This is a clean bakery with kind staff. I stopped by to order maybe 16 cream puffs to eat and share with family. Best darn cream puffs I've ever had. Thank you to an old coworker for putting me on. They close at 8pm and I called in saying I'll be there at 8:05 if that's ok and would be ready to pay and head out right away. The employee said that's fine, so I got there at 8pm and the lights are out and they closed. My favorite spot to pick up cream puffs in the OC area. Their custard is delicious, not too sweet and perfectly creamy. It is not just a simple whipped cream that some bakeries do for their cream puff. I believe they are about 65 cents each. They are so good I usually grab 10+ for my husband and I when I stop by. I also tried their almond cookies which were like a shortbread cookie topped with sliced toasted almonds- they were delicious, crispy and generous with the almonds. Found this place after enjoying AYCE KBBQ at Grams in the same shopping plaza. This cute bakery is located right next to a boba tea shop. Now, I've had cream puffs before but these looked different. For one, these are much flatter. Cream puffs are usually ... you know, puffed up. These are kinda shaped like hockey pucks. My friend insisted we get them, and I didn't have high expectations. BUT WOW, I ate three of them as soon as I had my first bite. I've been coming here since I bought my first Motorola flip phone pre-yelp. The cellphone shop was next to this bakery. After getting my phone I went in and got one of their rolled cakes filled with coffee cream. I remember going several times for their rolled cake but never tried anything else then forgot about the place for over a decade.. Fast forward to last weekend. Kept seeing this place on yelp on their famed cream puffs. Mountains and mountains of cream puffs for 40 cents. Was drooling thinking about it so I head on over. I see a big ass line out front and feel sad and leave the parking lot. Then I think "No! Eff it! Wait in the line!" so I turn around and park. Don't let the line scare you off. It moves FAST. The reason there's a line is this place doesn't fool around with your health. They're taking all the precautions to prevent covid-19. They only allow three people inside at once. Rest wait outside with 6 feet between. Everybody was courteous and followed the rules. Masks of course required. Once inside the spotless store you tell the employee what you want and they bag it up and you pay CASH ONLY to the cashier protected behind bank style plexiglass. Touch free hand sanitizer is provided. I got a bakers dozen of their cream puffs and got some fresh out of the oven "Gombo" bread I kept reading about on yelp. I was tempted to park and hide while binging on everything but I was good and drove home to share the bounty with my wife. First off, the cream puffs. For 40 cents I was expecting whipped cream filling. I was surprised at the high quality delicious vanilla Bavarian cream filling. Each puff was generously filled and oh man were they good. They lived up to the hype and there's a reason they keep mountains of them in stock. As good as the cream puffs were, my wife and I both thought the Gombo bread was the star of the show. I don't even know how to describe it with any justice. Fluffy as a cloud white bread is topped with a crunchy coating. As others describe it's almost a nutty flavor. The ingredient list did have nuts listed, but it also had beans! Whatever the hell it's made out of it was heaven. Not too sweet, unique flavor, fantastic texture. I can't wait to return.
