stopped in for a birthday weekend dinner last week and had a good experience. Our server was friendly. I sampled the Rose Margarita (house rose infused tequila, fresh sour mix, sugar rim) and it was very unique! Of course, it had a strong floral essence, so if you are craving something more sour/margarita like I wouldn't recommend this particular drink. They have a nice kid's menu here and it was affordable as well. Their French Dip is my favorite food item to order here. read more

The drinks I had were awesome!! I can't eat mayo and they didn't list mayo in the list of ingredients on the curry wrap, though everything else was listed! At the last minute I remembered to verify that it didn't contain mayo, and since it did, I asked them to not put mayo on. They left it off, but that also means I don't get the curry flavor either. Regardless, it was a really good wrap, and I bet it was excellent with the curry flavor. The dish came with tasty homemade potato chips. Overall, a good experience and a nice evening. read more

The amount of beer this place provides is incredible! Not only do they have an amazing selection of beer they have GREAT food! We had the Mac and cheese and it was to die for. My wife and I have been to the Tap House several times since they've opened. The first time, I wasn't too excited about it, but we ordered only a crab/artichoke dip which tasted like cream of celery soup. For want of a nearby place to enjoy a beer, we swung by a couple months later and had a much better experience. Last week, I had a phenomonal burger!
