On Dec 8 th 2021 , At 1930 I called the restaurant to place a TO GO order and the phone rang and rang , I hung up. and called again same thing rang and rang went to voicemail . I had just gotten off work I'm a RN and commute from Culver City to TO . As I got into town I was headed to another Mexican restaurant, I passed by Mannys and saw it was open . So I went in and I saw the girl behind the counter was on the phone , it was hard not to hear her conversation and it was a personal call . There there was 6 people behind me standing waiting to order and she's on a personal phone call . I couldn't believe it , she actually stayed on the phone for about 3-4 minutes. Once she got off the phone her face was very expressive and clearly she wasn't happy people were coming in , sighing in displeasure. I ordered my food and I could tell she wasn't paying attention to my order and when I received my food it was wrong . As soon as she took everyone's order she got back on the phone and went in the back . Then thinking back , I had called on the previous Sunday at 7:30 and a girl answered and said they were closed , I thought that's weird but what am I going to say ... I just think management needs to know this girl has NO INTEREST in doing this job , so sad because I love manny's but I won't order from her again ... so rude and insulting. read more

I called in a order and the girl was such a sweetheart the helped me. They had it ready and my complicated order was perfect. She helped me package up my salsas and was very friendly. I can't remember the last time I had such great service and it was totally unexpected. We got wet carne asada burritos with lots of specifications and they were both great and the meat was nice a tender. The salsa was fresh and we really liked the flavor of the enchilada sauce. I always get the ceviche tostada no matter what else I order here. So good! Second to that are the soft Carne Asada tacos. I go for the green and red salsa with everything. This strip mall looks pretty crummy in general from afar. Manny's is surprisingly nice when you get there, with a pair of pretty good tables outside and many clean green booths inside. There's some interesting decor like a large hanging container of flowers and a grid of small photos, cornered by plates with a gray matte coating. The menu's big and priced on par with similar places. They largely deal in standard Mexican like burritos and tortas, but occasionally have random stuff like burgers or a whole chicken. The service is nice, and made the food surprisingly quickly. I got the carnitas burrito, and was very impressed. The carnitas itself was the star of the show -- a big, thick bush of soft, shredded pork -- but with strong support of a complicated, watery, tomato-based salsa applied sparingly on one side. The tortilla was crisp and floury with a nice, saucy Mexican rice. On the other hand, I needed to chuck most of the tortilla chips that were too plain and starchy to eat alone, but were crisp enough to serve a purpose as good salsa scoops. read more

Last minute on Christmas Eve, my dad decides he wants to try having tamales for Christmas Eve. I told my dad that I believed that people usually order ahead for those. So, I began calling up some local places. Manny's was the first one I called. The woman said that their deadline for Christmas tamale orders was 12/20, but she'd see what she could do. She called me back and said they could do our order of 12 tamales, which would be $15. We ordered cheese + peppers, pork, and chicken. Coincidentally, she and I have the same last name, as she pointed out. Several things about our experience and good were great: 1. They accommodated our last minute request. 2. Prices were very reasonable. 3. The cheese + peppers tamales were delish, IMO. (I didn't try the others. I'm a (occasionally cheating) vegetarian. Yeah, I know, the masa has lard in it...) 4. The staff was very friendly. Not so great: 1. One of the cheese +peppers tamales was undercooked and too wet. 2. The lady I talked to said that the peppers weren't spicy. Not true. They were jalapeños that by most people's standards had a good amount of kick. 3. The tamales were on the small side. We didn't discover until we got home that they gave us a few extra ones, and the lady wrote on it, "Because you have the same last name! Happy Holidays!" It made me laugh. Manny's is not the best Mexican food around but they sure do make amazing carne asada fries (ask for no beans) and carne asada tacos. Their chicken taquitos are also pretty solid. I literally cannot go a day without stopping in to pick up tacos or fries. The cheesy goodness has me hooked. So again...the five stars are for those three things. Yes, I have been going to Mannys since the previous owners with multiple stores, but the last two trips have been disappointing. On the Holiday visit, tamales were undercooked and a bit watery. The visit today I watched as the cook removed the exhaust filter above and over the food for cleaning while it was cooking. When I said that's not a good look they responded that the owner wanted them to change it for cleaning at 4. But the owner could not mean do so over the food being cooked without some sort of covering. I never want to live far from Manny's. The food is authentic, and simple. I mostly change between the burrito, hot (either carne asada or pollo) and (hot) pollo soft tacos. The burritos are huge - I weighed one once and it was over a pound! (I usually get two meals out of it). The meat is juicy, spicy, but not overwhelmed by sheer heat. But my favorite thing? The fresh fluffy chips with the wonderfully delicious salsa. I think I could eat that salsa on anything. Seriously. When I bring it home, it goes on eggs, sandwiches, nearly anything. And is delicious every time. The place isn't the fanciest. But who needs fancy when the food is so good? For fancier atmosphere, you can always choose to eat outside. read more

I love small, unadorned taquerias. Manny's is just-that: sandwiched between a fish restaurant and a Chinese food place, you can drive right by and miss it. Manny's can be daunting - the menu is written on white boards next to the register, and if you don't go in there knowing what you want, you can get lost in the options. But the food is awesome. My wife usually orders hard tacos, I typically get a wet Burrito Especial, and my son usually gets a carne asada Junior Burrito. We always love our food, and the prices are reasonable. We've had very few "meh" moments at Manny's. One night while calling in an order, my wife was told to hold for a moment, and 10 minutes later, she was still on the line, listening to the employee joking and laughing with patrons. But almost every other time we've called or stopped in, we were happy with the service. The employees are typically personable and willing to help if you've got a question about what something is. The interior is a little plain. It just got a fresh coat of paint recently, and the salsa bar was moved from in front to the side, which opened up the front counter area. I'd love to see the menus get printed up and put on the walls, but having them down at eye-level isn't terrible. Overall, I'm always happy with my Manny's order, and we're frequently bringing friends there too. read more

Found this little treasure here on Yelp and I couldn't be happier. It may be a "hole in the wall" but it's the cleanest and friendliest hole in the wall I've been too. What's even better is that the food is fantastic! Their meats are delicious. The chicken is not dry and Shredded. It's full of flavor and in pieces. Same with the beef, extremely flavorful and tender. We had tacos, enchiladas and a quesadilla. Nothing disappointed everything was fantastic. Best of all... they had great chips and amazing salsa. I wanted to like this place seeing as how I live about 5 away but after coming here a handful of times I unfortunately have to give 2 stars. Although the portion sizes are decently generous, the quality here is 1 star. The carne is literally flavorless and there salsas SUCK.. You could get higher quality salsa from the 99 cents store next door. Both the red and green salsa(the only 2 that they have) RUIN the entire burrito, that's how bad they are. The red salsa is very bitter and barely spicy(catering to gringos) and the green is way too limey and makes the food sour. How a place can call themselves a Mexican restaurant and not have habenaro salsa on deck is beyond me. Also their pico de gallo could use a major recipe improvement as well. Mexican restaurants need to understand that their salsa is their bread and butter and without a good selection of authentic salsas, they will lose tons of repeat business from customers who expect authenticity. I pretty much lust after Manny's on at least a weekly basis. (Mind you, I don't actually go there every week, but boy do I think about it a lot.) The burritos there are enormous to the point of regularly falling out of the tortilla. While I do like every meat I've had there, I think I am most often drawn to the steak ranchero, because I like the fresh-cut peppers in it. Yum. I went in wanting menudo, unfortunately it wasn't as good as I would have liked. It was lacking flavor, and the texture of the meat was off, felt rubber-ish. In my opinion the best menudos are found in the San Fernando valley. Tacos de papa are good, however I would prefer queso fresco oppose to American cheese. I used to come here as a teenager when it was run by the original Manny. They had the biggest burritos, great pulled chicken, and really good food. Since it's been passed on then the place has changed but still has the old name. The food is hit and miss now, I had the enchiladas were really good. The fish tacos were not very good. These words are all descriptive of Manny's burritos.Theyre carnitas are light in flavor but so tender and juicy. rice and beans could be said to be slightly overdone but i kinda like it. And everything seems to be mixed well in every manny burrito ive ever gotten so im not just biting into a sour cream pocket (ahem, *cough* chipotle)/ also cant get enough of the al pastor tacos with the yummy red spicy sauce I love their chips too, they are thicker than your standard tortilla chip and so addictive with their homemade pico. Manny's is the kind of place that I would normally never walk into. It's in a strip and looks stark with just a service counter, tiny salsa bar, and cheap booth and table seats. The bad flourescent lighting doesn't help either. Don't be deterred!! Manny's is delicious and authentic! I've never had authentic tacos that didn't come from a truck until Manny's. Delicious carne asada tacos!! I think Manny's speciality is their meats because, WOW! the carnitas, shredded chicken, and carne were delectible, melt-in-your-mouth good! They had lots of special combos to choose from and all were at amazing prices. For $6.99 I got a carne asada taco, pork verde tamale, and chicken enchilada, plus rice and beans, plus chips and salsa service. It was a steal. If I lived near by, I'd never go to a fancy sit down mexican place again. All I need is Manny's for delicious authentic Mexican. Besides the great food, the service was quick, efficient, and friendly. They brought our plates out after our order was ready and bussed the table. Went by Manny's in the late evening for some dinner, after reading rave yelp reviews. Food: Pretty decent enough, gigantic burritos. I could do with more sauce on my tacos, but then I noticed they had the salsa bar, and so i loaded up! I personally love little hole in the wall Mexican joints, usually they are the best. Although Manny's is kinda cavernous, it's weird yellow walls and Spanish tv station definitely gave it that feeling. Definitely be going back, damn cheap! read more

I haven't had anything from here I didn't like. I miss living in T.O. and being able to get Manny's. I have found some place similar but it isn't the same. I love the Carne Asada Nachos and generally get it with extra cheese (i'm a big fan of cheese). Their Potato Tacos are so tasty and yeah it is a hard shell taco with potato in it. It is nothing fancy but it is damn good (and not good for you). Their burritos are pretty hefty and they don't skimp on the meat and just give you a bunch of rice and beans in a tortilla. There is generally a lot of meat packed in. Manny's isn't expensive either it is reasonably priced and you can get a ton of food for little money. They are also really nice about coming in for take out at the last minute. Many times I have come in with minutes to spare and have gotten stuff to go without any attitude or hesitation. read more

Coming into this I had high hopes due to Yelp reviews. I must be frank...it is what it is...cheap prices for cheap food. I had the carne asada sope which was awesome but not for the price (you could buy 4 for the same price in down town LA). Furthermore, my girlfriend had two fish tacos and they were lacking.
