My parents have a lake house just south of Burlington WI, and I can't imagine going anywhere else for Breakfast if I am willing to drive more than five minutes for breakfast. Many diners try to create a folksy, stuff on the wall, chat the customers up atmosphere, but this diner totally succeeds. I love diners that move like a well oiled machine. Manny (owner, head cook) overheard that I was interested in two items on the menu and did something generous for me, then heard that it was our wedding anniversary that day, and did something generous for me again. My go-to breakfast place when I'm in the area! DISCLAIMER: The food is delicious and plentiful so you are going to wait. You are especially going to wait on the weekends. If you don't like waiting, eat somewhere else or go really early. It's a small restaurant and they only have so many tables. The food is delicious and inexpensive. I typically get the french toast with the cinnamon drizzle because it's the only place I've seen with it, so I take advantage of it when I'm here. The omelettes are truly massive no matter how many eggs you order which is wonderful because why not?! Leftovers for later! For the price, the quality of the food you get is worth it. I've been hearing great reviews about this place for years and just finally got out to try it and it was so disappointing. The menu has changed recently compared to what has been posted online. They got rid of all of the omelette choices and now all you can do is build your own and get charged for each ingredient, so that's kind of a hassle. The country fried steak (chicken George as they call it) was small and thin and the gravy wasn't even homemade. The scrambled eggs seemed odd, almost like the eggs themselves were watered down first. The breakfast burrito, which they refer to as huevos rancheros for some reason, was very large. More than enough for 1 person but it was almost too big. Everything falls out as soon as you take one bite, the eggs had that weird taste to them as well, and the bowl of salsa is very sweet. Best part about the meal was the thick sliced raisin toast with cinnamon butter. We went on a Sunday morning and it was dead, so that should have been a sign that it'd be bad. I ended up feeling sick about 15 minutes after leaving the restaurant. The inside is very small and cramped and you have barely any room to walk to your table. read more

Anyone who has negatively commented on Manny's cooking doesn't have any tastebuds. The portions are huge...YEAH!!! Depending on what you order...yes it can be greasy BUT if you let Manny know you don't want grease, he will drain off the excess. You can also request for him to cook with Pam spray if you like. Manny makes his meatloaf from scratch just like his desserts. He packs the loafs and cakes into the pans so they are dense. But OMG his desserts are wonderful...Whiskey cake that weights in at about 5 pounds...coconut cake that is soo sweet and melts in your mouth. Manny's is your typical Wisconsin "no frills" restaurant where you can expect the following: GREAT food, HUGE portions and reasonable prices. It's a popular place, so be prepared to wait. There is often a line out the door depending on the season or day/time. You're also crammed in pretty tight here. But once you're seated, your food is to you FAST. Waitstaff is always friendly. Manny is a like a machine at the grill. We have only had breakfast here and every time it is great. I'm a fan of their french toast with the cinnamon-type icing...it's soooo addicting!! read more

This is one of those gems that when you find it, you will always remember it and come as often as you can. I read about it in our local paper (Kenosha News) and wanted to check it out. The food was awesome and there was soooo much of it! I asked for a 1 egg omelet and it covered my very large plate. Towards the end of our meal they brought my husband and I each a piece of Manny's apple, pineapple,peach pie a-la-mode which was delicious! I asked if they sold his pies and the waitress said no, he just decides to make them every so often and then gives them away! We will be back! read more

Since he got a new gf the place has gone downhill. Got biscuits which were hard as heck. The wonderful ladies that have worked there for years have been replaced with new gf's daughters....who apparently have never waitressed before. I have been going to Manny's for breakfast for over twenty years and always enjoyed large, delicious breakfast portions at reasonable prices. I would recommended people to make sure that they stopped in for breakfast, and I definitely would have given Manny's 5 stars then. However, after visiting Manny's over the summer, we will no longer go back. His new wife has raised the prices a ridiculous amount, my kids no longer enjoy the biscuits and gravy because it is too spicy, and Manny shockingly burnt our pancakes. He has raised prices modestly over the years, which is fine, but the prices are not reasonable. You can get better food/price at the Wine and Cheese House down the road or at Egg Harbor in Lake Geneva. read more

The portions are HUGE!!! It was my first time here and of course we needed to try everything , but we never expected the portions to be so ridiculously huge!! It was amazing. I ordered a 2egg denver omlet with american style potatoes wheat toast and a side of bacon. I recieved what appeared to be a 6 egg omlet and and entire plate of potatoes lol!! Everything was cooked well nice crispy bacon. My only complaint...no biscuits and gravy after 11am...we got there at noon. This place rocks though and I will be back soon! read more

This was good, but it is very unhealthy greasy "good" food. They have extremely large portion for low prices considering what you get. Everything is swimming in oil, mayo or butter. The place is very dirty but I think that is because it is very small and they did seem like that had been busy-we went on a Saturday at 1:15. The staff is over the top friendly.
